At the dawn on January 5th the tents for the training grounds raise up again. However, unlike the last time the training camp does not take place in the empty fields of the outskirts but instead they are set on the property of X-Mansion. Courtesy of X-men, who have agreed to let their home to be utilized for common good.

Each tent marks a post for a different activity while ome of them work as a simplified armories. There are sets of blades (from knives to long swords), axes, armors, firearms, bows and arrows and what have you. Feel free to pick your poison, so to speak! However, Richard keeps a keen list on who borrows and what, marking down immediately if something goes missing. So! be sure to return what you take unless you want him to come after you. And just like the always, the chosen are more than welcomed to use their own weapons.

And if the Chosen gets tired of running around in the cold and snow they can go and grab lunch at the mansion's kitchen/dining area! This time it is provided by the inn which, yes, means there's different kind of poultry dishes are being served. As for the dessert there is hot chocolate with whipped cream and marshmallows available for the chosen.

For those who seek out more challenge and advanced training methods they are given access to Danger Room, a holographic combat simulator tucked deep down in one of the basements. In case someone needs help with setting up a perfect training scenario for their needs Morph is there to answer any questions.

[Narratively convenient...? Huh. That's an interesting way of putting it.]

When I first arrived, I didn't have my gun either. I had to get a blacksmith to make one from designs I drew. Aldrip wasn't so... technologically advanced, as it is now. It was a challenge. Thankfully mine appeared one day, so perhaps yours will too? Things from home like to pop up, when we least expect them.

I have been training, just with my rifle.

[But she laughs all the same. Vi sees right through her, because of course she does. Caitlyn likes the view. Her smiles disappear after a second though, her singular blue eye shifting to the punching bags.]

My balance is still off. Maybe I should wait a little longer--

[Vi, make your girlfriend train. It was easy, picking up her rifle again. As if she could go long without that. Caitlyn is way too stubborn to be still for very long. But hand to hand? She doesn't like to say she's traumatized, but...it brings back memories. Of sparring with Ambessa, of having to fight for her life, of almost losing everything--]

Fine, fine. So then, what am I supposed to do to help around here?

Oh yeah, I'm supposed to try to get a free sandwich from him.

But I didn't get spirited away to another world just to make sandwiches. I should learn something new.

[ Gwen is able to quickly move her blade to block the upward swing, already feeling an increase in the control she has over the weapon thanks to the instruction she's received. Turns out that coming to this training meetup wasn't a waste of time after all.

She parries with one hand, then spins and swings the other in for an attack. ]

[ Oho, now that has Gwen's attention. ]

What do you mean? They just, like... show up one day in the simulation?

[ Gwen knows a thing or two about people crossing over between universes. Objects doing it on their own, though, is a little different. ]

[Vi's seen enough magic and wild abilities to believe Clark when he says to stand back. even though he kind of looked like a dweeb... he's still muscular, and who knows what he can do.

she backs up a couple of steps, and then waits semi-patiently.]

Okay, then show off. You know you want to.

[Vi rolls her eyes and waves for her to come forward.]

Your balance is never going to get better if you don't practice. Come here.

[at least her form of fighting is different from Ambessa's. Ambessa relied more on weapons than Vi does -- Vi operates on pure power.]

We'll start back with your form before anything else. 'Kay?

[a demon, huh. probably the first time she's met one, but not the weirdest person she's ever met. she's come a long way since being surprised at these sorts of things.

she purses her lips.]

Sometimes this place fucks with us. Takes abilities, or gives them. I don't have any for myself outside of this, but I still think it's important to know how to fight as if to assume you don't have it.

That was you? Shit, I wanted t'thank you for the present too.

[ even if she. isn't sure about using them just yet. hasn't had to! more importantly, she wasn't entirely sure of what kind of person "Vi" would be. her own preconceived notions of a fighter swarmed her head, but this woman-- something like one of lum's friends. ]

An... yeah. I didn't know how hard I should hit it, it's a dummy.

