TWAT Club mingle
Who: Scott Summers and members of TWAT (Teenagers With Abilities and Talents) Club. Or any teenager (or if you look like one) that just stops by really.
Where: Roof of the club building
What: Teenagers with abilities or maybe no real abilities hanging out on the rooftop and eating food. Talking. Doing club stuff.
Warnings: Probably none.
[Maybe you're already part of TWAT club and read the message that Scott sent out to everyone, basically stating that they're having a meeting and it's definitely required for you to come and hang out and meet new members. Or you saw one of the flyers around town that mentioned about having a meeting and that newbies are welcome to stop by. Either way, the meeting is held at the rooftop of the club building, so just come. No food or anything required. He's a good leader like that, yeah. Definitely.]
before the meeting;
[Why do you keep coming early!!
Well, anyone that is one of those people that likes coming early to events, Scott's putting you to work. Yep, immediately volunteered. Maybe it's just helping to get the food out on the tables, or bringing chairs or tables up to the rooftop. Either way, work needs to be done and setup is still in progress, so pair up with other TWAT members or whatever to get things ready. Thanks, Scott appreciates it. Probably. At this point, he might be relying on people to show up early to help...
Also, if you have your own food or brought a game of some sort, that's cool. He definitely isn't going to say no. Go set that up.]
just hanging out;
[Once the meeting starts and after Scott gives a relatively decent speech about welcoming new people to TWAT Club and to have fun, people are more than welcome to dig into the spread laid out on the tables. There's the usual fanfare like chips and dip, cookies, and pizza, but there's also fruit sandwiches that Scott and Kotone made together. There's a vegetable plate as well, but with an added note that says 'for you healthy nerds,' although that note mysteriously disappears after a while (with Kotone shoving a carrot stick in Scott's mouth).
Since this is a place filled with teenagers and abilities... Scott probably has encouraged people to show off their powers a little. JUST DON'T BLOW SOMETHING UP it's okay, he's talking about himself too. Of course, he's not forcing anyone to show off their powers and everything, but he sort of hopes people are feeling more comfortable to do so. That is the purpose of his club and everything, along with an underlying encouragement to help others with their powers if applicable.
There's also music being played! Thanks to Kotone's MP3 player, a mix of electronica and J-Pop from the mid-to-late 2000s is playing from a stereo, so hopefully that's your jam. It will be your jam, because those are the only songs playing. You're welcome to dance as well, Scott definitely is... in his own way:

He's having fun, especially since Kotone is right with him and copying his movements. No one can feel embarrassed now. Come and join--]
after club;
[Feel like being a nice person and want to help clean up? Nice. Scott isn't forcing anyone to stay after, but he appreciates the assistance (and maybe even expects it at this point). It's mostly just taking tables down and clearing out the trash. Anyone that stays can probably take home some of the leftovers. So, that's a nice bonus.
Or maybe you just want to sit on the ground and enjoy the evening a little. He's not judging. There's a nice little sunset settling in and you have the rooftop to enjoy it. Grab one of your new found friends and watch it together.]
[ooc: TWAT mingle log! Please feel free to post your own top levels and tag each other. :> If your character would bring food or set something up, go right ahead. The more the better, right? Also your character doesn't need to be part of TWAT to join, Scott will just sort of let any teenager in. 'Teenager' being anyone that doesn't look too much like an oldie--]

She taps the button on the device on her wrist. "Fox Finisher!" it calls out in a mechanized voice. And then...
The area around them goes dark. In a decent radius around her... somehow, night has fallen. The full moon shines overhead, as Fauna is silhouetted in the shadows. Most visible, of course, is the glowing red eyes.... But even so, her body is still visible.
In this state, she poses. Or maybe, more accurately, she takes a stance. She clenches her arms beside her, then sweeps both arms in front of her. She moves slowly, letting Scott... hopefully see her movements. Energy flows from the device on her left wrist, into her right fist, leaving her entire forearm and fist glowing bright red...
She kicks out- Hooks a foot under the chair, kicking it up into the air. Then, as it falls, she twists her body, and slams a fist into a mighty, massive uppercut. The chair goes flying up into the air, framed against the full moon.... and then, as Night Wild turns her back to it, and shakes her fist out, the chair abruptly explodes. Violently. Massively.
... Unfortunately, a few seconds after that, she immediately detransforms, and continues shaking her wrist out.]
Tch... Still too flimsy after all.
no subject
It certainly feels a little less silly and more like she's channeling her energy through her actions, everything feeling just a little more purposeful and direct. It's like she's leading everyone to one big attack, which, she is. He's able to catch most of her movements, the way her arm starts to glow, and then suddenly the chair's kicked into the air. It really stood no chance, huh? Through her fist alone, it explodes into pieces and Scott claps, seemingly enjoying the show in front of him.]
Sorry, didn't catch that, can you do that again? [He jokes, before waving a hand as if to tell her that he's not serious.] Okay, that was pretty cool.
no subject
It's not a finisher if you can just whip them out whenever you want.
