1. The Ascian will see you now
Having returned from the desert, it's business as usual at the clinic. Emet-Selch doesn't really like working but he did make a deal with that young woman to put in the time here. Besides, the pay is going towards the weapon he is commissioning from a local blacksmith - one eager enough for the challenge of an unfamiliar weapon and understanding enough to accept payment in installations.2. Tindr? More like Findr
So the Ascian puts aside his ennui and dons the more agreeable veneer of Solus zos Galvus as he attends to those still recovering from the hurts of the past two months. Being one of the Chosen, he's usually also first to be called on to look at other Chosen who walk in.
a) Greeting walk-in patients:
The smile on his face almost resembles a smirk as he walks up to you. "And what trouble have you gotten yourself into, hmm?"
b) Interrupting him whilst he's busy:
He glances up, from whatever or whoever he's working on with a frown. "Do you need something?" he asks, tempering his impatience with effort.
After putting out a request for help and cobbling together some semblance of a working device, Emet-Selch can be found trying to access some of its other features - to not so very great success. Having noticed that it seems to randomly react to something, he takes the thing outside and tries to locate the source.3. Friends Forevermor-bol
Which is how he comes across someone else with another device.
Emet-Selch looks at you, looks at the device in his hands. Frowns.
"Why is this reacting to you?" he asks irritably.
Further afield, outside of town - or even perhaps closer to the forest's edge - Emet-Selch has come across a familiar creature.4. Wildcard
Or perhaps, rather, it finds him.
The creature in question is a towering mass of thick, vine-like tentacles and a gaping, putrid maw. Like an upright land octopus that is at least as tall as a man. Emet-Selch, surprised to come across something from his homestar, is too stunned to move before the seedkin notices him and starts to undulate over.
"No," he says emphatically, jabbing a finger at it. "Stay."
As if this creature can be trained like a dog. He remembers that gift sent by one of the provinces and how it terrorised the imperial gardens before somehow escaping out into the snowy tundra. Morbols and their ilk simply do as they please.
--and this one attempts to reach out and grab him.
He vanishes into a rift, materialising a distance away. But the morbol advances relentlessly, vines reaching for him.
"Of all the creatures to make their way here from our star, why this one?!"
For closed threads or custom scenarios etc., feel free to hit me up on the CR meme to plot.

In fact, she's been dragged to the infirmary and forced to stay in a bed until her injury heals. So there she is, unable to sit still, huffing and sighing in boredom.
She could be doing anything else! She could be helping build new housing or exploring the area or gathering supplies! But no, she's stuck here being bored out of her mind.
Emet-Selch is sure to feel her gaze boring into the back of his skull at some point even if she doesn't directly address him.

"What?" he asks. "Is the Warrior of Light dissatisfied with her care?"

They both know that the long term patients don't need more than a check-up.
"You're lucky I spent time with the chirurgeons of Garlemald. Their medical knowledge is unparalleled."

"Of course it could not possibly hold a candle to our greatest healers. Why, if one of them were here, I'm sure they could diagnose your ailment in a heartbeat and offer a solution."
He takes a seat on the edge of her bed and pats the approximate lump where her knee should be under the blankets. "Alas, you shall have to make do with my meagre skills."
no subject
"But only the greatest healers, I take it?" Not that she's saying Elidibus and Erichthonios are lacking in that department, they know a great deal more than her. But if they couldn't heal her then could 'greatest healers' of their age?
Her tail thumps against the bed in response to the touch. "It could be worse, I could be the one doing the healing."

she thinks she might actually... be getting somewhere?
but then she looks up and sees that guy, and she frowns a little before she tosses her head and puts a smirk on her face intead.]
I dunno, maybe it's attracted to my charm. You worried about it?

Emet-Selch rolls his eyes and gives the tablet a little shake. ]
I was hoping it was finally working. It seems all it was doing is detecting its kin.
[ And it seems to be beeping a bit faster during the brief moment it's closer to the other tablet. He tries holding it out to confirm. ]
...Why does it only function near another device?
no subject
[she holds the tablet out a little bit, and then suddenly... they stop. huffing, she looks back down at the tablet and taps around on it.]
Oh hey, it's letting me get into the texting function.
[and then suddenly his tablet may or may not be getting:]
is this thing on
no subject
...A peer to peer communicator? Does that not defeat the whole purpose of the convenience of a portable device?
[ His tone is scornful. Heaving a sigh, he tries to tap other areas of the screen. It seems there are...games? Even worse: they're co-op. ]

[she taps at the NOTEPAD app...
...
nothing. an error message pops up.]
You don't happen to know anybody who can deal with this shit, do you?
no subject
[ The jargon is unfamiliar but the interface echoes that which the Allagans once used. He navigates the screen stiffly with his finger. ]
...Something like this ought to have a setting somewhere which allows the user to make their own inputs but I cannot seem to find it.

