[He suspected she would come around to his way of thinking sooner rather than later. She was insightful that way, and besides, she made her intentions perfectly clear after that whole jaunt through the Undercity stirring up excess dramatics.]

Nor would I require you to. You'll be at your best if you're interested in taking on the case for the both of us.

[He folded his hands behind his back as he walked slowly around her little store front, tilting his head at the limited furnishings.]

The Council. I want to know about them, specifically how they operate, who they are and how they assign both crimes and judgments for those crimes.

[The Council seemed like the most obvious obstacle to a relatively peaceful existence, and they had angered him by taking Jinx. Their unreasonable nature meant that he would deal with them swiftly in whatever means necessary, but he needed information first.]

Considering their little exploits into sentencing won't be effective to integration, there has to be a better way. If their reasons are not about providing better opportunities with rehabilitation, they are no better than Stillwater. So, they should be removed.

[For now, he'll be honest about his plans. He expected that she had researched him enough to know that his methods could be brutal and crude, so no point denying his intentions.]

[Silco threw her a patient look, and while her accusation wasn't entirely unfounded, it also was off the mark.]

I want them out of the way because they aren't useful to the function of this place. They are an element that so far, has no use we couldn't do for ourselves.

[If they wanted to, of course. They had all the people around these parts that could create a system of accountability, but the Council only had 'mystery' on their side and the ability to drag people to this place. That's all. Nothing else was particularly creative beyond that.]

You also underestimate my abilities if you think I can't create an enterprise of my own while under a Council's thumb. That's literally Zaun, girl.

[He had already began the ground work. No, removing the Council was personal.]

And you think this Council does?

[So far he had started out similar as he had back in the day, and so far, the Council seemed to not be interested in his business acquisitions. As long as he had everything carrying the appearance of being above board, there would be no issues as far as he was concerned. He did not discuss business much on the charms after all.]

Does that mean that you'll investigate the Council? It will likely take a united effort to remove them from power, or at least limit their reach.

[His preference was removal, but he would tolerate keeping them impotent for a certain amount of time first.]

Of course they do. If they are smart, they have spies at every level and they pay the locals for any information regarding us.

[The network was problematic, which was why he kept most of his business deals as in-person affairs only. He wasn't about to trust that someone wasn't reading and transcribing everything he said and who he spoke to. Just look what Jinx could do with the network.

If Caitlyn was as smart as he wanted to give her credit for, she would be interested in knowing what he was up to which would only come with building a relationship. They would never, ever trust each other, and he preferred it that way.]

For the benefit of all Chosen. Of course, as it should be. I would have it no other way.

Or perhaps whoever brought us here has omnipotence.

[He was under the assumption that their movements, their conversations and their actions were known. This was little more than a prison with a more pleasant atmosphere. Most likely whoever their overseers were, they were picking and choosing when to act against them to make it seem like a fair system. Anyone with half a brain should know better.

He had to put on a pleasant persona as he didn't have the resources of old, and if anything, he enjoyed the challenge as much as it sickened him. He would carve back a space for himself and Jinx, and he would take his pound of flesh from the Council.]

I'll check in.

[He wouldn't leave it to anyone to provide him information on their own time. He needed to verify all of her information prior to using it after all.

With that, he folded his hands behind his back and turned away to leave the new business.]
