[training mingle] Let's get down the business!
Who: Everyone out there!
Where: Outskirts of the Aldrip - Training Grounds
What: It's time for the Boot(y) Camp! The Chosen of Aldrip have all been invited to train, learn and spar!
Warnings: Other than the general violence? TBA..!
It is early morning on the 9th of September. The sun is shining, the air is fresh and nicely brisk, which means that it is just perfect time for Aldrip's first ever group training! How did you find your way there? Who knows! Maybe you were one of the people who saw the original announcement on the network, or noticed posters about it around Adlrip. Or maybe you were brought here by friendly white boar. Well, whatever the reason is what matters is that you are here. Welcome.
The empty field near the outskirts of the City has been transformed into a makeshift training camp. There are couple of tents set up around the camp. Some of them work as rather simplified armories containing pretty limited amount of blades, axes, armors, firearms, bows and arrows and what have you. Feel free to pick your poison, so to speak, but be sure to return what you borrow. Richard is keeping an eye on the weapons and will notice if something goes missing. Of course, characters are more than welcomed to use their own weapons and armors etc. Other tents are for resting, ER practice and dining. The lunch is sponsored by the Sandwich Hut.
The official training areas and their respective teachers/staff are the following:
Spiritual training/magic: Kurama, Douman, Kakashi
First-aid: Ethlyn, Morph, Bones
Rescue training: Morph, Bones
Hand-to-hand combat:Jirk Jim & Spock, Kakashi
Tech support:Jirk Jim & Spock
Fire arms: Caitlyn, Levi
Swords & Melee: Richard, Hiei
Archery: Richard
Survival skills: Richard, Kurama
Military training: Jim & Spock, Miller, Richard
Endurance training: Bones
Lunch: Junpei (and Whitey the Albino Boar)
If there is an activity a character would like to do that isn't included in the list that's no problem. Feel free to create your own top-level with said activity or you know! Just the usual stuff that varies from silly hang-out to whatever your heart desires.
Also for references sake: here is the OG ooc info post about regarding the mingle

One eyebrow lifts as he watches Whitey hop around him in a circle, obviously hinting that he wants to play some sort of game. Or show him something?? He's still trying to learn the Ways of the Boar, but Scott thinks that's what is happening here.]
Okay okay, you wanna play, right? [Scott straightens up from his position and rolls one shoulder, showing that he's ready to follow Whitey's antics. He'll... figure it out along the way. Probably.] Am I gonna chase you around?
[He doesn't fully realize how silly this is going to make him look, but oh well.]
no subject
The boar lets out excited sound when Scott stands up, one hoof kicking ground gently. Then! He just takes off, running across the training field towards the tents where Junpei seems to be serving lunch. He stops in middle of his sprint to see whether the mutant is still with him before speeding up again.
But! Just when Scott might suspect that Whitey is aiming for the delicious sandwiches he makes a sudden turn! A sharp curve to the right and he is off to another direction. It seems like he is just making Scott run laps around the camp but.. whatever.]
no subject
Hey-- come back here!
[What a sight... a teenage mutant chasing a white boar around the camp. It's really a good thing that Scott has Zero Self-Respectâ„¢ because he truly looks rather ridiculous. He just has to catch Whitey now! And show that... he can catch him, yeah. Scott could try and destroy the path in front of Whitey, but he doesn't want to cause unnecessary damage to the training grounds. Or accidentally hit someone.
So, running it is. Don't look at him Richard.]
no subject
And speaking of Richard?
Yeah. He is definitely looking at the pair when Whitey curves past his station, shooting a questioning look at their way. ]
no subject
Still, a tempting thought.
It sticks in his mind a few seconds longer as he stops in front of Richard, the teen bent over and panting, obviously trying to catch his breath. Yeah, he might be at his limit, not that he wants to admit it. He just needs a small break.]
Did... did you know that boars can run fast?
[Helpful tidbit, right??]
no subject
They are prey animals. [Richard says as if that explains everything. Then he turns his attention to the sword placed on the table, proceeding to clean it.]
no subject
[Scott, in fact, did not know that.
Well, he knows that a lot of people eat pork, he eats pork, so guess all of that makes sense. He just never referred to pigs like that in his head. Well, with how quickly Whitey runs, he at least doesn't have to worry about his small friend getting captured for the local butcher. Y-yeah, he just helped make sure that Whitey is in tip top shape.
Another deep breath as Scott wipes the sweat off him with the back of his hand, straightening up and finally paying a little more attention to Richard.] Just wanted to make sure that Whitey's good on escaping.
[You're welcome.]
no subject
Though that comment makes Richard scoff out a dry laughter. Sure you did Scott.]
That is one thing I wouldn't worry about him. Whitey is notoriously good at finding his way out of places he does not want to be. Or breaking in. [After all, Whitey sort of broke Richard out of prison cell once during his childhood by leading him through the smallest cracks and tunnels.] I think he might just be bored now that he doesn't have my son to entertain him. If it is a bother you are free to ignore him.
no subject
Well, despite how weird Richard is, Scott doesn't think he's a bad dude.]
Nah, Whitey's cool, I don't mind-- wait, you have children?? [He doesn't bother hiding his surprise, mouth parting. What?! He just doesn't meet a lot of Chosen that has kids back home! The only other person he can think of is Miller.]
no subject
I did just say that I have a son. [So.. Yeah? Richard continues to be so unimpressed by you, Scott.]
no subject
[He folds his arms, just a little defensively. His reaction was totally reasonable! Scott holds back a huff, especially since Richard definitely looks so unimpressed with him. Whatever, he's immune to that sort of face by now.]
