Who: Everyone out there!
Where: Outskirts of the Aldrip - Training Grounds
What: It's time for the Boot(y) Camp! The Chosen of Aldrip have all been invited to train, learn and spar!
Warnings: Other than the general violence? TBA..!



It is early morning on the 9th of September. The sun is shining, the air is fresh and nicely brisk, which means that it is just perfect time for Aldrip's first ever group training! How did you find your way there? Who knows! Maybe you were one of the people who saw the original announcement on the network, or noticed posters about it around Adlrip. Or maybe you were brought here by friendly white boar. Well, whatever the reason is what matters is that you are here. Welcome.

The empty field near the outskirts of the City has been transformed into a makeshift training camp. There are couple of tents set up around the camp. Some of them work as rather simplified armories containing pretty limited amount of blades, axes, armors, firearms, bows and arrows and what have you. Feel free to pick your poison, so to speak, but be sure to return what you borrow. Richard is keeping an eye on the weapons and will notice if something goes missing. Of course, characters are more than welcomed to use their own weapons and armors etc. Other tents are for resting, ER practice and dining. The lunch is sponsored by the Sandwich Hut.

The official training areas and their respective teachers/staff are the following:

Spiritual training/magic: Kurama, Douman, Kakashi
First-aid: Ethlyn, Morph, Bones
Rescue training: Morph, Bones
Hand-to-hand combat: Jirk Jim & Spock, Kakashi
Tech support: Jirk Jim & Spock
Fire arms: Caitlyn, Levi
Swords & Melee: Richard, Hiei
Archery: Richard
Survival skills: Richard, Kurama
Military training: Jim & Spock, Miller, Richard
Endurance training: Bones
Lunch: Junpei (and Whitey the Albino Boar)

If there is an activity a character would like to do that isn't included in the list that's no problem. Feel free to create your own top-level with said activity or you know! Just the usual stuff that varies from silly hang-out to whatever your heart desires.

[Well, that tends to be the risk when you host open events like this. Richard hums approvingly and looks over the youth in front of him to gaze over the training grounds.]

None of this would have been possible without your and others help. For that you have my gratitude. [He flashes the other one a brief smile.] Although, I must admit you do not appear exactly as I imagined you to when we spoke over the communication device. Do not take my words for ill intent. But it does make me wonder about your home world.

[to his credit, kakashi only lets out the smallest huff - he's still sore over his run in with fauna, but there's no need to take that out on richard, whom he doesn't know that well in the first place. he'll just bottle it up for later.]

I didn't think people would think so much of it when I got here. I entered military service early, obviously. But the typical age of adulthood in my village is ten years old.

[that's when young ninja graduate from their training, and become full-fledged.]

But around here there are teenagers who act like children. What a nice world they must be from, eh?

[Richard doesn't know what a 'teenager' is, but what else is new? However, he feels like he gets the sentiment

There are plenty of adults who behave like children, too. [Peace does that to them, Richard assumes. He had seen it first hand how his brother, the King, who valiantly had led them to victory during the war had turned soft and lazy when the peace had fallen over their kingdom. Maybe that is why Richard had such hard time to adjusting to the life outside of the battlefield, he had always been too serious, always having to look out for and fix after His Highnesses meltdowns.]

When I was at that age I devoted my each awakening moment to the sword, honing my skills so that someday I would be of use to my father and brothers in the battle. Our country was engulfed in the horrific war and we didn't have luxury to play or for leasure. [Richard then takes couple steps towards the youth and reaches out to place his gloved hand on top of his shoulder.]

Not all are so lucky that they can choose the circumstances they're born into. There is no shame in that. Rather the opposite. It is because of this life we are capable to make difference here and protect those who can't.

[kakashi twitches subtly at the hand on his shoulder, but doesn't step away. is this guy trying to be...fatherly?]

Right. I'm proud to be born into a ninja clan. It's my duty to protect my village.

[he lifts his chin slightly, letting a little haughtiness slip in.]

And I'll protect the people here, even if some of them are extremely annoying.

[Ew.. It is comradery-like, you little dip shit. Anyway, he gives the other one a brief squeeze before withdrawing his hand.]

I'm afraid that I am not familiar with this ninja-class. I assume it refers to specially trained soldier, correct?

[Richard hold back a desire to roll his eyes at the statement.]

In my experience most people are more or less annoying. Although, it sounds like you have someone particular in your mind.

More or less. [they are, indeed, soldiers in the service of the daimyo.] Ninja have a wider range of duties than a mere foot soldier, specializing mostly in reconnaissance, infiltration and assassination.

[and occasionally they go to war with each other and fight using flashy magic attacks. you know. as you do.]

Tch. Just some...lady, [look how polite he is!!!] who thought she knew better than me for no reason. Didn't even come here to train, just to eat free food and be shitty.

A spy of sorts, then? [Richard supposes that utilizing children for such task would make sense. They are more often than not looked over by the grown ups around them, capable of sliding into spaces that others couldn't, seeing and hearing things that no one else should.]

I see. [This better not turn into whole another kind of "lady problem"!! Richard wants nothing to do with of the sort...] That is unfortunate. There will always be those who look down upon those they consider weak or wrong. I would not pay heed to their false preaching. With how much pride you showed towards your rank and status as a soldier I doubt that her words would do much to sway your resolve.

Among other things, yes. A ninja can be as exacting as a needle or as blunt as a kunai.

Of course not. It's just annoying. She wanted to save me...the gall. I probably have more experience in battle than she could dream of.

[Richard doesn't know what a ku--, you know what. Never mind.

He huffs out a sardonic laughter, an amused smirk curling up to his mouth.]

Save you, hm? Did she think I was keeping you here against your will?

Apparently it was outside her understanding that I might have volunteered for this training exercise.

[needless to say, he's not impressed.]

I got rid of her in the end, though. I walked away and she didn't follow, thank kami.

Well. It would be the first time I have been accusing of kidnapping children.

[He says, shaking his head a little in amused disbelief. Not to discredit Kakashi, of course. While he might be a tad bit too young for his own liking he can definitely understand that sometimes that's how it is. Kids need to grow up fast and grab a sword to defend their homes and what not.] Good. If she brings you more trouble, feel free to tell me.

Now, can you show me what is this 'kunai' you talked about earlier?

Sure, [he says easily. from within one of his hip pouches he withdraws a kunai and offers it to richard.]

It's a type of throwing knife. Perfectly balanced, of course.
