[ rogue was in the air when young levi made his way to her little food fest, but when she finally touches the ground, she blinks bewilderedly at the child storing the dishes onto his plate in such a haste. the smile on her face warms as she approaches closer, hopefully careful enough to not spook the boy away. ]

Well, hey there, Sweet pea! I take it you're mighty hungry, huh?

[ it saddens her heart to see his figure being so famished, which makes her hope the boy will stick around and not flee at the sight of her. ]

Take as much as you want, I don't mind.

[solitarysoul]

[He doesn't notice Rogue land or head over, too focused on reaching a cupcake that's a little too far from the edge for him to reach easily. He jumps when she talks though, and back peddles away from the table holding his plate (of mostly meat) close and looking up at Rogue with wide eyes.]

I-I wasn't stealing! I was ju--

[Wait did she say he could take it? Well that helps because he had no idea what sort of lie to use there.]

...r-really?

Why, of course! I don't think I can gobble all of this up by my lonesome. I'mma need help with it.

[ she smiles bigger as she strolls over to take the nearest seat at the table. ]

So why don'tcha sit for a spell and enjoy yerself? I picked a nice spot where nothin' is gonna come and bother ya.

[solitarysoul]

[He watches her go, not sure if he can really trust her or not. She was really nice, but nice people weren't always nice. Some of the nuns could be really nice sometimes and horrifying at other times.

But he was hungry, and he figures as long as he sits out of her reach he can at least get a head start. So he snags that cupcake and goes to sit across from her at the table.]

I-it is nice out here.

[ while rogue might be wobbling on a tight rope on whether she is for or against humans (her opinion seems to change on a daily), the one thing she will always have a soft spot for is children. no matter if they are a mutant, a human, or of a different species entirely. amused by her new little buddy, the woman persists with her friendly and sweet southern hospitality and charm. ]

Ya know somethin'? I was just thinking the same thing. I haven't seen a pretty day like this in a long time. It might be a lil' muggy with it being summer and all, but it ain't too bad. Might go swimmin' later. You've ever been to the beach?

[solitarysoul]

Not to a real beach. Just the lake by Prehevil. T-thats where I'm from...I don't know where this is.

[He just kind of showed up but it's not like he looked for a way back or anything.]

Birdies been tellin' me this place is called Aldrip. Filled with a lotta friendly and colorful folks who work together to keep things nice and sweet.

[ whether this is true or not, is up to debate. after all, she's only been here for a solid month, and she barely knows a handful of people. but those she met so far seem to be nice enough, although, she isn't naive and knows there might be some bad eggs lingering in the shadows. yet telling a kid that is entirely out of the question right now. ]

Birdies?

[Not actual birds, right? People didn't talk to birds. But her accent was strange so maybe it meant something else where she came from.]

Thats, um, nice.

[He's obviously very skeptical of the folks working together to keep things nice part.]

I like to think so. [ she says at first, then playfully thumps herself at the side of her temple. ] Aw, looky at me! Over here steady flappin' and I didn't even introduce myself.

My name is Rogue. What's yours, Doodlebug?

I-I'm Levi. What's a doodlebug?

[southernchere]

They're just cute lil' fellas that crawl and roll around in the grass and dirt. Pretty harmless.

But it's nice to meetcha, Levi. Want me to get ya somethin' to drink? I got some orange and apple juice in the cooler. .

[solitarysoul]

Oh...okay.

[What? Why is she calling him a bug? She's so confusing, but he gets distracted by the offer of a drink. Juices were okay, but...]

D-do you have soda?

[southernchere]

A Coke I wasn't able to find, but how about we split down the middle for grape? It's both juice and can be a soda.

[ or maybe there is coca-cola products here in this city, but she hadn't explored well enough to know where the citizens are keeping them. but hopefully her little friend will steady for something that's a tad bit more healthy than a carbonated soft drink. ]

But I want a soda.

[Says the child who's food and drink intake is normally very controlled.]

[southernchere]

[ so this is what it feels like to have a child. still, her smile doesn't waver as she rests her cheek against her palm. ]

I know, Darlin'. How about we make that soda a treat, huh? Your lil' dessert for eatin' and drinking all the good stuff? You wanna be big and strong when ya get older, dontcha?

[solitarysoul]

[He considers for a moment.]

But I can have one later, right? Then I guess juice is fine.

[southernchere]

Ya darn right you can. — In fact, I'll let ya have another for dinner if ya don't got a place to stay for the night. I could use a brave boy like you around.

[ it's a bit of fib, of course. she doesn't need a child to assist her with anything, but given the physical appearance of levi's figure, he is obviously a orphan with no one to look after him. and rogue's conscience will damn her for life if she just allowed the little tyke to eat and run off by himself. ]

[Oh boy two sodas?!]

Okay!

U-uh....n-no I guess not. I'm not really sure where we are.

[southernchere]

Well, do you wanna stay with me then? That is, if I passed the test of being a cool gal for ya.

[solitarysoul]

Um...

[She was really nice, but he knows he shouldn't trust strangers. He's not supposed to talk to them at all, but she talked to him first. And he doesn't really have anywhere to stay...]

M-maybe. If I don't find the orphanage here.

[...actually he'd probably rather stay with the nice stranger.]

[southernchere]

[ it breaks her heart hearing this, but she doesn't let her smile waver or falter in the slightest. ]

Alright, after you eat, we'll go see if we can find one together. I bet there's loads of kids just waitin' to be your friend too.

[solitarysoul]

No-no I mean...

[He trails off. He meant the orphanage he lived at, but maybe another would be better? Though it could be worse too. He only had experience with the one, after all.]

...never mind. E-either works.

[Finding an orphanage or staying with her, that is.]

[southernchere]

Then it's a deal! Now eat up, Darling, I'm fixin' to get some tin foil to wrap some of these extra dishes up.

[ she grants the boy yet another warming smile before raises up to her feet, casually making her way to the buffet table to cover up the extras. ]

Okay!

[He starts on the cupcake, then the rest of his plate.]

[ he is such a cute kid, and it saddens her how children like him end up abandoned or in the system.

yet at least, if anything, if he has to think back on his day kater, he can say this was the nice part of it. but in time, rogue manages to seal all the food and then makes her way back to levi, grinning. ]

I'll have to remember the recipe for the next time I cook. Since you enjoyed this a lot.
