Who: Astralin and you! Where: Meadowlands, on his new farm. What: Astralin needs help setting up his new farm, anyone is welcome to help out. Warnings: None.
Prompts below! If you want to mingle, feel free to make your own prompts.
[He had been working on transferring some wood over to the house when he spots Vi from afar. Immediately feeling pretty bad that she's been dragged out here, and probably against her will. Which. He makes a note on, to ensure that Vi will get paid properly, or at least given a nice meal.]
That is correct. I owned a large farm back home, so I suppose I felt nostalgic and restless, and felt the need to make another one here.
[An acre of land was totally fine, but he does nod again.]
I do apologize if you were taken against your will, but I will ensure that you are paid, or at least given a nice meal. Have you ever built anything?
I would be more than happy to work with you since you are new. Although, to be quite honest, I am not very good at building myself... But as you said, I am sure it is not that difficult.
[Luckily, he's wearing a modest shirt today that unfortunately shows off his bruised, and tattered arms from a bad incident. Of course, he isn't too bothered by it today, since he was more busy trying to get this farm put together.]
Come now. Let us help the construction workers with the barn first. My livestock will be arriving soon, so I believe the barn would be a good start.
[Once Astralin begins to walk toward that area, Vi will immediately see the construction workers begin to surround them and motion them toward the doors that they're trying to put up. It seems as if they need a bit more muscle, which Astralin is happy to provide.]
I take it that you are good with heavy lifting, no?
[He could tell by her build that she could literally pack a punch or two.]
[Vi nods as she follows him, taking it all in. it's kind of weird to see that people are starting to settle in here, when she didn't know if they were even going to stay here long at all.
but after a couple of months, she figures some people would want to get some sort of normalcy going.]
Can't be any worse than bigass metal gauntlets.
[they were pretty damn heavy, even if the nerds had probably put in some sort of shit to make them a little lighter. but she's not going to complain, and she's going to walk over to one of the doors and starts to adjust them to the way that the construction workers needed.]
[He blinks and then what is almost a bit hilarious, especially coming out of his usual, formal mouth?]
Big ass gauntlets...?
[Well now he's curious. He follows right behind her, and goes to the opposite side of Vi so that they can easily get these doors to the barn adjusted. Not at all surprised by the fact that she can adjust these heavy doors. He is very impressed, however, and mentally notes Vi's name in the back of his head for future reference.]
Good! Now just keep those doors steady while we nail it in!
[One of the construction workers are quick to add the nails to the door to fully cement it in. Both Vi and Astralin's strength making the construction workers job much easier. Enough to where the construction worker shouts that Vi should come and work for them sometime.]
[Vi can't help but give them a grin as they shout at her. not that she's used to honest work, but she doesn't mind having her ego stroked every now and then.
she shrugs at him, still looking like she might be preening over the compliments internally.]
Not like I had much else to do but keep my strength up when I was in jail back at home. I'm not gonna lose it now.
[not to mention that she was always kind of naturally strong, but yanno.]
He's not bothered by the fact that she might be a criminal. Even if she was, he wouldn't care, as long as she actively wasn't hurting anyone, but. He has a feeling that her incarceration has quite the story behind it. Of course, he wasn't one to pry, but he can't help but worry for her and what it might have done with her mental, even though Vi seems physically and mentally strong.]
Is that where you learned how to use those gauntlets you mentioned before? I must say, I envy those who can fist fight. I am a magic user myself, but working on the farm helps with strength I must say.
[Hmm. There's definitely some history here, but he wasn't one to pry. He doesn't want to be nosy either, since there seems to be some hesitation there, but he doesn't mention it. Instead, he simply says what any Dad would say, and he merely rolls his shoulders to help latch the door onto the hinges.]
I see. I am sure he would be very proud of you; it seems as if you are doing well here at least.
[It's the small victories, even if construction work doesn't seem like a lot. Still, it's honest work.]
I see. I do not mean to pry, but I am assuming that the environment back home is not good?
[Just throwing it out there, since his world has gone to shit, too. Misery loves company and all.]
[she's quiet for a moment, hating how the fact that thinking of Vander always makes her eyes sting. would he be proud of her? she hopes he would, even though she doesn't always think he would be.
she let so much go to hell, after all.
she rubs her nose with the back of her arm, and doesn't comment on his first set of comments. instead, she shakes her head, acting Unbothered about it all. even though it's Vi, and she's pretty bothered by everything all the time.]
"Not good" is probably the understatement of the century. "Gone completely to shit" is probably a much better way of saying it.
[at least that she won't get all emotional saying.]
[Had he known her any better, she would have gotten a headpat here, but he doesn't know her all too well, and instead, he just tries to give a comforting smile. He doesn't know what she's going through, or what even happened back in her world, but it was at least a comforting gesture. So painfully like a father at times, he couldn't help but try and comfort people. Still though, he makes no comment on it, and simple curves his lips into a soft frown.]
I see... I must admit, my world has ah, as you put it... "Gone completely to shit" as well. I take it that it must be different circumstances there, but I completely understand.
[Vi has made him say some funny shit the past 20 minutes they've been working together, and it's honestly funny coming from him. Still, he want to keep their conversation light, and if him being a boomer and saying stupid shit like that will get anything out of them, then he's content.]
[okay. it was kind of funny to see someone that was obviously not used to saying "gone completely to shit" say so. Vi gives him a crooked smile, letting the mood lighten a bit because she's taking it for what it was.
she nods though, and walks to the other door.]
Probably seems like a vacation here then, with a farm and everything. At least, until shit hits the fan here too.
[aaand she'll start picking it up when he's ready.]
[Good. Even if he's a bit emotionally stunted at times, he can certainly tell when the mood needs to be lightened up. He's glad that the air seems less tense, and he focuses back on making sure this door gets properly put on. The construction worker immediately counting down, before signaling to lift, which Astralin lifts up with ease with Vi's help.]
Mm... Yes, I would say so. I do have a farm back home, but it is hard to maintain when there is an assassin or two appearing on the lands in an attempt to kill you. So... I suppose it is a bit of a vacation.
[He does miss his spouses, but he doesn't have to watch his back every second. Not that this place isn't suspicious -- it is, but, for now, it's alright.]

Was bored anyway. And no, I haven't really built anything before, but I'm sure it's not hard.
[she can understand him being restless, at least, but she doesn't know if she'd really want much from home. as far as things go, anyway.]
Money and food's always nice though, so I'm not gonna complain.

[she trails off for a moment, thinking of Vander. it always brings an ache to her heart to think about him, and right now, a knot in her throat.]
Someone taught me how to use it when I was growing up. I just wanted to follow in his footsteps.
[at the mention of magic though, she tilts her head.]
Y'know, I don't think there's a whole lot of magic back at home. If there is, I don't really see it.

[said as if that it's just a normal thing to talk about! even if she does sound moderately amused while the door gets put up.]
I'm hanging in there. A little bored, but what can ya do? At least it's not really bad.
