He continues to lean back against his hands as a loud and fully amused laugh leaves him.]
Seriously? You spat on his shoes?? [He doesn't ask why, because it's Jerry. He's an asshole.] Surprised he didn't sentence you just for that.
no subject
Yeah, really did, but all he did was maddog me and then I got in and all? You think they are this petty though?
no subject
Totally. That's why he's going to stop thinking about it.]
Yeah, they're pretty fucking petty. [A small frown crosses Scott for the first time.] They give out bullshit sentences and everything to start with.
no subject
besides, he loves attention of any kind, and there's no other way scott's attention could go to right now.)
Still says 'murder' on my parchment, who knows, next? Destruction of fine leather.
no subject
And to think that Mikey kind of did all this for him... hosting this party or whatever. It really feels nice.]
Just saying, I wouldn't be surprised. What if they force you to buy Jerry new shoes?
no subject
they belong to manjiro, in the sense that their sadness, burdens and hardships are his own, too. he'll take everything, from smiles to punches. so, he's smiling right back.)
I'll just give him my boots. They're kid-sized, can you imagine him putting them on?
no subject
Oh man, I almost want to see that now. He'd frown and grunt and probably sentence my ass for laughing at him. [Mikey's boots would probably be ruined in the process, but worth it, probably. Man, Mikey really has an answer to everything, it feels like it at least.]
no subject
(it's just because he is stupid, but god, he is finding this absolutely hilarious, snorts and his gremlin giggles coming out of him before he hides his face against the leg, he's so freaking red.)
no subject
But then again, Scott curls over him as his own laughter continues, increasing until he's having difficulty breathing. Send help, please.]
M-Mikey, fuck man.
no subject
Oh, see, I should never drink!!!
no subject
No shit, who let you drink?
[He somehow manages, desperately trying to get air back in his lungs so that he can fucking breathe. Imagine that, passing out because he laughed too much. Fuck, he'd never live it down.]
no subject
You did.
no subject
Scott tries to protest, but of course, he can only make 'fish' noises to accompany the face he's currently making. Being forced to make, honestly!!]
Mik-mumph.
[He's really not protesting as hard as he could...]
no subject
(impossible? you're the one making him be cute? but he'll drop the hands, giggling and sitting back up.)
no subject
Scott probably doesn't help though with how he snorts, a smile still in place even as he rolls his eyes when Mikey pulls back and sits up.]
...Hey Mikey. [Maybe it's dumb to suddenly get emotional and shit, but... he's been wanting to say this for a while now, ever since he invited Scott over.] Thank you, for all this.
no subject
(which is rich, coming from manjiro, but you know. it's a role thing.)
no subject
...Being called as one of his people means so much too. There's a strange little warmth in his chest, one that isn't unfamiliar, but maybe something he really only feels around people that he really likes.]
You... you know you can rely on me too, okay?
[Because he doesn't know what else to say in the face of such kind honesty.]
no subject
(he does in his own terms - but like, he knows. he wouldn't ever accept what he is doing for scott if it were the other way around, he wouldn't ever let anyone think he's not okay enough. that said, he knows he can count on scott for everything else. that's enough and a lot coming from manjiro.)
Speaking of my people, you know who really should be here? My little sister. She'd be hitting us with a frying pan right about now, it's late already.
no subject
Look how happy Mikey is.]
Seriously? You'd let her boss you around? [He laughs lightly, egging Mikey on a little but not being mean spirited about it.] ...My older brother would probably agree though. Say something annoying like 'Scott, go to bed already, no one needs to hear you talk more.'
[He tries to deepen his voice just a little when mimicking Alex.]
no subject
(and she is so cute... he loves her SO much.
it's funny to hear about it, though. family is such an important thing in manjiro's heart that he can't help but giggle at the impersonation.)
How much older?
no subject
[Scott lightly jokes as he tries to imagine a younger girl version of Mikey. Honestly, not too hard to envision. But seriously, if she's related to Mikey, she's probably really badass and cool in her own way. She'd probably kick his ass still and Scott's fine with admitting that, only because she's Mikey's sibling.
He leans back on his hands again, face contemplative as he thinks about Alex.]
Alex? He's... 20 years older than me.
[A huge age gap, yeah. Alex is his older brother and everything, but often times, Scott feels like an only child. Or just... Alex feels more like a mentor figure than a brother he can easily tease and everything. It's sometimes weird, but it's just how it is.] He doesn't even live with me. I mean, he shouldn't, or else he'd be a huge loser.
[Who wants a 36 year old brother in their house!! Not Scott!! HUFF.]
no subject
(izana, what a complicated situation. last he found out, he's emma's half-brother, which makes him part of the family tree... and someone who had her hit with a baseball bat in the head. very confusing part of it all, and he barely processed it.
shinichiro knew. emma knew. mikey-- knew? it seems almost like he just never internalized the information.)
... Really? Shinichiro lived with us, and he's 10 years older than me. Why a loser? What he's like?
no subject
Just meant that older siblings should be out of the house at a certain age, find their own girlfriend and shit. We have our parents, so not like he needed to stick around for me.
[Even if Scott sometimes wanted Alex to stick around more, spend time with him. It's whatever. Alex has his own life and he has his. ...At least his brother still cared enough to bring him to Xavier's after his powers started up; his parents were completely useless in that regard. He's pretty sure that they're glad he's attending a boarding school now.]
He's 70% a loser. [Scott starts, almost snorting, but... something eases in the teen, a small smile replacing some of that angst that was creeping on him.] But he's a hero and everything. Has his life all figured out, probably going to do some cool things.
[He's the one that's going to amount to something, not Scott.]
no subject
(and the cultural differences show once again! it's funny, isn't it? manjiro always finds it amusing when these things happen, like a little reminder that they're from different places, different worlds, and it actually makes him smile a little bit.)
A hero? Motherfucker, you could be a superhero. You shoot lasers from your eyes and shit, ain't that incredible by itself? What's that 40% about?
(#math genius)

[Scott responds, one shoulder lifting in a casual shrug. Culture differences and everything... Scott can respect that. Maybe Alex would've stayed longer if they lived in Japan-- okay, that's going way too much in 'what if' territory. The reality is he lived in Ohio and his brother was off somewhere else and making a difference, until he came to bring him to Xavier's.
And geez, Mikey has to go and say something like that. He knows his friend is drunk, but he also knows that he's completely sincere in his comment as well and that thought makes Scott warm. Maybe he shouldn't make a big deal out of it, because it's not like he did anything to get eye lasers, but it still means a whole lot because Mikey believes in him.
Scott doesn't know what to say at first, suddenly overcome with stupid feelings, but then the other part of Mikey's sentence fully registers in his mind and--]
40 percent?? [He laughs, because dude.] It's 30% percent, man. This is like simple math Mikey.
