[Sylvain mouths it as Miller says it: the most stupid way imaginable. Just stares at him in...resigned horror? Not the terror of being in a strange situation, nor the fright of having his free will stripped from him, so much as the horror of realizing how dumb things could be-
He somehow ended up in a place in which he can have his free will stripped from him using (of all things) delicious chocolate eggs, eggs which were so good that honestly he's still of the opinion that things can be worse. (That's what 5 years of turnips etc al can do to a guy.) Whatever. It's fine.]
Yeah? [War.] Kinda wish I wouldn't, won't lie, I wouldn't wish a war on anyone.
[ Oh, yeah. He gets that. It's pretty dumb. Some of the worst things to happen to him here have happened as a result of a dumb mistake like this. The least he can do is give a proper warning.
Miller looks forward, his expression remaining flat. ]
Yes, well, if wishes were enough to change anything, I doubt any of us would be. It's not exactly the most ideal time to make a sudden exit.
[ Sylvain seems young though. Maybe he's already thinking of this as a respite. ]
[You know what? The thing is, if you act like you know what you're doing, and if you act like you're into whatever's going on, and if you act like everything's fine, very few people have a tendency to ask, "Hey, you okay?" They just assume you're okay. Because why wouldn't you be okay.
Case in point: Miller says that, and Sylvain tenses for a moment. Just a second, a flinch that someone who wasn't right next to him wouldn't notice but Miller probably would.]
Yeah.
[And he says that a bit quickly. But then, back on goes the smile, nothing happened there.] Hey, is it bad I kinda wish I could surprise my friends with a few eggs? [You know.] Just give them out, see what happens...
[ It's hard not to notice when you're tethered at the wrist. Every small movement is really amplified even for the unobservant. Noticing and choosing to call it out by name are two entirely different things, however. Miller turns his head back to look at Sylvain and the silent look speaks for itself. Inquisitive, but actively making the decision not to ask.
Instead he goes along with the topic shift, his free arm coming up in a half-hearted shrug. ]
I thought you were new here. Did you already make friends you wish to torture so badly?
Nah, I mean find a fast courier, ship them back home, surprise the people I know with them. Like one guy I know? He's kind of been having a rough time. [A Shakesperian Hamlet-style breakdown, but Miller doesn't need to know that.] Been keeping to himself, so something like this might force him to talk a few things out with a few other friends of mine.
[...
Or to put it another way: yes, he does have friends he wants to torture this badly, they're just not here.]
You can't say you don't know somebody who you wouldn't want to surprise with a cursed egg- you just can't.
[ Old man. Oh, here we go again. The look of annoyance that spreads across his face is, however, not an excitable one. It's resigned, and quickly loses its edge as he realizes this man is still divorced from the complete reality that he's in now. He shrugs, carelessly lifting the arm at which they're attached in the gesture. ]
That really depends on having some idea of what the curse is going to be.
[ Listen, they've had a lot worse than 'be tied to this person for a while.' ]
Though if you were able to find some way to make contact with your friends back home, I'm sorry to tell you that you'd be the first. Whether or not you consider it fortunate, sometimes people that we know come to join us here... or they were already here before we arrived. But we have no choice in the matter.
[As there's no good way of admitting that the word "friend" is doing a lot of heavy lifting at the moment, feelings are complicated, perhaps he might want to beat some of these friends to a fucking pulp with the flat side of a large oar while screaming in fucking rage, he just...
Happily glosses over it. Doesn't matter, don't worry about it, nothing to be seen here. ;) ;) ;), moving right along.]

[He can banter, too, but after a moment-]
