▶ THE LAST DROP W/ JINX — catch-all open thru out the month。
sometime early in the month
Miller had an enlightening conversation with Silco back before the Gnosia virus took over the city. While he's hardly had the chance to take up his offer of security work at the bar, now they've been granted a temporary respite again. After what has transpired, it can hardly be seen as a lighthearted desire to keep busy, but nonetheless, he decides to take the opportunity to visit while he can. The conversation had also granted him some insight on Silco's daughter as well...
It's late and the bar is lit by fluorescent neons. While it isn't necessarily a surprise to see her situated at the bar, somehow he'd not been certain he'd ever just run into Jinx by chance. Yet now that he's happened, unceremoniously, he appears to take the seat at her right. ]
It's been some time, Jinx. How have you been faring?
no subject
but when she senses a body slumping in a stool next to her, her attention shifts — ready to cause mayhem for the victim, but only to see it's miller instead. the bluenette beams excitedly and rolls her oil crayons somewhere off the barkeeper's side of the table. ]
Hiya, Chief! Oh, y'knooooow. Been a little of here, been a little of there, shooting stuff, drawing on people's faces while they beg at me to lemme go, but then I just draw on them harder. The usual!!
Say, what about you? What's been firecracking?
no subject
Maybe he's been kind of getting used to her energy anyway, because the response garners a tinge of a smile from one corner of his mouth. ]
I'm glad you seem to be in better spirits.
[ Yeah, that is what he grasped from that. ]
This last incident has to be the worst thing we've suffered through yet. I'm still trying to make amends for the damages myself... And the Council has been oddly silent on this matter even as the city around us seems to be struggling to stay together. You've seen it, too, right? [ How could she not? ] Suddenly people are changing into different versions of themselves, we can't speak the same language anymore, or the walls of reality are just caving in completely! It's a mess.

[ it's a sunny day out in the countryside, the golden rays of the sun illuminate the vibrant landscape, and a gentle breeze that helps nature come alive in a harmonious symphony of warmth and coolness. under the azure sky, the world seems to sparkle with life as birds chirp merrily and butterflies flutter gracefully from flower to flower. on top of a slope, is a long table filled with trays of dishes, from desserts, to vegetables, to pastas, and grilled/baked meats. rogue is seen setting up the final touches of a tarp tent — to provide shade for anyone who wishes to stay awhile to sit, eat and converse with her or others.
with everything done, rogue takes a few steps back to give her handiwork one good look over. and while she seems pretty satisfied with its appearance, her smile falters into a melancholy curl. the mutant remembers a time that seems so long ago now, when the X-Men had a gathering similar to this, with their laughter and conversations filling the air as they enjoyed good food, and each other's company.
she can almost picture her family's joyful faces, and hear someone scolding about how sharing is caring and to not hog all the refreshments. a simpler time that she weights heavy on her now, if those peaceful days of home are forever long gone.
her heart sinks at the thought, but her optimism quickly bubbles to the surface. even if things look hopeless or grim, the x-men will always come up on top in the end, so this is just another one of those things. everything will work out and everyone in this world/simulation will be able to return home safe and sound, she'll make sure of that. it's her duty as an x-man. breathing out a sigh, she hovers over to the table to make her own plate — one of the worst things in life is wasting food. ]

They flew back to the picnic - if you could call that much food a picnic - while still in Archangel's form, the sun reflecting off of their metallic wings as they land in the grass. Morph peers into the tent just to see if any other Chosen had shown up yet, but then shift back to their natural form in short order. They just wanted to make sure no one was around to overhear them spilling their guts.]
Wow, Rogue, you really outdid yourself with all this.
no subject
Aww, this? It's about the same as how I would usually cook.
[ actually, it's a little more than usual, but she isn't going to admit that she got a little bit carried away in the kitchen while her mind was going off the rails over other things. ]

But he was hungry and whoever was having this party or whatever didn't need all that food. He thinks he's never seen so much food in one place! So he sneakily moves over to grab a plate. No one seemed to be watching right now, so he's just gonna start quickly adding food to the plate so he can take it and go before he gets caught.]
no subject
Well, hey there, Sweet pea! I take it you're mighty hungry, huh?
[ it saddens her heart to see his figure being so famished, which makes her hope the boy will stick around and not flee at the sight of her. ]

So, that's why he's here. And food. Right.
Things between him and Rogue are pretty complicated and he's not sure when or if that will change. Guess when it comes to her caring about other mutants though, she can be trusted. Easy to remember her coming to pick up Morph or helping with Kurt, but Scott also can't forget what she said over the tablets. Well, he's not here to pick a fight or an argument, just strolling over to where she and the food is with that glum disposition.]
...This is a nice spread, Rogue.
[He can say that much at least.]
no subject
being around aldrip amongst humans for a month who seemed to not care whether she is a mutant or not does bring a some relief to her heart. however, that doesn't mean she should lower her guard completely yet. just because they seem accepting, doesn't imply there might be a handful of intolerance out there somewhere. upon learning, scott has been here longer than anyone, and he appears to be fine and living nicely. but he is also a kid, and it's much easier to detest on an adult than a kid. only time will tell if she will have the same luck as her companion, but rogue is also not planning on overstaying her welcome here. there's still much to do back home, let alone, finding the x-men... wherever they might be. ]
[ lounging on a heavy-duty folding chair, she glances over at the mutant with a grin spreading wide over her face, again nervous but grateful he decided to stop by. food brings people together, and can even help bury down the hatchet. will her southern cuisine be strong enough to work its magic? whose to say. ]
Well howdy there, stranger! Thank ya muchly. — When ya sweatin' over a fiery stove, and it ain't coming out good, then you might as well be useful as a steering wheel on a mule.