It felt like a lot of people here are either too young or... childless. I rarely hear people talking about their kids and that's what parents do, right? At least if they miss them.
no subject
I do not think me talking of my son would help him or me in this situation. But I suppose you are right. I know another parent here who often talks about his daughter.
no subject
Instead they can talk about his a+ parenting--]
Guess that guy really misses his daughter. [Scott's just imagining one of those doting parent types now.] Probably blabbers on how proud he is.
no subject
All parents love their children. [Richard says, despite knowing from personal experience that is not always the case. There are times when the family is nothing but a thorn. But he is not one to traumadump on strangers (
he's no akechi) so better just go with the 'correct' reply.]no subject
[Even if his parents and him aren't particularly close, they probably still feel that way, at least to some degree. Scott can admit to himself that he really hasn't missed them since coming here. Not that he hates them, but. Kind of feels like he's actually found a place he really wants to be.
If not Aldrip, then Xavier's Institute.
Okay, when did this topic become serious?? Scott lets his arms slide down to his sides, wanting to just push onto something a little more lighthearted.]
So, Whitey plays with your son a lot?
no subject
Whenever he can, yes. Unfortunately I have been rather busy as the crown has needed my assistance in London. My son stays with my wife in north were my lands are.
no subject
[A little surprising, if only because he really hasn't talked to other Chosen that works for royalty or whatever. Not that it's mundane, but in a way, it almost feels normal compared to some of the stuff he's heard about in other worlds. Timelines.
Unless, of course, Richard does really insane shit for the crown. He's not ruling that out entirely.
Rogue's told him in the past how things are so peaceful in his world compared to hers. She isn't wrong, no matter the global conflict and crap that are going on back home; no mutants have been massacred by Sentinels.]
no subject
Edward the fourth, our late king, was my older brother. I am currently working as regent for his son until he comes off age.
[Or you know! That is the official story he gives to others. No need to mention that just before his arrival to this world Richard had arrested and stripped his nephew down from any power.]
no subject
Scott's sure that he was mentioned at some point in the history books, but hell if he can remember which king did what. Yeah, so he doesn't remember!! Sue him!! Not like he paid a lot of attention to American history and this is like. World history. Besides, it's probably altered world history. So, wouldn't even be useful to begin with.]
Oh. Sounds messy. [It's one thing to work for royalty, but to be part of that whole family?? Yeah, that's like extra complicated shit. He doesn't need to be an expert on history to know that much.]
And a pain. [He's... trying?]
no subject
I suppose you are not wrong. [Richard hums, the corner of his lip curling up into a small, approving smirk.]
How have you found these training grounds? I hope there has been more to you than just playing with Whitey.
no subject
Actually... yeah. [Right, Richard's the one that basically set all this up in the first place. A place for Chosen to train and everything; Scott thought it to be a pretty decent idea. It's definitely why he's here in the first place. Whitey was just a nice and unexpected bonus.
So, Scott's definitely not putting up his usual bullshit as he smiles a little.]
Nice to know what I need to improve on and everything. I can't stop trying to get better, you know?
no subject
But hearing that Scott, who he assumes to be 100% civilian here, is getting something out of the camp does make him glad. People might have had reservations towards this idea but it still seems to be worth the trouble.]
Exactly. And with practice I hope we'll be able to fend off the future attacks and protect ourselves from threats. I heard about the instance where half of our population was kidnapped by the neighboring town. I do not wish to see anything of that sort to happen again.
no subject
Hearing Richard talk about all this though... he's really not a bad dude, huh? Scott finds himself both liking and respecting the guy just a bit more. Maybe he'll actually come say 'hi' to him even if Whitey isn't around. Truly a step up in this world. He stops himself from laughing at his own thoughts though, remembering the incident Richard is referencing.]
You heard about that, huh? [Not a great time, especially since a couple of friends died. It's been a while, but he'll never forget that. Just like he'll never forget the gnosia infection.]
That and the infection that happened... I don't want any of that to happen again. [Harder to fight off an infection, but.] It's more than just training to fight, but learning self-control too.
no subject
When Scott mentions the infection Richard's expression turns more serious again. He nods in understanding. In all honesty? Richard had a little complicated feelings about being driven out of his mind there was no denying that he had felt at peace back then. Nothing quite soothed his troubled soul like bloodshed.
But that's neither here nor there..]
Exactly. While we can't necessarily escape such tragedies as the infection occuring among our numbers, we can still be prepared. Knowing how defend ourselves and those who are weaker, and how to disarm and secure someone so that they won't hurt others or themselves. How to evacuate and communicate during an emergency. Those are the skills I hope people can learn here.
I have fought many wars in my lifetime. I do not wish to see any unnecessary blood spilled among our numbers here.
no subject
Feels way more important than the stuff he dealt with back in his old school.]
If we can't prevent an infection or anything like that in the first place, then we need to make up for it by preparing in ways that we can. [...] I know that I want to train my best so that my friends don't suffer again.
[And oh, he's talking to a veteran... Scott knows that it's probably old timey wars, but still.] Has it been hard for you still? Despite being part of many battles.
