[As he explains himself, Aerith takes the opportunity he presents to her, and leans over to get a better look at the detailings in the pot. It’s a curious thing. Well-done. Beautiful to behold. When she thinks about how she sells flowers back home, she wonders if she’d have more success if she included pots. Likely not, she thinks. The people back home don’t all revere flowers. A pretty pot or two is not going to magically change that.

When he makes mention of the flowers he’d sent to her before, she perks right up (as if she wasn’t there already). Grinning from ear to ear, she sets her attention back onto him.]

They did! I’m taking very good care of them now, though I’m sure that they miss you a great deal. I’ll have to find a way to thank you.

What a high compliment. Are you sure you don't know more about me than you're letting on?

[She asks it teasingly. There's little reason Astralin would know the true nature of her person, what she's been through, what strange, otherworldly abilities she's come packed with, or the other little secrets that make up the young woman known as Aerith Gainsborough. But there are some in this world who are extraordinarily sharp. Wouldn't surprise her at all to find that Astralin is one of them.

Aerith nods when he makes mention of the little misadventure regarding the refrigerators. And a poor unfortunate repairman who got caught up in that. And the bittersweet ache that proper goodbyes don't appear to be a thing in this world.]

I did. I'd like to say that I helped repair stuff, but that's probably not true. I probably caused more upset than I actually helped. But I guess all that ends well is... well? However that goes. No one's starving. That's probably a win.

[He plays right along with her and the grin etched into her features only grows. He’s so very good at that, and it’s something she’s noticed from the very first time they met, back when they were escorting crates to and fro. Some people just have a gift, it seems. If everyone could be as personable as him, the world would be a much nicer place.

She nods in agreement. Hardships aside, it’s a good thing that they were ultimately able to take care of the others. Things could have ended up considerably worse.]

Hm… I think from a food standpoint, we’re pretty good. And I think we made a good impression on the people from that town. That’s probably the best of it. The forest was a little weird. I thought it was just me, but I heard other people saw things? Heard things, maybe. I’m still not really sure if there was anything there at all, but I had a strange feeling when we were passing through.

[Aerith wonders how to explain it. With a furrow in her brow, she taps at her chin.]

Kind of like we were on the verge of discovering a secret that we shouldn’t know?

Hrm...

[The more she hears about others experiencing similar things to her, the more uneasy it leaves her. Less a personal concern and more likely to be something greater. One or two people is coincidence. Anything more than that must mean something more. What that 'something more' is, however, is beyond her right now.

They'll have to figure it out at some point.]

I hope the same for you too. And everyone else who was travelling through it. I'm not saying we shouldn't worry about it, but things could definitely be worse. Honestly, I'm just happy to see a friendly and familiar face. I feel like I can face anything if you guys are here with me.

[Not that she couldn't handle it on her own. She could. It's just so much better with friends.]

Some would say that it's healthy and wise to have a little distrust for those they don't know very well. Considering the situation, it would be silly to expect you or anyone else not to feel that way. Just because we're in the same situation doesn't mean that we all view it the same way.

[To some people, this is a prison. To others, it's liberating. There's also the multiple shades of grey in between. Nothing is ever simple or straight forward. People, their feelings, their thoughts, those are quite the same. Aerith can't imagine ever expecting Astralin to think or feel any differently that is his personal truth. That's what makes it his, after all. And it's also what makes it so special and unique.]

I don't like to brag, but I'm pretty good in a fight when I have to be?

[Playfully, she flexes, though she's a small girl and there's not much impressive about her from a physical standpoint. Although some would say, and surely have before, that strength is not just physical. There's no doubt that she's incredibly resilient. Not unlike the flowers blooming in Midgar, otherwise, where so few do.]

I hope that you'll let me protect you too, Astralin. I think that's the way friends should be.
