it's my (sister's birthday) party and i will cry if i want to

Who: Elphelt "humanity's wine aunt" Valentine
Where: Just about anywhere in Aldrip on June 06 - June 07
What: The allure of an adventure in another world has worn off, replaced with an overwhelming sense of homesickness. The combined effects of humans causing trouble for reason she doesn't understand, being kicked from the inn, not having her band, and, most of all, today being her sister's birthday has left her feeling confused and lonely, which has left her mood in an uncharacteristic downturn. A night on the town is what she thinks will cheer her up, but things are going off the rails.
Warnings: She's getting absolutely smashed and so is some property.

πŸ’€ 1 - NO VOLUME CONTROL

[ Not that Elphelt needs any excuses to sing in public, but her emotional and tipsy state has eliminated whatever sliver of restraint she (hypothetically speaking) has. Working through sadness via song is not unusual, but involving the public by doing so squarely in the, well, town square certainly is. As is breaking out into song in the commercial center, the gardens, and the...library? Either she is so out of it she has no idea where she is, how loud she is, or simply doesn't care--or some horrible combination all the above. ]

β™ͺ Hmm-hmm-hmm! Ah, ah, ah.

[ What starts out as humming to herself gradually increases in volume until she bursts fully into belting out out-of-context lyrics from whatever song is playing in her head. Despite her drunken state, her singing is still impeccable .A small sampling of options:

β™ͺ But I'm just a poor boy, nobody loves me / He's just a poor boy from a poor family / Spare him his life from this monstrosity / Easy come, easy go, will you let me go?

β™ͺ Things not what they used to be / Missing one inside of me / Deathly lost, this can't be real / Cannot stand this hell I feel

β™ͺ Somebody (Somebody) / Ooh, somebody (Somebody) / Can anybody find me / Somebody to love?

β™ͺ Whoa, you're a loaded gun / Oh, there's nowhere to run / No one can save me, the damage is done

β™ͺ How I wish, how I wish you were here / We're just two lost souls swimming in a fishbowl, year after year / Running over the same old ground, what have we found? / The same old fears, wish you were here

As she blurts out the lyrics, she goes all-in: jumping onto a nearby bench, a table, wagon--whatever is right on hand to belt out the rest of the song, using the wine bottle in her hand in place of a microphone. She will pick someone (you) to focus her act on, as if singing to them. When she finishes her impromptu act, she she immediately falls back, right off whatever she has used as a makeshift stage, and right onto the ground. She lays in place, not looking as happy as just a moment before when she was singing.
]

Oh, Ram, it's not the same...

πŸ’€ 2 - elstuck

[ How embarrassing! For someone already clumsy, being tipsy is not a good idea. There she was, wobbling down the street, and before she knew it, she tripped right into a wall! The poor establishment now has an extra window in which Elphelt is currently stuck. She pushes against the wall, only to discover her bottom half is wider than the hole. After a long think about how she got into this situation, she gives only the most half-hearted wiggle, wiggle, wiggle in a completely useless attempt to dislodge herself. ]

Oh, bother...

[ This is her home now. In her drunken state, she has resigned herself to this fact. Every so often she gives another wiggle, wiggle, wiggle or a frantic kick of her feets, but they lack any effort to actually remove herself, lest she cause more property damage. Why do humans build things with the integrity of paper? Aside from being resigned to her fate or giving more superficial attempts to escape, one may come across at just the right time to hear snoring coming from the wall-stuck woman. She really could use a hand to pull her out the way she came. ]

πŸ’€ 3 - SNEEPY TIME

[ There is only one way for a bender to end, especially for someone with no home to go to: out cold in public. Hair tussled, makeup smudged, snoring, and just a bit of drooling--It is decidedly unattractive. Downright embarrassing. A PR nightmare. An attack to her reputation. But that is not the worst part. No, the biggest problem is her penchant for talking in her sleep.

Oh, yeah. Right there. That's the stuff, honey. Mmm. Double the frosting...

Thank you, Mommy. I'm so happy you could come to my show...

I am the merciless apocalypse. My ears are deaf to the pleas of redundancies. Extermination of the human race, without prejudice.

Wow, she sure says some freaky shit in her sleep!

[unfortunately, she knows what a bender looks like. so when she comes across Elphelt, she stops. looks at her. she had maybe seen her singing so much, but had been too busy to stop...

and now, here she is. she can't really pass her by like this.

so she kneels down in front of Elphelt, tilting her head at her as she reaches out to touch her shoulder.]

Hey. Wake up. Let's get you home.

[it might probably give a normal person an idea to run at a comment like that, but Vi doesn't.]

You need to go home. Get cleaned up and get in bed. Where do you live?

[she'll take her back, if she needs to.]

[There's a fair amount of irony in Aloy's expression when she comes over to sit on the bench that was until several moments ago making its big break as a stage. Leaning over the woman on the ground, Aloy decides there's no injuries to be worried about, and instead simply gives her a nod.]

I'm guessing the 'poor boy' means you aren't singing about yourself?

[Aloy glances to the right, where she sees no one, and her lips quirk. People used to say Aloy was the seer of the unseen.]

It did sound a lot like an old ones song.

[GOTTA GIVE HER THAT.]

I don't see why they'd complain about fixing it up a little. But I won't stop you from saying you're a poor boy, if that's what you prefer.
despitethenora: (fuck.)

Sweet cheeks?

[She’s mumbling the term, squinting at the air. Like someone calling her flame-hair, maybe. Is she having another bout with her face being flushed? (Probably. Oh that rosacea.)

Well, she’s seen finger guns before, so Aloy offers one back to Elphelt.]

How about I call you by your name? Which is. . .?

[ It's exactly at the time when one thinks they've seen everything that life decides to throw them a curveball they could never see coming. In this particular case, Ragna was quite certain there's nothing that could possibly surprise him anymore, at least until he stumbled upon what seems like a person stuck in the wall. That... shouldn't be possible outside of cartoons. Is that a burglary gone wrong? A new form of sentencing? Or... ]

... Do you have any idea how this looks?

[ This isn't that sort of jamjar, El!! ]
rebellions: yeah. sure. why the hell not. (the fuck is that)

[personal profile] rebellions 2025-06-09 08:38 pm (UTC)(link)
[ Stop, there's only so much second-hand embarrassment he can handle. Ragna lets out a long-suffering sigh, as if this whole situation is causing him some great inconvenience. But for what it's worth, he doesn't continue with the shit-talking, and instead chooses to help. ]

... Hold on, I'll get you out. [ A beat. ] Don't blame me if you get hit by a brick, though.

[ The man places his right hand on the wall, a little above where the girl got stuck. Sending just the tiniest jolt of the Grimoire's power into the building, he causes at least half of the wall in question to crack and immediately fall apart to pieces. That should be enough to free her, though whoever owns the place probably won't be happy about it. ]
