Who: Astralin and you! Where: Meadowlands, on his new farm. What: Astralin needs help setting up his new farm, anyone is welcome to help out. Warnings: None.
Prompts below! If you want to mingle, feel free to make your own prompts.
[Her voice gets him to look up from replanting his flowers, and he nearly jumps out of his skin upon seeing the new stranger in his garden. However, seeing that she has a horse is enough to put his mind at ease. A soft sigh of relief escaping from him rather silently as he straightens himself out in front of the stranger, and curves his lips into a pleasant, but light smile.]
Good day, Miss. It is no trouble at all... Here.
[He wasn't upset about the flowers. In fact, he had a soft spot for animals, and now had some of his own here. So, without hesitating, he reaches for his pocket, and offers up a large carrot to the horse. His other hand reaching out toward it's mane, and running his fingers through it in a calming, soft motion.]
Here you are, my dear. It is much more appetizing than a flower.
[ Willow sniffs at the carrot, then snorts in delight and helps herself to the snack greedily. Marianne's relieved to see the horse looking energetic, though it worries her that Willow may munch on his fingers if she doesn't slow down! ]
Thank you. I'm glad to see her appetite has returned.
[ She sighs happily. She's been worried for Willow. After being lost and found in the woods, the spooked horse had been reluctant to leave the stables and jumped at mere shadows. It's taken a bit of coaxing to bring her out, and the soft and gentle way the man speaks to her no doubt reassures the anxious animal. ]
[Astralin isn't one to really laugh, but seeing Willow so energetic and happy makes him smile in turn. He had a soft spot for animals, and despite how fast the horse is eating, he keeps his hand extended out so the horse can eat in peace. His other hand reaching for Willow's muzzle, and petting it softly with a content, happy smile. Although, his attention is quick to turn toward Marianne again, that smile remaining despite his attention on her.]
It is a pleasure to meet you, Lady Marianne. I am Astralin. Astralin Turnont.
[Once the carrot is finished, his full attention turns to her now. A bit curious as to what happened to the animal, since she seemed relieved at something. Usually not one to pry, but again, he certainly had the biggest soft spots with animals.]
Ah? Did something happen to the poor thing? She is more than welcome to eat anything on the farm if it will bring her appetite back.
[ Willow is tense at first, snorting and watching the man stiffly, but once she's sensed that Astralin means no harm, she starts to relax into his hand, nudging against him and welcoming the affection. She even licks his fingers as if seeking more food. To see them getting on well warms Marianne's heart. ]
Willow accompanied us on the expedition to Rumpitur and was spooked by strange noises. [ She explains, stroking the horse's mane. ] She ran off and we searched frantically for her, but it was a while before we could find her. She's been uneasy since then.
[Kind... Those are words that he never thought he'd hear from a stranger. It leaves him feeling warm in his chest, and there's a faint shade of red that appears on his skin, but only momentarily as it's quick to pass. His attention shifting back to Willow, who he regards with a smile, as well as another carrot that's in his pocket for her to eat.]
Ah... Yes, there is something strange about that forest. I too, heard strange noises, so I am not surprised that the gal was frightened. However, full glad I am to see that you both seem to be faring okay after the whole ordeal.
[He takes a step back from Willow to fully regard Marianne now. His hand brushing back some of his hair, as he turns his attention to the vases that still had flowers in them.]
I do believe Miss Rinoa mentioned you. That you have a method for ensuring flowers do not go bad with the use of candles.
Looking at her now, I'm confident she'll make a full recovery.
[ Marianne says with positivity in her soft voice. Seeing Willow return to her more energetic self, she's feeling more certain than before that her friend will be alright. While she never did locate the source of the strange noises that both she and Astralin encountered, what's in those woods is behind them, for now. ]
You know Rinoa? [ She ducks her head, suddenly feeling a bit shy to have been brought in conversation. Though...the memory of that day makes her smile fondly. ] We made scented candles using flowers from the festival.
Good. If there is any trouble, you can bring her by the farm again. She can use the lands to graze. And should she want, there are other animals on the farm she may want to socialize with as well.
[He's definitely loosened up since the forest incident, but there's certain things about that forest that still bug him. Never the less, they were out of there now, even though he can only imagine how it felt as an animal to be in that situation. They were prone to be more sensitive to these things, after all.]
I do know her, yes. You see, I have an abundance of flowers that I was giving away to people... Should you want any flowers here, you are more than welcome to take them with you as feed. Or perhaps I could put them in one of these ice vases?
[He notices Marianne's shyness, and... It's actually a bit endearing. He was shy in his own right, but it was interesting to see it other people as well.]
That sounds lovely. I am suppose to learn it from her soon, but I thank you for showing her this method. I would have not thought to make candles.
That would be wonderful. I think a change of scenery is just what she needs.
[ Willow certainly has no objections if it means she will get more treats. Soon enough she'll put the memory of the forest behind her. The mysterious happenings in the forest will linger in Marianne's mind for longer. At night, she's found herself with uneasy dreams of walking into the thick of the woods and disappearing...but she chalks it up to exhaustion and her worry over her horse friend. ]
We thought the same thing. It would be a waste to throw away such beautiful flowers. [ Oh. Marianne feels even more self-conscious now, but she's glad Rinoa enjoyed the experience so much that she's now even teaching it to others. ] Those vases... [ Her eyes return to the pottery that had caught her attention in the first place. ] Are they real ice?
[He certainly had a soft spot for animals, which is why Willow gets one last treat before Astralin finally lets her go. More than happy to let her graze if she'd like, or to eat some of the hay and flowers that surrounded the farm. Quickly taking a step back now, and giving the horse some space. Attention quickly shifting back to Marianne, however, at the mention of those vases that he had laying around.]
Yes. They were made using my magic, so I suppose you could say there is a bit of a literal, personal touch to the vases.
[He doesn't hesitate to reach for one of the vases, offering one to Marianne to look at it, and even take. A friendly, but light smile appearing on his lips as he offers it up to her. Still a bit awkward when it came to social interaction, but he's truly trying his best to be friendly. Especially toward her, since she also seemed a bit shy, and nervous.]
They do not break, nor do they stick to your hand. You are free to take one, if you'd like.
[ Though Astralin has reassured her that the vase won't break, Marianne still reaches out to delicately take it between her hands. Willow grazes contentedly nearby, disinterested in the inedible magic pots.
True enough, the ice doesn't melt or stick to her skin. She turns the handicraft over admiringly. ]
How incredible. You're very talented.
[ Marianne returns an equally abashed smile. Socializing isn't her strong suit either. ]
Thank you, but I don't have much space to keep flowers. Besides, I think these belong where everyone can appreciate them.
[ Her inn room is... unexpectedly cluttered. Cleaning had never been Marianne's strong suit. It would be a shame for a work of art to be locked up there when they can be displayed on the farm. ]
[There's a quiet note in his head that she was quite kind. It prompts a gentle smile to appear on his lips, and quite frankly... If he was being honest, Marianne reminded him a bit of himself. It was endearing, but also a bit funny. Either way, the two would get along swimmingly, he imagines, and it seems like they have quite a bit in common.]
Thank you for your kind words. I make other things as well, should you need a sculpture of sorts. In fact, the other day, I made Miss Kotone a dog sculpture to give to her upperclassman. So if you are in need of any idols, or what have you... Please, feel free to come to me.
[Socializing isn't his strong suit either, but he is trying really hard. And Marianne was so kind, and easy to speak to.]
I suppose you are right. Well, you are more than free to pick from the fruit trees and bushes anytime you like.
