{Mini Event} Day of Devotion
This is an entirely opt-in very casual event that has nothing to do with overarching storyline and is just an additional introductory log, and a means for characters to meet. We hope you've all had a very happy Valentine's Day week however you've chosen to spend it!
SCARVES OF LOVE

The season of affection and love of all kinds falls upon Aldrip in the wake of their festivities for Those Who Were There. As part of the celebration, what's referred to as the 'Day of Devotion,' local merchants carry a variety of wares, but none so coveted as their multicoloured scarves available in a variety of prints, designs, and fabrics. Perhaps consider picking one up and giving it to someone who's important to you. No money? No problem! Whilst Aldrip doesn't exactly work on a layaway system or akin to, you'll find the mercantile business owners are quite open to trades and other means of bartering. Maybe they'll give out a scarf or two in agreement for running some errands...
Lucky recipients of these very fashionable scarves will find themselves suspiciously open to sharing positive, warm and fuzzy, or perhaps downright amorous feelings toward the person who gifted them the scarf to begin with, regardless of whether you've known them for years or even just a couple of weeks. But don't worry—the feelings are temporary! Once the Day of Devotion comes to a natural conclusion, your feelings will return to something like normalcy and you'll still wind up with a new fashion accessory. Of course, if you've always been amorous with that special someone, you likely won't notice any sort of change.
Take the opportunity to embrace the celebration, maybe embrace one another a little bit, too, and begin forming some potentially everlasting bonds with others.
BRING PROTECTION

Not everyone is choosing to celebrate the Day of Devotion in the same way. Due to the heightened popularity of the pretty scarves, some of Aldrip's jewellers have been bitten by the green bug of jealousy. In an attempt to compete with the sales of scarves, jewellers are advertising pendants, brooches, and other assorted charms that are meant to serve as warding and protective trinkets. What are they protecting one from? It's difficult to say and the merchants aren't inclined to give a straight answer. But whether you need protection from love, personal feelings, or perhaps something more physical, they've got you covered!
If you choose to give these amulets to others, recipients of them and their related will be compelled to share their true feelings with those around them in addition to the person who gave them the protective charms. This sounds like it could be a good thing, however, that means it covers the array of positive, negative, and every shade in between, without a filter in place. Consider these accessories a potential test of friendships, familial relationships, and more.
Like the scarves, this need and desire to be truthful with your feelings will be temporary, lasting until the Day of Devotion celebration is over. But at least you'll be protected. From something. Maybe. Probably. Or not!
FLOWERS FOR ALDRIP

By now, you may be well familiar with Aldrip's variety of fields that are filled with vegetables and fruits that grace the dinner tables of the town and local cuisine. During the Day of Devotion and weeks leading up to it, you'll find that they're clearing another field and preparing the soil. What for, you won't find out until the actual day of the celebration. Once it arrives, there's a collection of simple carts filled with flowering plants. Locals and newly-arrived alike are welcome to lend a hand in planting them along the neatly tilled rows.
You may find plants that resemble or are identical to plants from your home world. You may find plants that you've never seen in your life. They come in a variety of colours and are accompanied by a lightly pleasing scent that shouldn't be too overpowering, though may still disturb those with allergies.
All who help out with the planting, watering, and other tending, will be rewarded with a bouquet of flowers that can be passed onto others to show your appreciation and other forms of affection. You may even find yourself making a good and lasting impression on the locals by offering some assistance.

