[open/mingle] everyone needs a hobby
Who: anyone in Aldrip who wants a hobby
Where: Kotone's club building!
What: It's finally time... forschool clubs to be available.
Warnings: None as of yet, but please let me know if I need to edit this!
There's been a building under construction at the edge of town for a few months now; it looks as though at one point it had been a small warehouse for dry goods and storage that hadn't seen use in quite some time before being acquired by Kotone. When time allowed, she's been working on retrofitting it into what could almost (almost) be mistaken for a school practice building on the inside. Now, a sign has been posted on the open door, quite descriptively labeling it as Club Building Now Open!! Come in!!
Interested in starting a sports team, or just want somewhere indoors and relatively open? There's a volleyball net, balls, and various other kinds of sports equipment that Kotone was able to find/buy/acquire around town for the months she's been preparing. There are also some (wooden practice) weapons available for training and sparring, and a few lockers and showers nearby. They're available for anyone to use at any time, though if anyone breaks a window with her things, she'll be so disappointed and expect help fixing it. :(
While not true classrooms in that there's no school and not very many desks, there are several empty rooms available to be repurposed into an activity room. In one room, one can find a very small assortment of musical instruments; in another, a few easels and art supplies. Another room that's far better outfitted is a room with a cute handwritten sign reading Sewing Club! π on its door. Inside, as one might expect, there are two dressforms and several bolts of cloth alongside some Aldrip-style (read: vintage) sewing machines, as well as plenty of needles and thread.
One of the places that had taken her the longest to set up was the galley-style kitchen and tables. While it may not be the most modern or ornate kitchen in the world, it features the kind of appliances the Chosen would expect to find in Aldrip. It's very much a bring-your-own-ingredients situation, aside from basic spices and bulk staples that are available for anyone -- Kotone doesn't exactly have the same kind of funding a real school's Cooking Club would have, after all! -- but perhaps more importantly, it has a decent selection of pans, trays, and other cooking and baking supplies in the cabinets and cupboards.
Shinjiro has posted a simple sign that says "Cooking Club" on the door. Another sign says "Wash your hands."
What would a protagonist's building be without a flat roof to climb up to and stare wistfully into the distance? It's a roof. There's a few benches, or you can just stand on it. Be careful!!
This is also where Scott's Teens With Abilities and Talents club meets. Come say hello!
[This is an open mingle! Use it for all your club-creating/club-joining purposes. Feel free to assume that as long as no one is intentionally and obviously going to cause harm with their club, Kotone will approve it and make sure they have a room and (basic) supplies! The pictures are just a guide; adapt a classroom however you see fit! For organizational purposes, there's an open OOC post for club sign-ups here!]

So is that the kinda arrangement where anyone can just come in and do their own thing, or are we actually expected to be all buddy-buddy with each other?
[ It's not hard to tell from his tone of voice that he's not exactly enamored by the idea of the latter option. ]

So, now that she's secured some income by trading in animal carcasses for meat and other pieces, she wants to find a way to be social. So, a sewing club and a cooking club sound right up her alley.
She's silent as she makes her way into the sewing club's room, watching the girl at the machine as she works on her project so diligently.]
A-ah. [God, she's so bad with interpersonal interactions. Where are Alphen and Rinwell when she really needs them?!?] Sorry. I didn't mean to stop you. I... I was just watching you work and wondering what you were putting together.

The rooftop club
Juri doesn't really have any "abilities" or "powers" that one could count as otherworldy. Being able to shoot lasers out one's eyes or teleporting from place to place, strangely enough, didn't belong to her world. Now, magical transformations, boxing kangaroos and noble spirits manifesting as a swords that sprout from chests are a whole different story, of course.
But! Despite her status as the "normal bowling-girl" Scott had invited her over. Which she gladly accepts. After all she needs to create more contacts if she ever wants to get back up in the game.
Still, she's not the most social person so she'll just be hanging somewhere in the background, playing cards against herself while enjoying the fresh breeze.]

[Oh, sorry, was she having fun playing cards all alone? Not on her watch! Without waiting for permission, Kotone drops down to sit across from the other girl, tucking her knees under her skirt with a bright smile.]

