[open/mingle] everyone needs a hobby
Who: anyone in Aldrip who wants a hobby
Where: Kotone's club building!
What: It's finally time... forschool clubs to be available.
Warnings: None as of yet, but please let me know if I need to edit this!
There's been a building under construction at the edge of town for a few months now; it looks as though at one point it had been a small warehouse for dry goods and storage that hadn't seen use in quite some time before being acquired by Kotone. When time allowed, she's been working on retrofitting it into what could almost (almost) be mistaken for a school practice building on the inside. Now, a sign has been posted on the open door, quite descriptively labeling it as Club Building Now Open!! Come in!!
Interested in starting a sports team, or just want somewhere indoors and relatively open? There's a volleyball net, balls, and various other kinds of sports equipment that Kotone was able to find/buy/acquire around town for the months she's been preparing. There are also some (wooden practice) weapons available for training and sparring, and a few lockers and showers nearby. They're available for anyone to use at any time, though if anyone breaks a window with her things, she'll be so disappointed and expect help fixing it. :(
While not true classrooms in that there's no school and not very many desks, there are several empty rooms available to be repurposed into an activity room. In one room, one can find a very small assortment of musical instruments; in another, a few easels and art supplies. Another room that's far better outfitted is a room with a cute handwritten sign reading Sewing Club! 💖 on its door. Inside, as one might expect, there are two dressforms and several bolts of cloth alongside some Aldrip-style (read: vintage) sewing machines, as well as plenty of needles and thread.
One of the places that had taken her the longest to set up was the galley-style kitchen and tables. While it may not be the most modern or ornate kitchen in the world, it features the kind of appliances the Chosen would expect to find in Aldrip. It's very much a bring-your-own-ingredients situation, aside from basic spices and bulk staples that are available for anyone -- Kotone doesn't exactly have the same kind of funding a real school's Cooking Club would have, after all! -- but perhaps more importantly, it has a decent selection of pans, trays, and other cooking and baking supplies in the cabinets and cupboards.
Shinjiro has posted a simple sign that says "Cooking Club" on the door. Another sign says "Wash your hands."
What would a protagonist's building be without a flat roof to climb up to and stare wistfully into the distance? It's a roof. There's a few benches, or you can just stand on it. Be careful!!
This is also where Scott's Teens With Abilities and Talents club meets. Come say hello!
[This is an open mingle! Use it for all your club-creating/club-joining purposes. Feel free to assume that as long as no one is intentionally and obviously going to cause harm with their club, Kotone will approve it and make sure they have a room and (basic) supplies! The pictures are just a guide; adapt a classroom however you see fit! For organizational purposes, there's an open OOC post for club sign-ups here!]

roof
not really. At least having shades hides some of his more anxious feelings and he has to wear them, so no one can call him out on it.
Some of that worry eases though as he sees Tsuna. Cool, the kid that said he'll come actually did. Plus, it looks like he didn't get lost trying to find the club.]
Tsuna, right? You're in the right place, since I'm here.
Re: roof
Yeah, that's me. You're Scott?
I'm glad I made it.
no subject
[He didn't get any activities set up, but there's a few plates of food placed on one of the benches. It's definitely not much, but chips and dip always goes far, alongside some pastries. No vegetable platter though because what sort of teenager would voluntarily eat that!!]
So uh, there's no tryouts or anything like that. [No paper applications either because who wants to keep up with that.] But I'm assuming you got an ability or talent.
no subject
Of course at the mention of an ability, he goes back to looking a little nervous.]
Uh, yeah...yeah, I do.
You just said no tryouts but do I need to show it off?
no subject
[He gets feeling uncomfortable and shit. Of course, Professor Xavier wanted him to show off his powers in order to get enrolled, but that was an actual school for mutants. This is just... a club that he's made for teens to hang out and stuff. Nothing super strict here.]
I get if you're, you know. [Scott waves a hand as if he understands. Maybe he doesn't like using his powers or it's just uncontrollable. He knows how that goes. Still, the mutant tilts his head in slight curiosity, pushing just slightly.] Did you want to talk about it at all?
no subject
[Tsuna has been waffling on this. Given how prevalent the Dying Will flames are in his life, he's pretty used to them, but he also can't remember how much of a secret they actually are in his world. Which probably speaks volumes to how much the mafia has invaded his life, which...yeesh.
But also, how much does that even matter here? No one knows about Byakuran or Millefiore, and that can probably be extrapolated to Vongola. Is it really worth keeping a secret? Especially since, he's in a club with a lot of people with powers?]
