[ it's a nice sunny day outside the scalper's tent Rumpitur vendor stalls. the only warning before the smoke bombs go off is the gentle roll of a hand-sized brown sack and a puff of air. there's nothing harmful in it, as pissed as she might be at these vendors. it's nothing more than a smoke screen.
it happens one lane of vendors at a time in quick succession, and the eagle-eyed might be able to catch a glimpse of Ellie weaving her way through stalls, crouched and hiding as she goes.
then it's time to start ransacking the place amid the panic and confusion. she's got a bag with her, another tucked into her waistband, but she's stuffing anything she can get into her pockets as well. if she spots a chosen, she'll push a bag into their hands as well. the focus is clearly food, but she won't stop anyone from snatching anything else. ]
Come on. These assholes should know better. Grab whatever you can get.
[ Sue him for being a curious and, mostly, nosey little demon bastard. Hiei's spent most of his day stealing bits and bobs as he pleases, too quick to be spotted by most eyes in Rumpitur and beyond. He does spot Ellie skulking about, though in his own way, he finds the other thefts going on more amusing than anything to be avenged.
He's curious to see just how much she ends up getting away with if he's honest. They've chatted before, and far be it for Hiei to suddenly start pretending to be a pillar of the community or anything.
In fact - as she offers him the bag Hiei waves her off. ]
Give me as much as you've already gotten. [ Cooly, but before she has a chance to think he's robbing her - ]
I can be out of town and back to Aldrip in a few minutes, and you will be unburdened. Our group has a large place where this can be stored before distribution.
[ Another pause, as if he's reminding himself on lessons about negotiations or something. ]
- At your discretion, and if you're willing to split it at all.
Fuck yeah. The more we can get out of here for everyone, the better.
[ she hasn't been given reason to think he's tricking her, so Ellie grins, nodding. she hurries to fill the bag she's holding before passing it to him. ]
I've got more smoke bombs to put down if we need it.
Exactly. [ and if the naga didn’t want to be robbed, they shouldn’t have acted like thieves originally so far as Hiei is concerned. The little demon will take as many bags as she has to offer, red eyes scanning the room quickly before returning to Ellie. ]
You won’t need them for me. Keep them for yourself and others who may be inclined to help.
[ Hiei is just going to go John Cena mode once he’s off, it’s fine. ]
[ for someone used to scavenging in every nook and cranny like Ellie, having so much stuff laying out means there's so much stuff to grab she actually struggles to keep up with it.
she's already got more ready for him when he's back, ducked under a table to hide from a passing Rumpitoran (?). ]
[ Hiei's better than human senses are a help in this. Ellie may not have spirit energy to sense, but he can still smell her, appearing in a flash before he quietly ducks down to join her, the previous bags he's taken back and emptied passed back.
There's actually an amused little smirk playing across his face as he looks around. ]
It's easy as shit when they're as unaware as this. The way I see it, pissing them off's worth it if everyone doesn't get hungry enough to turn on each other.
If they do it will make for good entertainment. [ Says the demon, of course, but Hiei will never not be that guy. But the world he was raised in was particularly vicious, literal dog eat dog, and so the possibility of recurrence here does not even make him blink. ]
Do you have more for me to take back to Aldrip? Or is that pending?
Yes. [ That affirmation comes without hesitation, though now he is really curious about what she will ask next. He's deep enough in this little crime spree that he might as well see it through as best he can.
Unless she is asking him to heft an entire building, most goals are absolutely doable when it comes to demonic strength. ]
[ Hiei turns, taking a moment to do some math. He could pick up multiple in one go without a problem, but.. if anything odd should happen he is down both hands.
On another brain cell he debates asking what is in them before realizing it doesn't really matter if they're stealing to redistribute at the moment. ]
How many is some? I'll base how many I pick up on how many trips I want to make.