Gymnastics Club!! OTA. just the one prompt for now
She got a lil hand-made sign and everything!
And of course Sumi wouldn't be able to pass up an opportunity to showcase all her hard work as an advertisement for her club.
She does two performances. One with ball and another featuring the hoop. She's carefully controlled, having trained hard for this since she was small, and the hard work shows.
When she's done she bursts into delighted laughter, stretching her arms above her head in delight at the familiar ache of a job well done, smiling around and giving a wave at anyone who came to watch before she walks over]
Hello! Did you enjoy the show?

[Kotone is clapping enthusiastically after she's done. She was good, she didn't cheer or holler or make a lot of noise while Violet was obviously practicing, but! Now that she's done, it's Racket-Making Time.]

Wandering; the roof
[For the first time in a while, Tsuna has found something familiar. Certainly it's not a school, but it's familiar enough to provide some relief. Even as he just sort of wanders and explores.
Though, for the moment he's paused by the gym. If Ryohei or Yamamoto were here they would probably request something to do with boxing or baseball, but it doesn't look like he has to worry about a sumo club. At least for the moment. The thought makes him smile.
He's a little lost in thought, looking at one of the practice weapons and holding it awkwardly in his hands.]
[On the Roof]
[A school (ish) roof is no surprise to Tsuna. He's spent more than enough time on the roof of Namimori Middle, usually for lunch. But sometimes for other things to, best left shoved aside. But he's used to being with his friends, and they aren't here right now. So instead, it's just him.
Without someone like Yamamoto or Ryohei around to be loud or be social, Tsuna retreats a little. He's still shy, and awkward and doesn't really know what he's doing. It occurs to him that most of his friends have come slamming into his life rather than him introducing himself. Probably not the best trait for a future mafia boss.
But he finally works up the courage.]
This is for that Teens with Abilities club on the network, right?
[Wildcard]
[Open for shenanigans or plotting at
roof
not really. At least having shades hides some of his more anxious feelings and he has to wear them, so no one can call him out on it.
Some of that worry eases though as he sees Tsuna. Cool, the kid that said he'll come actually did. Plus, it looks like he didn't get lost trying to find the club.]
Tsuna, right? You're in the right place, since I'm here.

On the Roof
Things are different. It's strange, and scary, and maybe a little exciting up under those sensations... but right now, the nerves have come in full-force, and he's standing there looking a bit nauseated.... smiling awkwardly at people and offering little tips of his head. He'd met Scott here early so he could go over some things privately, regarding his own situation.... and to make sure it's really okay that he's here. After all, his "ability" is.... well.
Probably pretty bizarre, even among a group of bizarre teenagers.
But he's still going to try.... That's when he spots a familiar face and makes his way over, holding his hand up in a little wave. ]

[ .. it'd probably help if Ange sounded a little more excited, but.. you know, you have to work with what you have to work when you're dealing with a girl who loves presenting the whole emo teen front a little bit too much. It leaves her voice just as flat as they spoke before when she speaks up.
But.. hey, at least she did show up? That's something, right? ]
Seems like it's not too busy just yet though.

But still. He counts as some kind of teen with some kind of weird ability, and... here he is. To potentially meet up with others, learn more about what they can do, maybe even? Make some friends??? (Imagine)
It has been so long since he's talked to fellow young people like this, and Shinichi's wearing all of his nerves on his sleeve when he makes his way up to the roof... but when he spots the other teen, he's making his way over, offering a friendly (if not mildly nauseated) smile. ]

