Who: Astralin and you! Where: Meadowlands, on his new farm. What: Astralin needs help setting up his new farm, anyone is welcome to help out. Warnings: None.
Prompts below! If you want to mingle, feel free to make your own prompts.
[Kaeya has, unsurprisingly, spent quite a bit of time at the tavern since arriving. Such places are good for keeping a pulse on the goings on within the community, and while news of a farm being built would fail to grab his attention back home, it's a different story here. He's yet to learn much about the people here, so who knows? Poking around on the farm might yield something juicy.
With that in mind, Kaeya makes his way down to the farm to offer his... assistance? Well, the jury is still out on whether or not he'll be any help, but he's here anyway, singling out Astralin and greeting him with a broad grin and a wave.]
Good day! You must be the farmer everyone at the tavern is buzzing about.
[There's been so many people coming to the farm, but he takes note of who leaves, and who comes in. Though, he's finally taking a break when Kaeya arrives on the farm, and he comes to realize that he seems a bit different from these Aldrip citizens. Was he a Chosen...? It's a thought that comes to mind, and he readjusts himself to regard this strange, but interesting man. There was something about him that was definitely familiar magic wise, but he couldn't quite put his finger on it.]
Good day, Sir. Are you here to help with the farm?
[He seems friendly enough... Although Astralin can't help but give Kaeya a once over in curiosity. Needless to say, he liked the way this man dressed. Stylish, and... Cool.]
But yes, you have found me. Astralin Turnont, at your service.
[Kaeya hardly minds being given that curious once-over, but as stylish and cool as he looks, this flashy getup won't loan itself well to farming. Still, Kaeya is here to "help", isn't he? Here to get his hands dirty, but perhaps not in the way Astralin imagines.]
Kaeya. The pleasure is mine, Astralin.
[As for the farm itself, Kaeya parks his hands on his hips and glances around.]
Setting up a farm is quite the endeavor, isn't it? I'll help you as best I can, but first, would you mind showing me around?
[Astralin can't help but eye the stranger in front of him again, but only because something in particular comes to view. Directly staring at the vision that rests on Kaeya's hip, observing the strange symbol within the glass. Rather... Curious about it now, since the shine and symbol reminded him of ice. Was Kaeya an ice magician of sorts...? He would have to ask, that was certain.]
I do not mind showing you around. Come, and follow me.
[This isn't the first time that he's showed someone around the farm. He motions Kaeya near the garden first -- flowers in full bloom for him to see. Something about these flowers particularly off, though, with a bright light surrounding the flowers. Upon further inspection, if Kaeya chooses, he will notice that the flowers are infused with ice -- small particles of ice flakes surrounding the flowers.]
This is the flower bed. Some of these flowers have been in bloom for quite some time, and are ready to be picked. If you know anyone who is in need of any flowers, do let me know. These are... Special.
[Do you like his Vision, Astralin? When their eyes next meet, Kaeya flashes him a knowing smile, his curiosity piqued. Those with an affinity for magic thus far have managed to pick up on the fact that the item at his hip has magical properties of its own, coming as little surprise to Kaeya.
Following Astralin around the farm, those flowers do catch his attention, as does the light surrounding them. Ice crystals... Those would certainly explain Astralin's fascination with the Vision at his hip. Hunching down, Kaeya inspects them closely.]
Special, you say? I've certainly never seen flowers infused with Cryo magic such as these.
[Ice? Cryo? Same thing. Still... He doesn't see a Vision anywhere on Astralin's person, so Kaeya's willing to bet some other source of magic is at play here.]
[Oh, this man was certainly sharp. Usually his eyes would keep to themselves, but there was something particular about that piece of jewelry (?) that was special on it's own. It certainly has a story behind it, he's sure, but his eyes are back to meeting Kaeya's with a neutral look. The corner of his lip twitching into a faint smile as he watches Kaeya's vision turn to the flowers. A mutual distance kept between the two, but he does watch in silence as the other man notices the magic intertwined within the bed of flowers.]
Cyro? Is that what you call your ice magic?
[It's said with a curious tone, and he brushes back some of his hair.]
But yes, they are infused with my ice magic. I have powers that allow for perseveration by infusing ice energy into it. Thus, what you see here.
[His hand extends out, and at his fingertips, ice particles begin to form. It's only a small fraction of what he can do, but he doesn't mind showing off his magic. It doesn't seem like Kaeya here is dangerous in any way. At least, not in the way that he's thinking.]
I take it from the piece of jewelry you are carrying, you must hold some fraction of power.
[Ah, that certainly answers one question: this man may control the same element as himself, but he isn't from Teyvat. Astralin is quite astute regardless, and Kaeya meets his question with a smile and a nod, straightening up to gesture to the Vision hanging from his belt.]
You've guessed right! This is what we refer to as a Vision where I hail from. As you might have guessed, mine allows me to control the element of Cryo— ice, in other words. But while we share an element in common, I don't believe I can achieve what you've managed to do here.
[He's careful not to say what it is he's actually capable of doing with his Vision, but needless to say, their respective magics are versatile in their own unique ways.]
And I suppose you must have an innate talent for using magic, no? I don't see anything like a Vision on your person.
[If he had the confidence, he'd certainly go over there and look at the vision a bit closer. However, keeping a mutual distance between the two, and staring at it from slightly afar was enough. His eyes fixated on the vision as Kaeya begins to explain it. Needless to say, he was quite fascinated, as there weren't many people in his world who could control ice, or cyro in his words.]