Good. In that case, I wanted t'ask if you wanted t'be a sparring partner for a bit. I ain't that good at trainin' alone.

[ she's always had her dad around, doing stupid shit and calling it training. she already got a good glimpse of things around here, so being able to see how others train might be cool? ]

[Her subtle way of marking that she doesn't believe a word of that. Her eyes follow as he slips the cigarette into his jacket pocket — what was that thing? — though luckily she's temporarily distracted from becoming an example used in a Truth™ campaign by the weapon.

A2 walks around the massive cross slowly, nudging the base with a toe.] This is some sort of gun? ... How the hell do you use this? You can't snipe with it.

[Gunner is not her specialty, but she'd worked with one before. Even for an android, this would be an unwieldy and clunky piece of equipment.] How does it work?

Yes. It took the darkness flame from me, somehow. [ And he's still annoyed about it. He'd almost given his right arm and then his life to harness that power, and now it was gone - even if he still had the mark of the dragon on his body, still bound under bandages that he does more out of routine than actual need.

Creatures of habit don't give them up as easily as appearing in some simulation.. or something. ]

My form? [ Forgive him if he sounds amused, it's only partially because he's a little asshole amused at the thought he may need to be taught or corrected on anything. ]

I will have to slow down to a snail's pace to show you.

[Just outright admitting he's skimmed over network chatter about recent injures would be... potentially rude at best—but even if he wasn't aware, her apparent perfectionist lean would imply an injury rather than some other voluntary hiatus to him. But that would just be an assumption, equally rude.

He tilts his head slightly.]

It doesn't seem your awareness of your skills has dulled. How long ago was this "past," exactly?

[ she wants to impress Vi, though she's never actually going to say it, so as dumb as hitting some dummies might sound...

Ellie squares up to the dummy. ]

Sorry buddy, gotta do what the lady says.

[ true to her word, she's carefully worked on everything Vi's corrected her on. ]

Well, okay...

[Clark turns to face one of the dummies. Normally he tries to hold back his strength, especially against people who aren't on the same level of power he is, but Vi is clearly expecting him to show the full extent of what he can do.

So he punches the dummy in the face. And the dummy's head immediately flies off.]

[A2 counters by creating distance, elegantly backflipping and landing, cat-like, on her feet. Cat-like save the grooves her descent leave behind and the weight to her landing.

She straightens up slowly.] Not bad. [...] I see the improvement.

Darkness flame?

[even though powers are beyond her, she's still kind of curious whenever they come up. maybe it's because it's just because she doesn't mind learning about other people's worlds...

she nods at his question.]

Yeah, so? That's good for practice sometimes, too.

[grappler]

[Vi nods in appreciation as Ellie shows off her work. she circles her as she fights, and grins a bit.]

Finally, someone who'll listen to me.

You're doing a lot better. Keeping up with the exercises I gave you, too? That'll help with strength.

[....... she watches the dummy's head go flying. she whistles in appreciation, and then looks back at Clark.]

Okay, cool. So you got some brute force on you. Is that a power thing, or are you just super strong?

[ Gwen's eyes widen with delight behind her mask when her instructor leaps gracefully out of the way. ]

Ohhhhkay. You didn't say this was acrobatics training, too.

[ But two can play that game. With a Cheshire cat-like grin, Gwen also leaps, flipping over the android and spinning in midair to swipe at her with one of her swords. ]

Yep. I'm gonna get ripped.

[ she gives the dummy a cheeky little kick. ]

It's been helping at my job too. Throwing drunk dudes out of a building is shockingly easy.

[While far more subdued in her own reactions, A2's eyebrows hike up when Gwen leaps over her. Parrying the swipe, her return swing goes low and wide.]

Not really. But it's good to be prepared for changes in enemy tactics.

[Though this is far less deadly or high stakes than even her basic training, the familiarity of sparring is comfortable. A battle for show, for fun... it had been so long that she almost doesn't remember it.]