[THEY'RE FINISHERS FOR A REASON]
Damn right it was, though. I couldn't get everything into the chair, though, it was too flimsy... But, still. You get the gist, right?
no subject
[His voice still carries that joking tone, but he was definitely keeping watch. Partly because he said he would and partly because it was a really cool thing to witness. Why would anyone want to look away? The sky changed, her eyes were glowing, and a chair exploded, that's a pretty satisfactory thing to happen.
Although, there's one thing on his mind...]
So, what happens if someone tries to attack or interrupt you while you're channeling your energy and everything? Does it just stop working?
no subject
[She shrugs.]
You can't just throw them out whenever you want. You have to wait for the right moment.
[of course, people can't interrupt the stock footage, but that's beside the point.]
no subject
[Guess it doesn't matter if you have a big finishing move or not, that sort of thing applies to everyone, huh? He's been learning a lot from others, not just the X-Men, about training and fighting since he arrived here. He's gotten better, but it's always a little more difficult when he can't control his powers in general.
Which, right. They started doing all this because she recommended doing poses.]
The power I have only emits from one place... [He awkwardly tries to extend a hand out, as if he's about to shoot something from there, but of course, nothing happens.] I can't really channel it elsewhere.
no subject
[If it's being emitted out there, the obvious place to start is stop it emitting to try to move it elsewhere. Right?]
no subject
[The brightness behind his shades dim as Scott closes his eyes, but he keeps his hand out. Still, nothing happens, and after a few seconds, he starts wiggling his hand as if trying to get something to shoot from it. Nope, no dice.]
I still feel them from behind my eyelids. They're a constant presence in my head, like a reminder.
[That constant feeling has only gone away a couple of times, when Dazai depleted his powers or when Dara put some sort of seal on him. They're both gone though (at least to his knowledge), and thus he's just stuck with that reminder of how different and destructive he can be if he didn't have his glasses.]
no subject
You can feel it...
Can you control it at all? Move them after you shoot it? If it's a presence, can you impose your will on it?
no subject
No, I can't really control them. I mean, I've sort of been practicing on trying to focus on a specific point or forcing more power to expel from my eyes, but the only way I can move them after I shoot is if I turn my head.
[He knows that he's supposed to have a visor at some point. All the other Scotts wear it from what he knows, but he hasn't gotten there yet. No one's been able to build something like that either. It would really make things easier.
Scott starts to lower his hand, seeing that it's not doing anything.]
no subject
Fauna is, of course, really easy to read. Her ears twitch, then stand straight up at Scott's words, seizing right on the important part.]
You can force out more power? That's the perfect place to start!
no subject
[His eyes reopen as he looks back at her, noting how she kind of seems excited about this.]
Like, I really have to force my eyes open and..... just let myself go all out.
[Really let himself get angry and upset. It often works when he's just forced into a corner with no other options available to him. It feels a little more awkward when he's feeling calm and everything, but Fauna looks pretty interested in this line of thought. Maybe he can do it still.] No holding back at all.
no subject
[She's not confident, but it's a starting point.]
So... Making your beams adjustable should be our starting point. If you make them stronger at will, then you'll be able to make them weaker, and eventually shut them off. And if you can shut them off, that should be the step towards moving them around.
no subject
[He's not fully dismissing her idea, it's just that he tried to do that in the past without much success. He didn't want to just sit around and completely give up on trying to control his powers, but he never fully figured out how to really weaken them, let alone make them stop completely. They just expel from his eyes-- they constantly are even now.]
If I'm letting myself go all out to make them stronger, how do I make myself do the opposite? I'm like totally cool and calm otherwise.
[Yeah he said that with a straight face.]
no subject
[That's a good question, actually. She doesn't know. She just assumed 'do the opposite', but...]
Maybe, if opening your eyes wider makes them more powerful, opening your eyes less makes them weaker...? That doesn't feel right for what we're doing, though.
no subject
[But maybe if he keeps on trying, he can do something about that? Scott holds back a sigh, feeling just a little more despondent about all this. He's mostly been accepting of his powers and his lack of control, but deeper discussions like this tends to make him a little more moody.]
I can keep trying though.
no subject
[... That said, her hand goes to her pocket, as she's turning something over inside it... But she can't offer that. It wouldn't really help anyone.]
And if you can't do it, then figuring out something else will work too.
What's important is that you figure out how to look cool doing it.
no subject
Heh, once I figure out how to really control my powers, I'll work on a few poses. It won't help if I thought of them now and they ended up getting in the way of everything.
no subject
... Wait, that's a really good point, actually. They'd do the opposite of what you want them for, then.
no subject
[There's the return of a small smile on Scott, confidence returning before he nods at Fauna.] So, control first. And then maybe I'll personally come to you to learn poses.
[If it happens, but if nothing else, he knows that 'visor' will allow him to control the power of his optic blasts. It's just a matter of getting one. Does he really want to do weird poses though? Whatever, it's fine.]