I see. It is quite rare for me to meet those who can use, let alone control our element. You must be quite talented, Sir Kaeya.
[There was certainly something about him, honestly. But he can't quite put his finger on it, honestly.]
Ah, well. There are those who call me a prodigy due to my bloodline, but... My world is rather strange. Everyone in my world is born with magic. I suppose whether you are good with it or not depends on time, and your bloodline, but. You are not wrong about me. Very intuitive of you.
[Talented... Astralin's compliment is far too generous, but Kaeya isn't going to draw attention to the matter by disagreeing. His Vision is merely a "gift" from the gods, but a prodigy like Astralin has surely worked hard to gain such fine control over his magic. Much as he would love to see which of them would come out on top in battle, he'll keep that thought to himself for now.]
They do say practice makes perfect. Still, it surprises me to see you employing such skill in the field. Is botany a specialty of yours?
[Kaeya can think of plenty who would kill to have powers like Astralin's on the battlefield. Those who put their powers to use for purely non-lethal pursuits are few in number... but does Astralin count himself among them?]
I suppose you could say that. While I was born a farmer, one of my spouse's taught me techniques that I would have not learned myself. That... And I suppose you could say that I use my ice -- cyro in your words -- to create and preserve. So I suppose I might be a bit of a cheater.
[He is a fairly passive person it seems, but the scythe on his back might paint a different description of him. He's been in battle one too many times for his liking -- enough to apparently mark him for his charge. But, for the most part, Astralin himself is passive. However, if he had to, he could certainly defend himself.]
... Hm.
[To show a small fraction of his power, he does extend his hand out. A bright light quickly shining from his hand, that dissipates in seconds. A ice sculpture of Kaeya's vision quickly forming within his hand, pendant and all.]
It is not very impressive, but should you need anything made, then I would be more than happy to create it. Medium, to small creations.
[His scythe his made out of his ice, but he can't seem to conjure up the magical energy he needs for his larger creations, and that was fine.]
[...What remarkable skill. Even those skilled in the utilization of Cryo would struggle to replicate a person's visage in such exacting detail. Kaeya marvels at it, hands on his knees when he hunches down to examine it closely. No detail out of place, it seems, and his eyes shoot up to meet Astralin's with a broad grin.]
I'm afraid our definitions of impressive are entirely different. On the contrary, your talent is obvious at a glance. Very impressive, Astralin.
[Very impressive. On the mental list of notes he's maintained on the people of Aldrip, he places Astralin towards the top.]
I'll be keeping your offer in mind. I may not be of much assistance on the creative front, but should you ever find yourself in a bind on the battlefield, feel free to seek me out. Then again... that scythe of yours looks plenty imposing on its own.
Has anyone told you that you have quite the silver tongue, young man? Not that it is a bad thing.
[The compliments... Are quite flattering, really. Something he thought wouldn't be so special might actually be special, with the way Kaeya speaks. Quite honestly, Kaeya is reminding him of someone special back home, and there's a hint of a flattered smile that appears on the corner of his lips. Flattered, and homesick really, but he won't say anything about that second matter.]
Is that so? Are you a knight or sorts back home? Or perhaps a warrior?
[His eyes give Kaeya a once over, before trailing back to the scythe on his back.]
Ah, well. I am... But a simple farmer. However, I have seen much blood spilled, and I suppose you could say that I have spilt blood as well. Times of war back home have made it difficult to keep my hands clean of that, but... I do appreciate your offer. It puts my mind at ease, to know I can rely on someone in battle.
[Kaeya's chuckles are mirthful, jovial, but he should mind his silver tongue around a married man, shouldn't he? Then again, he'd rather trust that Astralin understands these compliments are coming from a good place and that Kaeya doesn't expect anything in return for stating what he believes is the honest truth. Sure, he might be inclined to embellish the truth just a bit... but regardless, he means well. Astralin has yet to give him a reason to lie.
...Well, he hadn't given Kaeya much reason to lie until now. His vocation has little importance in this land, but a man with eyes as sharp as Astralin's might easily see through him if he tells too outlandish of a story. Tipping his chin skyward, Kaeya hums.]
I know my way around a blade. Where I'm from, it never hurts to know how to defend yourself.
[That answers Astralin's question, doesn't it? Sure, Kaeya wasn't exactly forthright, but he's counting on Astralin not calling him out on answering so vaguely.]
You see... You claim to be a mere farmer, so in that sense, I suppose I'm merely a swordsman. I've seen my fair share of combat, but only out of necessity. We're quite the same in that regard, wouldn't you say?
It is not a bad thing. In fact, I must admit you remind me of my husband, Rivoix, so I find it rather amusing.
[It's said with a rather fond smile, and nothing more than that. If anything, if he knew Kaeya well enough, this is where he would get that fatherly head pat for the misunderstanding, but he doesn't know Kaeya well enough quite yet. However, given this meeting so far, and how he did extend his creationism services to him... He expects that he might be seeing Kaeya more often than not. Which! He didn't mind. He found the young man to be rather amusing.]
I am not surprised. You must have your own talents that are not to be slept on, I am sure.
[Kaeya's quite right on that, and he's not one to call out Kaeya for being so vague. It wasn't really his place to say anything, and he figures that Kaeya may reveal bits and pieces as time goes on. For now, he's content to just learn about the people who come here, at their own pace.]
Mmm... I would say so. I am sure there are similarities, but truly... I am not much. I may be a prodigy in magic, but I am a simple farmer who's family cut ties with nobility.