How do I explain....uh....have you ever heard of Dying Will?
no subject
[While he may not be as excited as some others when learning about new abilities from other worlds, he is genuinely interested. Sure, he'll always be most excited if he ever comes across another mutant here, but that doesn't stop the curiosity radiating off the mutant as he tilts his head as well in response.]
Sounds pretty cool though. [So, Tsuna gets a bonus point for that!]
no subject
It can be.
Basically, it's like your life force. And if you can tap into it, it takes the form of flames. It gives someone the ability to fight like their life depends on it.
[Among other things, but it gets embarrassing after a point. At least for Tsuna.]
no subject
[Using your own life force to fight?? Flames?? Sure, there are mutants that can also conjure fire, but this is still a bit different. Scott bites his lip, clearly stopping himself from asking Tsuna to demonstrate. He said he won't push it and he won't, but Dying Will man.
Although...
One of Scott's eyebrows furrows as a thought suddenly comes across him.]
It doesn't uh, take away how long you live though, right? [Using your whole life force and everything...]
no subject
[In Hyper mode? Sure. The normal mode...is something Tsuna would rather not talk about. He's screamed enough embarrassing secrets to the world.]
N-no...I don't think so. It's more like, a constant force, I guess, or energy's probably a better word.
no subject
My optic blasts is sort of a constant force too, I mean, they're always shooting from my eyes. Probably not the same thing, but. [He shrugs before burying his hands in his pockets, not really knowing where else to go with that.] Good that you aren't using years of your life to powerup and crap.
no subject
[Unless it was like, one of those sacrificial emergencies. Mostly he just gets really tired if he uses too much.]
But...you. You shoot stuff from your eyes?
[Colour him...impressed? Scared? A mix of both?]
no subject
[It's definitely gotten easy just saying that out loud. Helps that everyone he's met has been super chill with him. Honestly, he feels like he's been able to make more friends since his change.]
Did you want to see?
no subject
[There's a part of him that feels like they might be doing something dangerous, but at the same time, this is all about talents and abilities, right?]
I mean, I sort of have an idea since I can use my flames as a blast to.
no subject
[Then they can... relate and shit. Or whatever. The whole purpose of this club!! Maybe it will also give Scott a better idea of Dying Will, based on how Tsuna reacts and everything.
But with that, Scott tilts his head to the sky and takes off his shades, letting those two red beams emerge from his eyes and pierce through the air without a single delay.]
no subject
That's...wow!
I guess, seeing that in action, they'd be similar to Hard Flames.
But, is that just a constant thing?
no subject
Yeah, it's a constant thing. [His smile fades for a bit, like something is bothering him, but the mutant tries his best to look neutral or unaffected with what he's about to say next. It's not like he can really avoid admitting this...]
Can't turn them off, it's why I'm always wearing these sunglasses.
no subject
[A question asked honestly, and sympathetically. It is a cool power, but to have it constantly be on like that can't be easy. He's seen the extreme effects of a power you can't turn off, though very different powers in this case.]
no subject
[Scott retorts, but he soon grimaces, instantly regretting the way he snapped at the other teen. It's not really how he wants to act as club president and getting people to stay in said club. Like, he's fine being a dick in other situations and to other people, just not now. He pushes his anger down, trying to look more levelheaded once more.]
...Yeah, but. It's fine. [Sort of, not really?? But he's not going to dump all his feelings on Tsuna.]
no subject
I’m sorry.
It’s just…I get it, sort of. I mean…my flames are more or less under control now but when I first started using them…
I shouldn’t have asked. Sorry.
no subject
...You do? You mean you had a hard time controlling your powers at first?
no subject
[Tsuna looks a little embarrassed now.]
When I first started learning how to use the Dying Will, I'd kinda go berserk, and end up in my underwear, running around town.
It took a long time to get it under control so I wouldn't do that.
no subject
This knowledge does a lot to lighten Scott's mood, and even though he's clearly amused, there's something a little sympathetic in his voice as well.]
God, really? That must've been embarrassing as hell.
no subject
[Being an alleged pervert on top of already being a loser was a rough time. But making friends with some of the more popular kids helped.]
But, I guess what I'm trying to say is that I sort of get it.
no subject
[Yeah, he can imagine Tsuna having a pretty bad reputation at school if he was around in his underwear a lot.]
Even I can't compete with that. [Scott smiles wryly.] But thanks. I don't really have to worry about losing my clothes when I use my powers, but think I frightened some of the other mutants back at school. At least at first.
[Guess they're not really scared of him anymore?? Just of Jean, which he doesn't really get. She's pretty and cool, okay!!] They probably still would be if I didn't have these glasses.
