[If you're involved with the police or justice system in some way, be it by working there or getting caught doing something you shouldn't, you know who Themis is. He is a judge in the courts, a middle-class man who, despite his youth, is well-regarded for his sagacity. While yes, Everything is Perfect, that doesn't mean the police aren't trying their best to make sure it stays that way...]
1) Turnabout
[This may not be Ace Attorney, but it's a courtroom all the same, and you're on trial for something. Whatever it is, it's (probably) not that big of a crime; in fact, it could even be described as incredibly petty. But the officer who flagged you didn't seem to care, or had a quota to fill or something, so here you are.
Themis takes a seat at the top of the highest podium in the room, prompting everyone to stand briefly before sitting again. He looks at the papers in front of him for a few moments... and makes a sour face. Whether because it's a silly thing to waste time with or because it's a more serious crime remains to be seen.]
Very well, then... how do you plead?
2) Investigations
[Themis is on his hands and knees, examining the dirt. It doesn't appear to be disturbed... but as he gets to his feet, he notes that this stretch of road is particularly barren now. Wasn't there something here not long ago...?
Yes... there was. He glances around, then turns to whoever is closest and asks about it, a little frantically.]
Wasn't there a clinic here not long ago? I... There was something I wanted to...
[He trails off, gesturing awkwardly, but unable to really put his thoughts to words. Hey... the sky looks awfully dark, for some reason... like it might rain?]
3) Wildcard
[Elidibus's constantly-recurring memory item will be his red mask, of course! He'll be recovering memories at about an 8 out of 10 on the sliding scale of remembering everything; his memories of his past are already kind of fragmented, so what's a little more messing with them on top of that, yeah?
You can either throw a scenario at me to roll with, or I can tailor something to you if you want! Just toss me a line at quko @ discord, crystalzero
[ Hades stares at the blank spot where the clinic SHOULD have been. It's not the only building that has randomly vanished lately but there's just something far more real about it happening to one that he has worked at for years.
At least, he thinks he has... ]
...How am I supposed to look after my patients now?
[ That seems an easier question to ask than 'where has the clinic gone?' ]
[In the small glimpses of Themis's -- what are they but memories, he supposes -- there is only a concept with a name, and some out-of-order events. Justice. Elidibus. Where did they come from? Where did that red mask that continues to turn up come from?
But this... the poor man has had his livelihood ruined, and by his reaction, his very life, too.]
I wish I had the answer to that. It is true that unfair things sometimes happen to good people... and yet...
[Has that ever happened here in such a meaningful way, though? Unfair things happening to good people; things had been more or less balanced and fair up until now, right? And he would know, seeing all he's seen in the courts.]
It's not the end, I promise. While I have no means to explain an entire building disappearing, surely you can rebuild your life...?
[Themis opens his mouth; closes it, as if thinking twice about saying what's on his mind.]
I wish I could simply forget, but...
[The sense of duty embedded within the memories is too strong to ignore. The dedication and purpose. The sheer amount of love that went into his actions, twisted as it was. It really happened, that much is for certain, or those emotions wouldn't be so deeply entwined with the things he saw... right?]
Standing here fretting about it isn't going to help. Come, we should go somewhere out of the chill; perhaps we can speak of this more. I'd like to hear what you've seen.
[ He offers a vague sound in response but follows after Themis, wherever the judge intends to lead him. A drink would be nice right now. Some good, strong liquor so he can pass out. Or maybe not if the dreams return... ]
I hardly know how to describe what I've seen, [ he mutters. ] A world so different to ours. A terrible bioweapon unleashed upon the st-- the planet. Almost everyone dead.
[ He doesn't want to say. It's a terrible thing. A weapon that should never see the light of day nor occupy anyone else's mind. ]
It was created by...a certain people, [ he says cagily. ] Those caught in it would suddenly be drained of their vitality and drop dead where they stood. It spread across the land like an infection and nothing was able to halt it. Anyone who didn't succumb to it died in the ensuing fight for resources.
[A sigh through his nose. Themis casts the prosecution a glance.]
Honestly, this is what you are wasting my time with? I understand little things can add up, but really...
[At least he recognizes it. Shifting in his seat, he looks back at Levi.]
While I would normally argue it is the principle of things to consider here... I see no reason to mar a man's record with such a trifling matter. And if no one was there, how do you prove it happened?
[There is a brief back and forth between him and the people on the other side of the room, until he eventually shakes his head.]
The evidence is insufficient, and quite frankly, I'm disappointed in the system's resources going to this, of all things. Dismissed.
[Of course, when Levi gets outside the courtroom and makes it maybe halfway down the hall, Themis rushes to catch up with him.]
I wanted to formally apologize to you about all this... There are times when even I think our justice system can get a little out of hand.
[An awkward pause, but he comes back to smile at him. They look to be pretty close in age, even though Levi is a little bit younger; he remembers seeing his name and stats on the paperwork.]
Levi, wasn't it? May I ask what you normally do around town? I don't believe we've ever run into one another before, and in a place as small as this, it's rare not to.
Hmm... Do you have any hobbies, perhaps? I was hoping perhaps I could find some way to make it up to you, as I have ever believed actions are more powerful than words alone.
[It's... definitely a strange thing to ask, but Themis has ever been an oddball, even among his peers.]
[Levi raises an eyebrow and looks over Themis. This had to be a trick or a scam, right? Finding a better reason to put him behind bars or fine him? He's never really been comfortable with authority figures, for reasons he doesn't understand, so that makes him even more on edge.]

Doctor...?
[That is... a fair question, however. He approaches, extending a hand towards Hades' shoulder.]
I... I'm sure there's a reasonable explanation, right? But how does a building just... disappear?
no subject
I don't understand. Our lives have been uneventful until now. Why is this happening to us?
[ He presses a hand to his forehead. Images of darkness and despair from all the odd trinkets he's touched linger in the back of his mind. ]
I'm just a doctor. I only want to heal others. So why...?

It feels like this has happened before. Everything falling apart.

What kind of bioweapon? Surely it would have had to have been created by someone...
[An odd lilt on "creating". Yes, he vaguely remembers... that he created things. But how?]
For the record, I don't disbelieve you. I'm just curious to hear what you know.

I plead this is bullshit.
[Of all the things he could be brought in for, Levi was here to answer a jaywalking charge. It was almost insulting.]
There was nobody there or coming, I didn't do anything wrong.
