[You know, after being here for nearly a year you'd expect one to grow more accustomed to all the weirdness that's going on. And well, Akechi had thought he had seen it all. From the vengeful desert ghosts to maze of trauma to a gigantic squid monster -- the last one, which he missed because of something he didn't see incoming. He had known that this world (especially the Council) liked to play with their emotions and put them under different kinds of afflictions. But this time they had gone too far, hit him where it hurt the most and insulted his very being.
They had erased his memories. Like that fucking piece of shit therapist had attempted to do.
So, to say that Akechi was in a foul mood was an understatement of a lifetime. He was really tempted to pick where Dazai had left off and actually set the whole city hall building on fire. It honestly took a lot self-control from him not to just summon Loki and blow the place into smithereens. But... for the first time ever in his life Akechi has someone else to take into consideration when making his choices and well. He really didn't want to add more stress on Akira's plate during this time of the year. His sudden personality change had been just as traumatic to his partner as it had been to him.
Reluctantly, he decides to focus his energy to something more productive instead of destruction. Wow, what a character growth!
So, he does take part in assisting rebuilding Aldrip.]
a; the mess
[Even though Akechi isn't the most physically buff out there, and is somewhat lacking on the pure strength-department, it doesn't mean he's completely useless when it comes to dealing with the rubble and construction work. Meaning, he'll mostly take the role of an organizer, listing down needed equipment and materials and directing people around. Just give him one of those yellow construction helmets and he'd be perfect!
In fact he's going through with his notes at the moment with a rather frustrated expression on his face, his lips pressed into a thing line.]
Hey, [He calls out for the closest person, looking up from his notebook.] do you have moment? There's something that needs to be moved and we could use extra muscle power.
b; disaster
[He's... not entirely sure how he allowed himself to be pressured into working at the kitchen tent but there he is! Standing in front of one of the bigger pots placed on a makeshift fire. It's been about a year since last time the locals dragged him into cooking, and he has been learning some (mostly thanks to efforts of Kotone and Akira) so he had hoped that he managed to do as much as help with the soup.
And yet, despite of his best efforts, he's having an awful déjà vu as the strong burnt stench reaches his nostrils, the soup he's making taking a very unappetizing brownish color in the pot. Oh no, just what did he do?]
c; frustration
[Akechi keeps his eyes and ears open when the diplomats from Ketsora arrive to Aldrip. Of course he had, just like about everyone else, noticed the ominous blue light in the sky. His first reaction was to investigate it but... unfortunately the locals wanted to keep The Chosen away from the incident. Which he found to be beyond infuriating. Really, at times like these he really did miss Dazai and his network.
But with his options limited he could only do was to make sure that the relationship between Ketsora didn't escalate any further. So, after the diplomats came and announced the party Akechi agreed to help with the preparations. Which, this time, actually meant running errands for the party. So.. Great?
Akechi can be seen walking around Aldrip, carrying bags and boxes full of different materials for the party, from pieces of fabric to sashes and to other decoration. It's actually pretty difficult to make his way through the bumpy streets (god he misses proper pavement), but if he's struggling he's not showing it!
And like usually, the closer the party date gets, the more hectic things become. And Akechi finds himself sitting at one of the crafting tables helping with the decorations. Surrounded by colorful fabric and paper, he's tasked in making frivolous and tacky-looking ribbons as well making paper flowers.. It's actually going surprisingly well?
Also, there might or might not be a playful black tortoise-colored kitty cat running around the hallways and chasing down the frogs.]

WILDCARD: [ooc: You know what this is for :D Akechi can be found about anywhere around Aldrip. So, HMU!]

It seems weirdly fitting for the detective, Yu thinks, even though that tone sort of sets him on edge. The sword, too; knowing that he was correct to bring his, that this is probably going to end in a trading of blows. He had come here to apologize, originally. Seeing the way Akechi carries himself, the preparedness for battle, he has to wonder if the other boy would appreciate that at all.
He decides against it, in the end.]
I see our last meeting left an impression on you, too.
[He keeps his tone carefully even, measured, watching with an analytical eye to see what Akechi is going to do.]
no subject
[Oh. You bet his dramatic ass is enjoying every moment of this.
Akechi takes few more steps forward, approaching Yu while also measuring him with his gaze. The red eyes are very focused, analyzing the other's body language and taking in the tone of his voice. It's a bit of intense, probably. He views Yu as if he were a bug under his microscope.
But then, he huffs out a dry laughter and cocks his head up. Leaning his shoulders back he allows his own posture to loosen.]
Hah, but truth to be told, I was left rather unsatisfied with our last meeting. I feel that because of our ailments we were not able to make the measured actions and bring out our 'a-game', as some would put it. Do you feel the same as I?
no subject
I shudder to think what might have happened if I didn't. I was backed into the corner.
[Ever humble, but it's not like it's a lie. That fight had pushed him to the brink, and honestly, they were both lucky to get out of the situation without further injury. Or...he felt lucky, at least, until Akechi asks that question. When he does, something uneasily settles in Yu's mind: Akechi was enjoying that fight, wasn't he? Yu hadn't been able to get a read on the situation at the time, with his mind fogged over by corruption. Now that he's thinking clearly, that's all those words make him think.]