1/4 combo
Elidibus does not initially approach Emet-Selch. Instead, he follows him down the hallway, only addressing him when they're out of earshot of Yuja, assuming she's in her room like she's supposed to be.]
Emet-Selch. Is she well?
[Pause.]
...Are you?
no subject
She's fine.
[ --is his terse, interim reply. Emet-Selch still has work to do in the clinic but he heads outside instead for some fresh air, rounding the corner of the building so that they can have some semblance of privacy for their inevitable talk.
At that point he finally pivots around to face Elidibus, fists clenched by his side, posture stiff. ]
What would you like me to say, Elidibus? I have just learnt of my supposed fate from her and she did not have the air of a liar. Despite that, I am keeping to my promise not to harm her. Is my current forbearance not enough?
no subject
Even so, I worry for your well-being.
[To him, living won't be any more than survival until Amaurot is restored. To say the temptation to join hands with him once again and try anew wasn't tempting would be a lie, but he values his friendships more, even those made across time. It has always been his way, and he cannot bear to forsake one over the other. It'd be like deciding one has more of a right to live than the other -- something he was so sure of before, but can't possibly be now.]
I always have. Even when true concern beside the scope of my duty was beyond me. Isn't it you who always delighted in calling me a worrier?
[If Emet-Selch dies, he ensures Elidibus's death in turn, and unknowingly brings things full circle for all of them. It seems like a cruel status quo to try and preserve, especially if that is akin to what Hydaelyn had done all along, but...]
To you, it must seem a betrayal. I know that. But I am simply trying to mediate as best I can.
no subject
Mediate? What is there to mediate? The conflict is over as far as all the rest of you are concerned. All you have to do is keep me from causing trouble and Hydaelyn will have her victory...and the star. But as you are of the 'future', none of you can stop me from acting differently to ensure our victory once I find a way out of this prison.
[ He crosses his arms and looks aside, staring at some point on the ground. ]
Do you have any idea how heavy the burden of duty lay upon my shoulders? To be the only one yet in possession of all his faculties, watching one man's mind unravel and another's memories fade away? To watch the shards of our brethren grow more and more unlike themselves with each ascension until, it seems, our very own Fandaniel decided he preferred death and took it upon himself to destroy the star and all life upon it?
[ A scoff. ]
You would render our labour of some ten thousand years meaningless.
no subject
[He really shouldn't test his luck, but he has to be certain. Why has Emet-Selch not gone after Yuja? He just had ample opportunity to kill her if he so chose, and yet here he is, treating her wounds instead. Elidibus keeps his composure despite the flurry of appeals to his guilt, hands still at his sides.]
When Zodiark could not speak for Himself, we had to interpret His will as best we could instead. You and Lahabrea both deferred to me when it came to that. Could it be that you still do?
Recall, then, what I told you earlier: your death assures mine. But what if I told you our deaths also assure Hydaelyn's?
no subject
[ He warily eyes their Emissary. Emet-Selch has no answer as to why he doesn't simply murder Yuja out of hand. He has every reason to do so. And so, as has been his wont lately when faced with difficult questions he cannot answer, he chooses to ignore it entirely. ]

Jinx had told him that there was a clinic here, and while it was a long shot, he did need a doctor of sorts. The last one that he had on his employ and provided as much unethical means to do as was necessary, Singed had not yet made the journey to this place. So, he was in need of a replacement for the time being.
He walked in to the clinic in question and made a noise at the greeting. "I'm inquiring about potential future services of someone who values progress." Through any means necessary, goes unspoken, but anyone keen enough would pick it up.
no subject
"In case you haven't realised, this is an infirmary. A chirurgeon's clinic. Unless you seek to advance the progress of medicine or bedside care, I'm not sure how the staff here can help you," he replies dryly.
It wasn't an outright rejection. Emet-Selch's gaze remained level with the other man's, waiting to see how they would react.
no subject
"My ailment requires the production of a medicinal from my world. I have a limited supply, but I haven't the expertise to reproduce it currently."
He regarded the other man while still keeping the mutilated side of his face pointed in that direction. "But perhaps doctors here are currently hamstringed by the same rudimentary healing techniques of our ancestors. A shame."
no subject
He gestures to one of the consultation rooms. Something in the man's bearing reminds him of the carefully crafted persona of Solus. He'll entertain whatever their request is. Mayhap he'll even be able to help. Either way, it'll surely be more interesting than simply making his rounds of the patients.
"I presume you at least have a sample of whatever it is you wish to replicate."
no subject
He walked to the consultation room that had been gestured to, looking around before turning to face the intake doctor. It was a shame that Singed hadn't made it here yet, but perhaps a profitable arrangement could be cultivated here at some point.
He reached into the hidden left breast pocket and produced a small ampule of glowing shimmery purple liquid. It was only about half a milliliter, nothing he didn't consider worth losing if he could potentially get his hands on a synthetic version.
"This is medicinal Shimmer from my city. So far, it has prevented half of my face melting off, so I would appreciate recommendations on that front."
no subject
There was just the slightest tone of surprise from him. He had never heard of an ingested solution which could halt the effect of what, to him, looked like acid burns. He took the proffered vial and held up to the light from the window. Although the quantity was minuscule, it had a fascinating pink glow.
He wished that his Sight could assess it as it could anything from his star. Unfortunately, this liquid defied his scrutiny.
"Can you tell me anything about the plant this derives from or any of the specific properties of this medicine?"
