[Teyvat? Hmm, he can't recall anyone being from that place. Not that he asks every single Chosen where they come from, but it's definitely foreign to him. Nonetheless, Scott doesn't seem bothered at all.]
Yeah, pretty much. Earth's probably the most common, don't know why that's the case. [He lifts his shoulders in a half-shrug. ] But you aren't alone either. There's other people from other planets as well.
[Mostly Vi, Caitlyn. Others that are long gone now.] I'm Scott, by the way. Scott Summers.
[ The casual talk of other worlds should probably be a little more jarring to her, but it's merely a confirmation of things she's heard whispers of for years. To think that the shadowy truths of the universe could be laid out so easily before her now.
Arlecchino dips her head slightly in response to the self-introduction. Manners do deserve manners. ]
I am The Knave. A pleasure, even if our meeting was not... wholly intentional.
[ Or really intentional at all. But going back to the circumstances of their meeting... ]
Might I take it that you are some manner of student or scholar?
[The Knave? Huh, so she's going by a title? Well, okay, he can work with that. Not too much different than calling Xavier 'The Professor,' although he still doesn't want to think about that too much. Those hallucinations. The crime on his parchment.
So, Scott goes along with her introduction with a nod, still following closely next to her.]
Just a student. Technically still in high school, just sort of attend a special school for people like me. [And because he doesn't think he should hide-- not to mention that no one has reacted poorly to him yet in this world.] I'm a mutant.
[He's completely unbothered by the question. Honestly, he'd be more surprised if she did know what mutants were, especially if they're going by the definition that he and the others use here. He's pretty sure Miller mentioned that mutants from his version of Earth are a lot different.]
For me and my friends here? It's mostly referring to the fact that we have something known as the X-Gene in our DNA. [That's the basics at least. All complicated questions can be directed to... anyone not him.] And it gives us powers. You can make one educated guess how my powers manifest.
[Especially with tensions rising back home and how shitty mutant-human relations are in those other universes, he knows that he's fortunate Alex brought him there before anyone or anything else could get to him. What if that asshole military guy got to him? He wonders if there's a bunch of mutants even back in his world that are struggling really hard and don't know about Xavier's Institute?
...Probably.
With a slightly more serious demeanor, he glances up at Arlecchino-- his gaze now focused on the unusual part of her own eyes.]
So, do you have something going on with your eyes too?
"Something," certainly. So long as you continue to be a well-meaning young man, you won't have to find out what it is.
[ A husky dip, a glancing threat. She'd probably enjoy real Halloween. As is, she just hands out little off-season spooks for free. She eases up immediately. ]
Ah, perhaps I should invest in eyewear such as yours. Then I might look less unusual and more... "cool," yes?
[Well, that's not ominous at all. Scott tilts his head slightly over at her, as if trying to determine if she was being fully serious about that or not. Uh, hard to tell. Right, well, he's not in the business of pissing off people, not in these sort of situations, though he is curious about what her powers may be. That's the main thing he's interested in. It's not like he meets a lot of people that have eye powers like him.
Unfortunately, she doesn't seem like she's willing to talk about it now.]
Yeah, you'll look totally cool. [He responds, almost blandly.] Just like me. Though, I imagine you don't have to get lenses that are made of ruby quartz.

He speaks of being a mutant as if it's a normal term for humans. Clearly, there's history there. ]
It seems I'll have to pose yet another pesky question. What does it mean to be a mutant?

Your eyes, I take it?
[ Highly relatable, actually. Arlecchino's calm tone doesn't change, but what follows is a rare expression of sincerity. ]
I'm glad you had a proper environment in which to learn with your peers. Not all children who stand out as unusual are so fortunate.