Totally! [ He's still catching his breath, but he's getting there. ] No one can work under pressure all the time.
[ Certainly not him. He knows his limits, even if he tries to push them sometimes. And this is one of those times, and this is what happens... He takes another breath and wipes his brow. Even if she's just trying to make him feel better, he'll take it. ]
Thanks for making me feel better. I'm not totally sure I deserve it with how sore I'm gonna feel tomorrow, but that's super nice of you.
[ He stretches, arms above his head. Okay, he's a little better now. He just has to complain one more time. Mostly to himself, but Kisara should still hear it. ]
God, I wish Drax was here.
no subject
Those are more heavily-weighted than she expects them to be. As someone who's often working under some kind of pressure, even if it's self-imposed pressure, Kisara finds that she tends to work better that way. But that said, it is very likely that she pushes herself too much, too far, too hard. Maybe she doesn't know how to live in any other way.
Except... fishing? If that even counts.]
Being sore is just your body's way of saying you put in some effort.
[She replies with a warm smile. Of course, it's more than that, too. Pushing past one's boundaries of comfort, be it emotional or physical, is not a bad thing. But knowing where the line is important.
He continues and her head tips as she eyes him, taking a moment to roll the shoulder she's propped her bag partially over.]
Who's that? Friend from home?
no subject
That, or I got my butt kicked, but I get what you mean.
[ Isn't Gamora always saying that? That he should work himself a little harder so that he keeps his strength up? Damn, he's gonna fall behind if he doesn't actually train, isn't he? It's remarkably easy to picture her rolling her eyes at his laziness... Peter shakes off the mental image and grins. It's all good, he's got this, right?
Man, Kisara makes it look easy though. ]
Oh, yeah! Drax is a really good friend of mine. He's super strong, like I bet he could carry five of these. And he used to be a farmer so he likes this kind of work. Maybe even say something about how 'on Katath, a child could carry this much weight before their tenth year, Peter Quill.'
[ Kisara doesn't have a frame of reference, but trust me that this is Peter's best Drax impression. ]
no subject
[Kisara looks incredibly intrigued. Or maybe she's just trying to picture herself carrying five, which is not at all going to happen. She's strong, but she's not that strong. Fortunately, she's got nothing to prove. One is just good enough for her, honestly.
It's true that the impression is lost on her, but it's more the spirit of the statement that strikes her. Issuing another laugh, she beckons for him to join her.]
That's impressive. Sounds like this Drax is yours is quite the character. I don't think either of us are going to be carrying five at the same time today, but maybe that's just something to work toward.
[She's kidding. She really is.]
no subject
[ He laughs. It's probably hard for people to visualize Drax without the context or the fact that his skin is teal and he's like 7 feet tall. But Peter's heard enough stories about how humans are wimpy in comparison, so five of these is way more than he'll ever try. ]
He's a character alright. Great guy to have around when you're lifting stuff, or if you need a joke taken literally.
[ He says this out of love. ]
I think I'm good with just the one.
no subject
Out of curiosity, where were you taking these anyway? Did we need to take them somewhere specific? I think I've been going back and forth and just putting some where they were needed. I get the feeling they're going to fill this whole thing with flowers.
[As she's looking over the field and those working it, it seems like such a small beginning to a project. It won't all get done in one day. Nothing ever happens that quickly. But if they come back and tend to it, in time, it'll be impressive. Planting flowers isn't necessarily her thing, but they sure are nice to look at.]
It'll be a sight when it's done.
no subject
Oh, yeah. I don't doubt we've got some of the best hearts in the galaxy.
[ "Heart" is after all, his greatest contribution to the team. Sure, his friends might say he's annoying, but he'd say otherwise. It's certainly not strength or smarts, but he leans into it more than anything. ]
Just out towards the field. [ Peter looks on. It's sure one hell of an undertaking. ] Yeah, I've never seen this many places for flowers in one place. They must really like flowers, to need this much stuff.
no subject
Her attention turns from him back onto the field and she trudges along. This is a lot better with company, that's for her. Not that she hadn't seen some she knew before. Of course she had. It's just nice to have some other friendly faces as well. She likes the people from home (mostly), but sometimes she needs just a moment, just a breath, not to think about what's going on there.]
The flowers could be part of one of their traditions. I'll admit that I didn't ask. But it's flowers. What harm could that really be doing? [After a pause, she grins.] Well, to anyone who's not allergic, I mean.
no subject
He follows as best he can, just happy to tag along and help (maybe he'll grab a bag of seeds or something, who knows. ]
That would make sense. Maybe they have some flower god they're trying to appease or something.
[ He shrugs. Flowers aren't super common out in space, but Groot collects them so he can't say he's not totally unfamiliar. ]
I doubt there's anything nefarious about 'em, though. Even if they might spread runny noses around town.
[ He's kidding. Mostly. ]
no subject
[Kisara, however, doesn't feel like they've had enough information to make that kind of assessment just yet.
Looking over to Peter, she's still wearing the same grin. Sounds like they're on the same page. It's nice to have someone she can make jokes with. He's an agreeable guy.]
I wonder if they thought about that. Imagine if someone really is allergic. This is going to be torture to them. I'm sure they've got medicine for that kind of thing, though. All these flowers in this one place? When they start blooming, that stuff is going to get everywhere.
no subject
[ Whether they were gods, a more advanced society, or something else, Peter doesn't know. But he's seen people be revered as gods before, and it doesn't really work out well. Hopefully it's nothing like that!
Really, it takes a lot for Peter to assume malice. He'd rather soften things with a joke, even when they're stuck on a strange planet. ]
Hah, I'll bet they didn't. [ He chuckles. ] Hopefully they aren't all immune or something, then they'd be like "Medicine? What for?" while somebody's sneezing up a storm.
[ Again, mostly joking. It would suck if that were the case... Kisara's suggestion seems way more likely. ]
no subject
Let's hope that doesn't happen, hm?
[Kisara trudges along and she finally pauses. Seems like the right place to drop off what they've brought with them. There's flowers to be planted and soil that hasn't quite been filled in entirely.]
Think this is good? Let's drop yours off here.
[Just to give the poor guy a break. His shoulders are probably in need of some respite after his very impressive display from before.]