Rooftop
[The leadup to the first TWAT meeting has Izuku feeling like he's about to vibrate out of his skin. He never thought he'd be actually, genuinely excited to join a club, let alone attend a club meeting. And now it's finally happening, and he's here, and yet again he finds himself realizing he has no idea what he's doing.
For once, it's not even not knowing what to do socially that's tripping him up the hardest. Not that the perpetual low-key anxiety over Doing Teenager Wrong isn't still there, of course. It's mostly that the more he thinks about it, the more he looks around at the kinds of people showing up and mulls Scott's pitch for the club over in his head, the more he realizes...he doesn't know how to talk to people who don't take the existence of Quirks as not just normal but expected, and he doesn't know how to tell who those people are.
He wants to talk about Quirks and Quirklessness. He wants to learn about the wonderful powers of those who have them, and lives and worlds of those who don't. But to do that, he has to figure out who should be asked about what, and how, and if they even want to be asked at all. Which means he has to get to know people first. By socializing. Like an ordinary teenager.
So anyone who hasn't met Izuku before might find themselves approached by a nervous, plain-looking boy clutching a notebook with a green patterned cloth cover to his chest like a lifeline.]
H-hi. Um, are you here for the club too...?
[One would think a kid with muscles like his would be more self-assured. One would be wrong.]
Hero Analysis For My Future, Aldrip Edition (Closed to Scott)
[The meeting goes...fine, he supposes. He gets to know some new people, and he doesn't cause irreparable harm to his reputation or any relationships with other club members. Probably. He hopes.
But as things wrap up, something about his demeanor noticeably shifts in a way that some will have had the opportunity to see before and others not. Less nervous, more shy, tension bleeding from the way he holds himself and replaced by a giddy sort of energy. And the second it's clear the meeting is officially over and Scott is completely unoccupied, he heads directly for the other boy. Izuku is now a nerd on a mission.]
Scott! [He is absolutely beaming as he raises his notebook like an of offering.] I finished that write up I promised! So, if you're free now...
[Please ignore the fact that he is practically glowing with anticipation. This is a perfectly normal state of Izukuness. Do not be alarmed.]

But thoughts about the club are pushed aside as he sees Deku walking to him, looking like he's on a personal mission. The mutant hasn't forgotten their conversation and while a small part of him is nervous, he's mostly excited to see what he can learn from him. It's a big step to understanding his powers and everything.]

rooftop ( for Ange Ushiromiya )
Surprisingly, Migi's on-board for it.... (because he wants to observe other humans with "abilities") but Shinichi's still struggling with his nerves, and with what the alien might do. So far, he thankfully hasn't really been causing any issues, and is still keeping something of a low profile. Exposing himself directly to the wrong person could have consequences, after all, and even Migi doesn't want to stir up an unneeded confrontation. For now, he's just staying in his inconspicuous hand form...
So Shinichi does make his rounds, shyly approaching people to greet them. And he quickly learns that he's not the only nervous one around here; several of the other teens seem just as unused to this sort of thing as he is. It gives Shinichi a certain boldness to try and step up a bit, try to help them, if he can. So when he sees a girl on her own over at a corner of the roof, he doesn't have to think twice about heading over. It's with a little plate of food β some of the snacks Scott set out, chips and dip β and a shy but genuine smile as one hand lifts in a little wave and the other holds the plate up a bit. ]
Hello....! Have you had anything to eat yet?
no subject
[ .. well, that sure is one way to reply to being greeted in such a kind and friendly way by someone obviously trying to make some conversation, huh.. Especially when it's said in Ange's trademark flat tone.
At least Ange doesn't sound like she's rejecting the offer. In fact, she even reaches out to take one of the snacks off the plate Shinichi is holding. Clearly she's up for having some more, despite the fact she's already had snacks..
But at least she's slowly realising something about his voice. She only heard him before, after all, so she doesn't recognize this face, but the voice slowly reminds her of someone she spoke to before..
Or so she thinks, anyway. ]
You're the infected guy, right?
[ It's a good thing she's got the right person in mind, because that sure is one wild thing to say to a stranger, especially if you've mistaken them.. But no, you're right, Ange. It is the infected guy.
Despite the fact she asks it so bluntly though, there's some kindness in it (especially since Shinichi was so nice to her before, even if Ange has absolutely zero idea of how to reciprocate that). She's making sure to not say it loud enough that anyone else here could hear, for one, and her tone isn't unkind either. Just.. really flat.
They're very small kindnesses though. Easy to miss. Especially in the face of her just.. being so direct with that question.. ]
