[training mingle] Let's get down the business!
Who: Everyone out there!
Where: Outskirts of the Aldrip - Training Grounds
What: It's time for the Boot(y) Camp! The Chosen of Aldrip have all been invited to train, learn and spar!
Warnings: Other than the general violence? TBA..!
It is early morning on the 9th of September. The sun is shining, the air is fresh and nicely brisk, which means that it is just perfect time for Aldrip's first ever group training! How did you find your way there? Who knows! Maybe you were one of the people who saw the original announcement on the network, or noticed posters about it around Adlrip. Or maybe you were brought here by friendly white boar. Well, whatever the reason is what matters is that you are here. Welcome.
The empty field near the outskirts of the City has been transformed into a makeshift training camp. There are couple of tents set up around the camp. Some of them work as rather simplified armories containing pretty limited amount of blades, axes, armors, firearms, bows and arrows and what have you. Feel free to pick your poison, so to speak, but be sure to return what you borrow. Richard is keeping an eye on the weapons and will notice if something goes missing. Of course, characters are more than welcomed to use their own weapons and armors etc. Other tents are for resting, ER practice and dining. The lunch is sponsored by the Sandwich Hut.
The official training areas and their respective teachers/staff are the following:
Spiritual training/magic: Kurama, Douman, Kakashi
First-aid: Ethlyn, Morph, Bones
Rescue training: Morph, Bones
Hand-to-hand combat:Jirk Jim & Spock, Kakashi
Tech support:Jirk Jim & Spock
Fire arms: Caitlyn, Levi
Swords & Melee: Richard, Hiei
Archery: Richard
Survival skills: Richard, Kurama
Military training: Jim & Spock, Miller, Richard
Endurance training: Bones
Lunch: Junpei (and Whitey the Albino Boar)
If there is an activity a character would like to do that isn't included in the list that's no problem. Feel free to create your own top-level with said activity or you know! Just the usual stuff that varies from silly hang-out to whatever your heart desires.
Also for references sake: here is the OG ooc info post about regarding the mingle

Not that it's completely unheard of--not in a place like the City--but this place seemed peaceful enough that...
...Nevermind. When is anything ever that simple?]
< I guess I was a little too obvious. >
[Their shoulders lift and drop in a soundless sigh.]
< ...Yeah. A lot of it's pretty useful, so it's hard to tell where to start. >

he's making assumptions again. he has to stop doing that. don't people make enough about sephiroth, too?
resetting himself, he straightens, glance sweeping from dante out to the rest of the training grounds, neutral expression twitching slightly with consideration. ]
Well.. I guess that depends on how comfortable you are with the idea of injuring or killing another person, and how close you want to be to it. [ a glance back up, then. ] And other factors, of course: how strong you are physically, how steady your hands are, what your pain tolerance is, how much effort you want to put into training.. [ et cetera. ] But.. the first one is the most important, I think.

[They wince, realizing how that must sound, and decide to clarify]
< That kind of violence is normal where I come from--even moreso with our job. Not that everyone's trying to get into a fight, but that's just how it turns out sometimes. >
[They shrug and stuff their hands into their pockets.]
< Normally I'm in the back, but since I'm on my own here, it made sense to try and learn something new, you know? >

Depending on how familiar you are with weapons-handling yourself, I suppose I'd normally suggest something like a shotgun or an electro-rod to begin with, since they don't require much precision. [ if you want a way to protect yourself immediately, they're not bad options, though he hasn't noticed any electricity-based weapons here yet. ] Still, there's something to be said for personal taste, as well. [ some people just like certain weapons over others. sephiroth doesn't have any strong opinions himself, though he's grown a little fond of some of the swords he's been given. it's silly to assign emotional value to weapons, though, particularly when they can be broken-- or replaced by his handlers. ] I'm personally beginning with the areas I feel are my weakest. [ with firearms so prevalent, for instance, archers are almost unheard of in midgar. as such, he has no practical experience with a bow. ]
It sounds as if you normally work with a team? [ something like the P0 team he'd been with? what does a person with a clock for a head.. do where they're from? ]
no subject
[They nod.]
< Yup. 12 people--13 including me. I'm the Manager, so I'm usually there keeping things coordinated. > [Among other, more painful duties...]
< Unfortunately, combat's my weakest area in general, so I might have to go with something simple. >

A blunt instrument of some sort, then. War-hammer, axe, electro-rod.. that sort of thing. [ he still favors the electro-rod over other things, given its disabling effect, but that might be asking too much here.
he lowers his arms, then glances back up, blinking once in apparent realization. ] .. I apologize. You haven't asked for my input.
no subject
[An electro-rod again... It certainly sounds like they'd have more luck with that than the other two. A war-hammer sounds like it'd swing them around just as much as they swing it.]
< Huh? N-No, it's fine! You know more about this kind of thing than I do, so I appreciate the help. It doesn't bother me at all. >
[The ticking of the clock slows, sounding almost thoughtful as they think of the best way to put him at ease.]
< ...My name's Dante. What's yours? >
no subject
Sephiroth, [ he answers after a brief pause, polite as always. ] It's a pleasure to meet you. [ he pushes silver-white hair back behind an ear, the slightest, uncertain frown crossing his expression. ] I don't know much about living here, or away from my handlers in general, but.. I do know a bit about weapons and their use. [ it's.. nice to feel helpful, however little. he's not used to that. ]
no subject
["Handlers." That's a new one. Is it because of Sephiroth's ability, they wonder? Or is he some sort of VIP back in his own world? It's hard to tell from what he's said so far.]
[There's also that name, similar yet ever so slightly different from what the managers of Lobotomy Corporation called themselves. It's probably a coincidence, they think. ...Even if some of the coincidences they've encountered have been downright eerie lately.]
< That makes two of us. Well, not the weapons, obviously, but showing up in a place completely different from what you're used to. >
[They look back towards this mismatched buildings of Aldrip.]
< Never knew a city could be that small. Or that a place could have more than one city, for that matter. >
no subject
[ there are some very large towns, and at least one or two small cities that he's aware of, but midgar is.. quite massive. ]
.. What is your home like? What is it you do? You said violence is normal.
no subject
< Ah... Um... Where to begin? >
[There's a lot to explain, and a lot they're sure they're not supposed to explain.]
< I agree with you that that's more of a town, for one. Aldrip's not even the size of a single District in The City, and there are 26 of those, each with their own cultures and migration procedures. >
[They reach up and tug at the left sleeve of their coat, displaying the white outline of the company logo.]
< I'm with Limbus Company. It's pretty new. We handle these things called Distortions--research, investigation, suppression... that kind of thing. Though we usually get stuck with the last two... >
[They shake their head and let the sleeve go.]
< ..You said you're used to only one city too? >
no subject
their city sounds a little bit like midgar, too, though if its districts are comparable.. it must be much, much larger than sephiroth's home. he wants to ask about it, about the limbus company and these distortions, but he's been asked a question, so he bites his tongue for now as he considers how to answer. ]
One.. large city. I think that Junon would be considered a city, though I've never been. I grew up in Midgar, which is the largest population center on our planet right now.
[ a pause to be certain he's answered adequately, then he tacks on a question of his own. ] Are Distortions anything like fiends? .. Monsters that attack and kill humans.
no subject
< Sometimes? Sort of. It's a little more complicated than that. Distortions are human. Or used to be human, anyway. Sometimes, when someone is pushed to their emotional limits, they start to hear a voice and they... change. Most of the ones I've seen end up lashing out and attack people one way or another. >
