[training mingle] Let's get down the business!
Who: Everyone out there!
Where: Outskirts of the Aldrip - Training Grounds
What: It's time for the Boot(y) Camp! The Chosen of Aldrip have all been invited to train, learn and spar!
Warnings: Other than the general violence? TBA..!
It is early morning on the 9th of September. The sun is shining, the air is fresh and nicely brisk, which means that it is just perfect time for Aldrip's first ever group training! How did you find your way there? Who knows! Maybe you were one of the people who saw the original announcement on the network, or noticed posters about it around Adlrip. Or maybe you were brought here by friendly white boar. Well, whatever the reason is what matters is that you are here. Welcome.
The empty field near the outskirts of the City has been transformed into a makeshift training camp. There are couple of tents set up around the camp. Some of them work as rather simplified armories containing pretty limited amount of blades, axes, armors, firearms, bows and arrows and what have you. Feel free to pick your poison, so to speak, but be sure to return what you borrow. Richard is keeping an eye on the weapons and will notice if something goes missing. Of course, characters are more than welcomed to use their own weapons and armors etc. Other tents are for resting, ER practice and dining. The lunch is sponsored by the Sandwich Hut.
The official training areas and their respective teachers/staff are the following:
Spiritual training/magic: Kurama, Douman, Kakashi
First-aid: Ethlyn, Morph, Bones
Rescue training: Morph, Bones
Hand-to-hand combat:Jirk Jim & Spock, Kakashi
Tech support:Jirk Jim & Spock
Fire arms: Caitlyn, Levi
Swords & Melee: Richard, Hiei
Archery: Richard
Survival skills: Richard, Kurama
Military training: Jim & Spock, Miller, Richard
Endurance training: Bones
Lunch: Junpei (and Whitey the Albino Boar)
If there is an activity a character would like to do that isn't included in the list that's no problem. Feel free to create your own top-level with said activity or you know! Just the usual stuff that varies from silly hang-out to whatever your heart desires.
Also for references sake: here is the OG ooc info post about regarding the mingle

oddly enough, he doesn't seem to be actually demonstrating much magic himself. well, it's hardly the teacher's place to show off, is it? he'll show off a bit if he deems it appropriate. or if he's goaded enough.]
And you! What do you do?

What's curious is that there are several small paper dolls strewn around. They're even perching on the sign! At first look they appear like decorations, but if your character shows any interest in the sign or the training area they will come to live and wave at you and generally try to entice you to get closer and consider their offer - Pretty please?]

The main reason there's not much equipment is that Morph will be playing the 'injured civilian' part themselves, unless you bring a partner along who's willing to be carried or dragged. And partners are encouraged, because there's only one of Morph to go around and this is very much meant to be a hands-on training.
When Morph's not in the middle of instruction, they're trying to wave over people who might be milling around or looking for something to do. Or you might get unlucky, and it won't seem like anyone is there... except for a fluffy, white Persian cat lounging from one of the lower branches of the tree, looking in all the world like it had tucked itself up there to take a snooze.]

So, here's Scott, the teenager slinking up to the training area with a familiar casualness, but there's a focused look to him as well. He's not here to goof off and whatever anxiety he holds is pushed down. Scott thinks he's ready for this.]
So, guess this is a limited time offer to punch me. [Don't take advantage of it too much!!] Don't worry, I'll punch back.

Jim Kirk | OPEN
Jim himself has been stepping in as a sparring partner where he can, or as a target, when he holds up the practice mitt and encourages people to go ham on it. Whether you're in the beginner, intermediate, or advanced lesson, Jim's advice applies to all: ]
Good work! Remember to stay on the balls of your feet; you can move quicker and your gravity is centered. Alright, try that one again, you've got it!

He's got a HAM radio that he's pretty sure (?) Peter fished out of a dumpster (he's not sure, it was sitting in the pile of junk that had taken over one corner of the STEM room), and Jim's got morse code buzzing over it, on repeat, as a translation exercise. As indicated by all of Spock's testing so far, morse code was one method of communication that could not be translated by Aldrip's translation matrix. It also happened to double as the perfect code, should a translation glitch make communicating otherwise impossible. ]

Fire arms

Letting the students get a feel for the weapons was the first step. He'd steer students to the guns with less power and recoil, but if someone was dead set on trying the few stronger ones he had out he wouldn't stop them. (But he might say 'I told you so' later.)
After that came specific safety lessons on how to handle a gun, then coaching of the right way to hold one. After he was sure someone wasn't going to go wild then they'd get a chance at shooting the targets.
He also had a smaller table set up to show people how to go through cleaning and maintenance of the weapons. He wouldn't be doing his duty as a trainer if he didn't make sure they knew how to take care of the firearm as well.
The firearms were mostly gathered from the armories but a few were Levi's personal weapons. None were free to take away from the lesson site, but if someone brought their own he'd offer training with it.
The normal meek air he has around him wasn't quite present here. He wasn't quite in soldiering mode, but this was serious and official business he'd done in the past. It was easy to slip into that mood again.