I wasn't using my best judgment, [he concedes, treading carefully with his words.]
So this is less of a date, and more of a duel.
no subject
Which is why he wanted to have a redo.
The keen red eyes are focused on Yu, holding him still under his gaze, before bursting out into a barking a laughter.]
Do you bring sword to all of your dates, or am I just that special? [He sneers.] But you are right. I didn't have a candlelit dinner planned for us.
no subject
Only for special occasions, [he says, with the sort of ease that comes from pushing away your own wariness. Whether he's actually feeling that way or just projecting is anyone's guess, really.] So we can call it a rematch, then? Or maybe more like a do-over.
[Somehow it's not totally surprising that it's come to this point, not after their last meeting. Not after the brief glimpses he's had past the pleasantness. This wouldn't be his first choice in action, but knowing how difficult it was to disengage from their last encounter, he has a feeling he's left with few choices.]
Well, [he says after a moment's pause,] I'm supposed to show you a good time, right? So, what are the terms, here?
[Because he's absolutely not about to have a fight to the death right here and now.]
no subject
Akechi shifts his weight from one foot to another, turning slightly to the side with his hip popping out.]
Very well. Yu Narukami-san, I, Goro Akechi, hereby challenge you into a duel. We can use any weapons of our choosing along with Personas. The duel will end when one of the parties either gives up or is unable to continue.
Is this acceptable?
no subject
Is this acceptable. That's a funny way to word it -- it means that Yu has to accept that this is happening, rather than just reacting to it. That he has to buy in. He doesn't really want to...or so he feels at first. But he hasn't shied away from a fight before, and he's not about to start doing so now. So, after a moment, he nods, both hands going to his sword.]
I accept the terms. [Whatever reluctance he felt at first blush has dropped, replaced by a ready defensive stance.] Whenever you're ready
no subject
He doesn't Yu too well, but he is rather close to both Akira and Kotone. The two other wildcards were prone to accept almost everything that came to their way, entertaining the people around them and indulging them. Creating those pesky bonds. Something that Akechi himself had found himself near unable to do. Setting him truly apart from the Wildcards.
Well, anyway, his own angst about the failures and other shortcomings in life aside, he kind of knew that Yu could be pushover and wouldn't back down from his challenge. On the basis that Akira nor Kotone would.]
Good. I must warn you, I will not be holding back. [A fair warning. He had said the same thing to Kotone, who had still not been able to prepare for the lengths that Akechi was willing to take this. But this wasn't the first fight between him and Yu. So the other should know what he's in for. Mostly.
Jousting on his knees, Akechi spreads his legs and lowers his upper body -- assuming his usual battle position. With his free hand he reaches for his own forehead, choosing to channel Loki right away. His sword is drawn behind his back, all ready for the surge.
Akechi allows a heavy silence fall between them, milking the tension to the max. Because he just is like that I guess. Then, after a good old minute he bounces forward, surging towards Yu and slashing with his sword.]
no subject
Maybe he could back out. Maybe he should. But Yu can't deny that there's something so interesting about Akechi, too, something he'd like to figure out. He's seen so many different sides to the boy so far, after all. He'd like to know which ones are real. His own curiosity, his desire to see through illusions and find the truth -- there's no way he could back out of this. Besides...there's something to be said about getting to know someone from the other end of the blade.]
I wouldn't expect you to.
[Whatever he knows or assumes to be true about Akechi -- he could never imagine the Detective Prince holding back. Especially not on his account.
It's within the space between two breaths that Akechi lunges forward, and Yu is ready to meet him, blades clashing with the scrape of metal on metal. He puts strength into his arms, an attempt to push Akechi back before he parries with his sword.
So far, he makes no attempt to summon a Persona. He's not nearly pressured enough for that yet.]
hello this is starbucks, can i take your order
Their blades clashes with a sharp hiss, Yu's sword catching the teeth of Akechi's sawtoothed weapon. Gritting his teeth tightly together, he grabs the handle of his sword with both hands to add more sheer strength to his push, trying to make the Wildcard back away.]
oh no don't ask me how i take my coffee...sweats!!
He's good, that much is clear.
Grabbing the hilt of his katana with both hands, he charges forward again as if to strike -- and at the last second, ducks down low, sweeping his sword in a wide arc close to knee level.]
are you sure you want me to decide it for you............
There's a gleeful smirk on his face when his opponent seems to cut the cat 'n mouse chase short, he brings his blade to his side to meet Yu's. But then the other one changes the tactic on the last second and aims lower, forcing Akechi to think fast and jump backwards. Luckily, he manages to avoid getting his legs slashed but the bold move does earn respect from the ex-detective.]
Not bad, Narukami-san. Now try that again.
just don't throw it at me and we're good
In terms of tactics, it'd be a fool's errand to listen to that request. So he doesn't; instead of a similar strike, Yu follows up with a quick series of three -- less powerful, but faster, aimed at Akechi's torso.
It's a delicate balance, this fight. Yu doesn't want to hurt anyone, but this seems to be more than just a duel, too. He can't back down and he can't show weakness.]
