Considering you're mentioning the sentencing, not to mention proof of wrongdoing and proof of innocence, how do you view your work as relating to the ones who are forcing the sentencing on us?

Are you fine with them, and this is intended to help them and what they're doing? Or are you against them?

When it comes to sentencing, my intentions are to help our fellow Chosen. Not everyone here is guilty, and even those that are don't necessarily deserve what this Council thinks is fitting punishment. If I can help with proof of innocence, or at least lessen any attempts by the Council, I want to try.

I sure don't agree with some of the annoying chaos some among us are causing here, but letting that Council do whatever sounds like a terrible idea too. The last thing we want to do is letting their power get to their head even more than it already seems to have.

[ Not that Ange has much personal experience with the Council and all, but.. you know, the rumours and stories aren't exactly great. ]

I'm not so sure how much they're willing to listen to proof of innocent though.

My thoughts exactly. While we still don't know who or how exactly they brought us here, it's fair to assume the Council is either responsible or in collusion with the ones that did. They've already crossed a line there in and of itself.

[Which was proven by what they deemed crimes. There were several people here that were being sentenced for something they didn't do or something that shouldn't be considered a crime, while others did horrible things and those things weren't even acknowledged. What gave them the right to pull people from their worlds to punish them here?]

We can't say until we try. We had no warning this time, but now that we know they're starting to sentence people, hopefully we can do more to help the next group.

How exactly do you envision that help? If they summon the next group, and you have a proof of innocence for one of them, will you insist on coming along to present that evidence to them?

I'm no lawyer, but I would certainly try. If that's not allowed, then I'll do my best to prepare the individual on how to plead their case.

[Surely this council would accept outside evidence and testimony, right? Any reasonable court of law would, but nothing about this place would fly in a reasonable court of law.]

[ .. yeah. There's definitely a faint kind of naive edge to what Caitlyn is saying, Ange thinks. Granted, it's easy for Ange to think when she's so naturally cynical that she would assume the absolute worst from the Council in the first place.. ]

I'd be pretty impressed if you pulled that off, honestly.

They don't exactly seem like the types who really care about how things actually go down in a court of law.

That's the problem, unfortunately. They play by their own rules, and don't seem to care that we don't even know what those rules are.

[Maybe it is naivety. Maybe it's just her extreme stubbornness. Either way, she's determined to at least try.]

So far I mostly have seen people harass them. Which makes sense to me, honestly. If they don't give us respect, the instinct is to not show them respect in return.

On the other hand, I also don't think we're going to get anything done that way.

I agree. Harassing them will only make things worse. They haven't done anything to deserve respect, but we're never going to get anywhere if we continue to piss them off.

[But if they won't be open and honest with the Chosen, how else are they suppose to act? It reminds her a bit of the Council back home. Ruling the Lanes, but never really caring to talk or learn from the people they were supposed to be ruling. Never caring whether they were actually being cared for, just that their will was being enacted.

Her dislike for governing bodies was growing more and more these days.]

Being business-like with them seems like the best course of action to me. Don't give them respect, since you're right to say they don't deserve that, but don't harass them either. Only cooperate insofar it doesn't give us more trouble.

But I guess I'm preaching to the choir here. You seem to understand that this is the best kind of attitude we can take up against these entities here.

But there are plenty of people here who won't agree with me, and who will just continue to do as they like.

You're absolutely right. I can think of several people off the top of my head that will only continue to make things worse. At least there's enough of us that seem to be level headed and go about this the right way.

[She just hoped the trouble makers wouldn't bring more trouble on the rest of them.]

I think so. I certainly hope so. Otherwise, nothing we do to makes things better here matters in the end.

I hope you're right.

I have to admit that I don't have quite as much faith in it. But I hope you're right all the same. It'd be way less of a pain for us in the end if things turn out that way.
