The Last Drop Grand Opening

Who: Whoever would like to attend the grand opening mingle at the Last Drop
Where: Entertainment District – The Last Drop
What: The grand opening of the night club / bar
Warnings: Alcohol and low-level drugs

The Last Drop opens big and loud with neon lights and music that booms from within to be heard from the streets. There are two large bouncers at the door, but they were allowing people in very freely on this night until the room was at capacity then there would be a line. The bouncers only stop those who are already three-sheets to the wind and could cause trouble, but otherwise, they are there to break up trouble as the night wears on.

Inside, there was smoke machines, flashing lights, loud music and the drinks were flowing to anyone that wanted. There was plenty of dancing, some dart boards along the walls, a jukebox, tables and booths for patrons to have drinks and discuss business.

There are stairs that lead up to a second floor to one side of the bar, lights on the stairs. There were people lounging on the stairs and it seemed to be ‘employees only’. Patrons were allowed the lounge there as well if they were tired of dancing or the tables or booths were occupied.

He takes the bag and peeks inside. Dried green things? Oh, maybe this world's version of dagga? Whatever it was called. He'd only used it once or twice since the idea of going into the apothecary to get some seemed embarrassing for some reason. He's not sure, since he doesn't really regard it as worse than alcohol. Maybe because people hung out at bars but not at the apothecary.

It was too bad he didn't have a pipe. Maybe he can find one later, so he pockets the bag and waits for Silco to return.

Silco returned a few minutes later with two drinks in hand, passing the vodka over the Levi and easing himself into the booth with a whiskey on the rocks. He made a mental note that the bag had disappeared, and he'd inquire about it in a few days to see what Levi did with it. At least there was potential for other forms of compensation.

"Once you finish your drink, if you'd prefer to get away from the noise, we can go to my office. I will be making more appearances tonight to honour the opening, of course."

"Um...yeah. I-its a lot. I should try to get used to it, I guess, but a break would be nice." Jinx liked places like this, so he was going to end up in them sometimes while tailing her.

"There is the roof and other nooks and crannies in this place that you could utilize to observe here without being so exposed." The Last Drop had been hiding secrets long before he was alive after all, and it would continue to do so. This was why it was such a staple in the lives of Zaunites.

"Unfortunate for you that Jinx likes the loud music and potential for chaos. Once I establish a better workshop for her, it will be easier."

"That's good to know. I'll have to search them all out later. Maybe, um, maybe sometime its not as busy."

He sighs, "Yeah but...I've got to get out of my comfort zone anyway. Get used to different things. Its not like I can spend my entire time here locked in my apartment."

Maybe get over some of his issues. Though anything he tried there wouldn't be really healthy.

"If you feel inclined, Jinx can show you a few." He doubted that would happen. She might be possessive of some of those spots, but it was useful for Levi to know of them. "Late morning is like the best time to explore."

He nodded his head, not expecting to hear such words so openly. It raised his opinion of the younger man, allowing him to be more assured of his choice to bring Levi on board. "Hiding away in one place is not living. It is best to be out in the world."

"...it might be better to find myself. Then I know it better." And if Jinx doesn't know he knows about it he can watch her from it too.

He nods slowly, "I'd like to just live quietly, but that's not something this place will allow. So maybe I can...I-I don't know, but getting used to things I'm not is probably a first step."

"Of course. She would probably prank you anyway." And it was better if Levi knew certain ins and outs of this place. He would have to locked down some areas that provided direct access to him, of course. One couldn't be too careful even with the hired help.

"Oh, it will allow it in brief spurts, but could that be considered living? It seems like a lonely existence lacking ambition." Then again, he supposed that Levi might not be someone who had been given opportunity for ambition. Soldiers could be so stifled.

"You said late morning was best? I'll come over tomorrow, then. Look around the place when its quieter." Hopefully avoid Jinx, as he has no desire to be pranked, especially not with whatever she considered a prank.

"I don't know. I don't think I can even imagine what a normal life is for people. I don't even know what I'd try to strive for."

"That is agreeable. There will be two staff members on sight restocking and preparing for opening at that time, but they shouldn't hassle you at all." At this point, all the staff were relatively new and he made certain they knew who one another were by sight at the very least. Levi was on that list, of course.

"Perhaps the longer we are stuck here, you'll find the answers to those mysteries. After all, we seem to be able to do almost anything that we like."

He nods. He'd prefer not to have to explain why he wants in if the place isn't open.

"Maybe...I guess this is the only chance I have to do so."

"If the discussions are true, you can do as you please as a second chance at life. I would make from it what you might not have an opportunity to where you came from."

As far as he was concerned, everyone was going to do as they pleased anyway. If things went completely off the rails, apparently this place would change or start again with a different version. As he couldn't guarantee he would make it to the new version, he had to preserve this one.

"Yeah, but...I know that computer or whatever said I wasn't dead but I don't think I have a life to go back to. Last thing I remember was...well, we fought a god and when we thought we beat it it kinda...absorbed us. Then I ended up here." After being promised rest. This place sure wasn't a rest.

He didn't entirely understand the technology here, not like his daughter did. They didn't have such things as 'computers' in such a sense, but they advanced technology quickly since he had taken over and opened the door to illicit inventions. It was still an uphill battle for him at times.

"So you plan on making a life for yourself here without the want to return home. It means you have something to lose here. Second chances indeed."

Levi doesn't really understand it either. They didn't have computers in his time, at least not outside of the weird bunkers where Logic was being made. "I don't think I really have a choice."

"Everyone has a choice. Some matters may be out of your control, but you are the only one who can live your life," he remarked simply. He raised his tumbler to his lips and took a sip from his whiskey. "And if you need assistance, all you have to do is ask."

He hasn't had a choice in like 90% of his life. It was weird to have one at all, but Silco was right. He doesn't really want to go back to someone dictating what he did or didn't do. It was scary, though. What if he messed up? He's still not even sure if leaving the army was the right choice. "I-I guess."

He looks down at his glass and takes a sip before swishing the liquid around for a moment. "I might. I don't know. I don't really know how to deal with a lot of things right now. B-but, um, I wouldn't want to be a burden." Like he always thought he was.

A single glance over at Levi told him that he had his work cut out for him with the boy. A good enough soldier, and the boy needed structure but only when following orders. Everything else, everything messy could come with time and nudging out from under the umbrella of structure.

Perhaps it would be helped along with a substance or two Silco could get his hands on.

"If you do your job well, I wouldn't consider you a burden. If you need training or opportunities, those come with the job." After all, it was an excellent way to build loyalty and make a better man for his cause. He considered Levi an investment.

"I will do my very best, Sir." He didn't really know how to do anything else. But as he still felt he owed Silco that went doubly. Can't let down the guy who helped him out and gave him a chance.

"Good. I know you will," he remarked and considered leaving the conversation there. After all, he and Levi could sit in relative silence and it didn't feel awkward for him. He expected the kid would pull a weapon if someone came aggressively at their table at least.

Levi nods and takes another drink. He's perfectly find letting the conversation stop there. He was never good at small talk, anyway, so he likes it when he can just sit with someone and no one needs to talk.

He'd definitely pull a gun on anyone who threatened Silco, though. He's been carrying the concealed hand gun on him most times he's out in the city anyway.

The lapse into silence didn't bother him in the least, and he allowed his attention to shift to the multiple patrons mingling together. He had a bodyguard here at the table with him, and that was security enough.

After a few minutes of their silence and drinking together, Silco made a point of sighing and tipping his tumbler to Levi. "I should mingle. Do escape to the office upstairs if you need a break from the noise," he said as he slid out from the booth to move away and carry on with the evening.