Knowing ahead of time that her and Levi would both be educating people on guns, she worked with him to set up the area. In addition to the standard targets, she added some that launch disks in the air for a bit of an extra challenge, and was also willing to use her metal manipulation to also throw and move targets. While she only had one alternate rifle to lend out for use, she added it to the collection for people to look at, and was also available to educate people on use and routine maintenance for each type of gun. Even if she was more partial to rifles, she had used and trained with all of the above, and was just as proficient with each.
Throughout the day, she'll be approaching anyone that comes by looking interested, but when slow, you might just catch her in the middle of practicing herself.]
Swords & melee

Hiei had shown up here under the guise of getting some training in. Unknowingly signed up to be a teacher by one of his companions, he's less than thrilled at the prospect of being expected to teach people anything, much less sword techniques. Patience is not exactly a virtue that Hiei has in any sort of amount, much less the spades needed to teach those who may be new to using a blade. But since he's been committed to it, the fire demon is begrudgingly filling in his spot.
... With a note to self to force Kurama to pay him back in some form or fashion later on for signing him up for all of this mess.
He is pointedly going easy on the dummies provided for practice, as he doesn't think it would go over very well to simply obliterate their targets for practice before anyone else gets to swing a sword at them. The little demon is also.. taking it very easy. No need to zip around for a bunch of amateurs when they can disappear into the woods for some true practice later, right?
"Have you chosen an appropriate blade?" First things first, right?
no subject
At least he figures he should start with just one blade. Wielding a foil with one hand, he tries waving it around to get used to it. With an instructor or anyone who looks like they have experienced, he'll ask with a light smirk-]
Got any pointers? ...Aside from the ones on the swords! [He chuckles at his own joke.]

for Richard........
She's a tall willowy figure dressed in smart black modern clothes that effectively conceal a pair of handguns and a taser. At least, it does until she draws one of the guns smoothly from inside her coat, holding it with proper positioning, pointed at the ground.

Survival Skills
Military training
Jim Kirk | OPEN
It's not really about the physical exertion, though Jim is indeed putting the trainees through the paces. There's a reason he keeps blowing the whistle and making them do parts of it over again - the one thing this course is measuring that Jim was not explicit about at the start: teamwork.
The first component of that and the foundation for the rest of the lesson is getting the trainees to all to band together against him. It's the fastest way to entice people into getting along - giving them a common enemy. His behavior is certainly not as harsh as a drill instructor on TV, and not even as harsh as Jim was treated himself, at the Academy (these are, after all, volunteers of a variety of backgrounds) - but enough, he hopes, that it's working.
Time will tell, with this next obstacle. Jim blows the whistle, calling everyone to a halt. ] Come on, guys, reset, let's try that again. Everybody needs to make it over that wall in ten seconds or less. Nobody left behind. What kind of strategy can we employ to make that happen?
[ He knows exactly what his first suggestion would be, but this is all about teaching the trainees to think on their feet! ]
Endurance training
no subject
he hasn't trained like this in a while. and it's refreshing. no longer is he playing the part of a simpering coward. he gets to be rafal. almighty fell dragon. his fingers itch to summon his hounds, to bring his power to heel, to truly display the full terror of a dragon.
but that would defeat the point of them. rafal slips a hand around his dragonstone as he stands at the centre. ]
You wish to test your endurance? Face me in my true form. See if you can handle a dragon.
Lunch
no subject
After Junpei told her there would be food, that's all she really needed to hear. She showed up, promptly ignored any of the actual training, and made a beeline for the food, where she appears to be trying to single-handedly eat the entire food supply for the whole group herself. Especially the meat.
She's mostly content to just eat and watch, without socializing or lifting a hand to participate or help anyone. She doesn't need help training, as far as she's concerned, after all, so this is only for the free food.]

Ascian spies on people training and by "spy" we mean...
For a while he ignores it, instead immersing himself in his experiments. Curiosity gets the better of him eventually, as it always does, and he decides to visit the place and see it with his own eyes. It is within his power to fly and teleport but if anyone saw him land or emerge from the shadows at the camp he'd have a few too many questions to answer. For now, it is best that the other Chosen perceive him as frail and mostly powerless. After all, it is better drama when the audience doesn't know what's coming.
So he walks. The air is cool with the snap of early fall and the grass beneath his boots is damp. Weather changes, the calendar moves on, one day bleeds into the next. In time it all becomes a gray blur of dusty old memories that fade into nothingness. How he hates it here. How he hates it everywhere...
...As he enters the training ground his pace slows to a stroll and he hums thoughtfully to himself. Why, he wonders, is Jinx so worried about this place? Is it really worth being worried about?
He doubts it.
But he is here, as a loyal member of the Inx, carefully watching everyone train, taking mental notes of their abilities. He makes no effort to hide himself and can be found at the edge of the camp seated in a crouch with his hands folded across his knees. Not once does he stand up and participate in the training but he will engage anyone passing by in conversation.]