▶ TIMEBOMB; I DIDN'T THINK I WOULD NEED HIM, SO HOW DID HE BECOME MY TORTURE? — priv.
[ when the boy savior stated that once he manages to get a place of his own, and he would assist her with her sleeping conundrum, jinx accepted his help ironically. in despite of him confessing his devoting feelings for her, and vice versa to him (except not in so many words or as passionate), jinx, in some way, thought he was bluffing. the bluenette should learn by now that whenever her counterpart says he will do something, he will one hundred percent do it with true intentions. so when jinx receives a message from ekko about obtaining his new home, she was dumbfounded, but all the while, it made her heart race with excitement and apprehension.
she spent many nights embracing her rocket launcher, the rare times she slept in her room alone, but cold metal is vastly different from a warm company. and there is something about hearing the steady breathing of another that gives her a sense of tranquility and security. jinx hates this needy part of her, and wishes she was the type of person who can just stand alone and live comfortably in isolation. but the silence haunts her whenever she's alone, and the deads' jagged claws take pleasure in prickling at her skin underneath her covers. ]
[ luckily for the teenager, she didn't need to come up with an excuse to where she would be heading tonight. silco informed her he will be at the last drop for most of the evening, or allegedly so. he could be having his own sleepover somewhere for all she knows, or will be doing a little bit of both. work then a sleepover. normally, she would pout at her father's overworking habits, but it makes her meet up with ekko a lot easier.
with a duffle bag over her shoulder, jinx strolls out in the streets while digesting the city, once again malfunctioning. she contemplates over what would happen to her and everyone else if this doesn't get resolved soon. will they get warped into the void again and live yet another alternate life? if the next one is anything like her bakery life, she wouldn't be opposed to it, especially if it's simpler. her grip tightens on the strap when she spots ekko's newly home coming to view, and her face reddens over the realization that she is actually going to his home to not spend just a few hours there, but the whole night. all the way until morning.
she crashed at scott's home a few times when quentin was still in aldrip, but this is with an entirely different boy, and someone who is completely opposite of her ex. while she grew up with ekko and knows him like the back of her hand in a combative sense, this side of him is a brain-teaser. jinx isn't necessarily sure what to expect besides him being... passionate, and that alone is enough to make her feel inadequate. sure, she's an emotional individual too, but more so on the wrath side than anything. and quentin wasn't imperatively the romantic type, so this is something out of her comfort zone.
so when the bluenette approaches at the doorstep, she stares edgily at the wooden door before her. mylo looms over her shoulder cockily, hissing remarks in her ear over her cowardliness with the way she's hesitating. but his words are enough for her to summon up the courage to curl her knuckles to knock, then she quickly smooths her
featherslocks before straightening her spine, waiting. ]no subject
He'd prepared a little something for them to eat considering his own peckish appetite, surely Jinx being hungry given the after effects of Shimmer ravaged upon its victims. Ekko knew first hand the side effects but was pleasantly surprised how well she was managing by comparison to others even if it concerned him immensely. Perhaps there was an alternative means of medicine available here in Aldrip which could mirror the dreaded elixir? That would be a venture worth looking into if it meant removing its vicelike grip on her person for he'd seen what happened to their people in their fall from grace who were addicted to its power enhancing abilities.
In the kitchen putting the final touches on a simplistic stew he prepared the rap to the front door ushered out, turning down the stove to let the food simmer as he quickly moves from his station. Swiftly opening the door with a sincere smile plastered over his lips the fellow Zaunite shifts a bit to allow her entrance into his new place.]
You made it. Come on in. I hope you're hungry I made something for us to eat.
no subject
Hell yeah, I'm hungry!! Hope you made enough, because I'm going to clean house...!
[ giggling gaily, the bluenette maneuvers inside with her hair tailing behind (for once, not in two braids but a ponytail). she toes off her boots by the door and adjusts the duffle bag over her shoulder — deciding to maybe place it by the couch for the time being, until later. jinx uses this little moment, though, to take a quick glimpse around her counterpart's apartment, humming as she soaks in the layout and design (or lack of) for judgement. ]
Hmmm hmmm.... — Not TOO shabby, I guess. Plain-looking, like you.
[ she peeks to give him a teasing look over her shoulder while sticking her tongue out at him. the one thing ekko will notice, however, now that jinx is more in the room lightening, is the worn out look on her face. the dark and slight bag underneath her eyes are blinding against her pale complexion, and although she is putting up a persona of exhilarating energy — it's a little forced. ]

Before he can lift a hand to wave a welcome robot wheels out from beneath his robes and drifts across the road to stop in front of her.
After a silent pause, its front screen lights up with bright cheer. This is its moment!

Fandaniel bustles after it and scoops it into his arms, then looks Jinx over with a bewildered smile.]

and honestly, she's a bit envious she came at a time when the city was a bumpkin looking place, and wares were hard to come by. while many believes what ragna did was a stupid idea, in her opinion, it was probably the best thing he did for this place. to answer his question, the teenager paces on step behind her, then points to the snowy pathway behind her. ]
