[He can tell when their entire surroundings shift in color and hue to nearly match the red that he always sees. It honestly makes it hard for him to see anything, since now everything matches his ruby quartz, which only makes the two forms on the ground an even stronger point of focus. They're the only ones not blurred and now Scott can't help but pay even closer attention to those marks on Yu's throat.
Along with Mikey's confesion.
Without even really thinking about it, Scott steps closer to him. He's barely even aware of anything else, just focused on his friends. He's pained, upset, and almost every part of him wants to lash out at Mikey, but control. Don't... don't lash out at least, even if this time would probably be warranted. Mikey's defeated and quiet posture stems some of that anger, but it doesn't disappear. It's not his fault--]
This is a bit tougher when it comes to catching someone with super-speed off-guard - but I'll try my best!
[He grins and puts a hand on Levi before trying another teleport. He teleports right into Quicksilver's path, but the white-haired boy veers into a different direction as soon as they appear.]
Hiei isn’t really in the habit of using his more world-breaking abilities in the human world, and despite the barrier confusing him.. hadn’t considered that this wasn’t their reality until the moment Kuwabara so effortlessly summoned his sword. The fire demon doesn’t exactly expect sparkling effort out of Kuwabara - more because of his own preconceived notions than anything else - but this incident raises his hackles a little bit.
But then he goes and says it isn’t real and Hiei’s first thought is, of course, to scoff. He is practically halfway through rolling his eyes, in fact, when the fire demon realizes his own folly. He may be correct after all, considering everything else that’s happened in this place.
Trapping him in human world was a certain kind of asshole behavior, but to allow someone else to release him so quickly…
In a moment he attempts to flare the Jagan to life, but the eye only gives a weak pulse before closing again. Just like it does when he’s -
Aside from curfews and class? Not bad. [Small pause.] ...It's the first place where I felt like I could finally belong somewhere.
[He's usually not this open and upfront with his feelings, especially not towards someone he just met. But something is compelling him to just be a little more honest, maybe it's just Yu's overall more quiet and almost distant demeanor. Not rude, but he kind of makes Scott sad just looking at him. What?? It's true, okay. It's a small reminder of how Kurt initially arrived, feeling out of place despite the school being for everyone.
A sudden trip to the mall may be in order. It worked before and hey, what better way to introduce a Japanese student to America than showing him an American mall? They of course have to do all the traditional things, like burgers and ICEEs and watching Star Wars.]
Regular ass people suck sometimes. [He adds, even as he stops before a certain door. Nothing really seems special about it, no markers or anything, but it's going to be their room.] ...So, it's a good thing you're going to be rooming with me.
“If they are, I doubt there will be the show they are hoping for.” After all, the beasts that this place had so far hadn’t been much of a challenge for the fire apparition. In some ways Aldrip is very lucky he no longer kills as a way to simply entertain himself anymore, considering the damage he could’ve gotten up to already if it had so suited him.
His eyes find nothing, of course, no matter how many times he slowly or quickly scans the area around them for anything perhaps looking for some kind of fight. It’s.. unnerving to him, actually. In a way that he cannot place.
He attempts to make the Jagan fire to life, forehead glowing purple but.. strangely… only showing a blurry vision of.. a tree? Leaves and branches and nowhere near what he is currently looking at just for regular vision. The fire apparition stops for a moment, confused, looking around them again.
“Is this a dream?” Would explain a lot of things, considering most of his dreams are recurring nightmares.
I. It's fine. I don't know what you mean. Alex is here, I think you were just imagining things.
[Has Scott ever been this dismissive of Kurt before? Probably not, but it's clear the mutant is stubborn, refusing to acknowledge what just happened. Alex, while still visible, is strangely not saying anything, just stuck in a perpetual smile as he looks at the two teenagers. Scott looks at him briefly, face unreadable, before turning away again.]
Whoa, you're from Cali? Totally cool! I'd love to go there someday. You'll have to tell me what it's like! ...But yeah first let me help you with the ways of the high school dance!
[It's a good thing Scott has some level of self-control, otherwise he would be shouting and maybe causing a little bit of a scene when Czeslaw cuts deep into his palm. Dude, did he really need to go that far?! Surely a small cut would've sufficed! He can't entirely stop his jaw from loosening, hanging slightly and just about ready to step forward to help with the bleeding, but he stops himself as he watches the kid's blood sink back into his palm before abruptly closing.
Like none of that just happened.
It's one thing to heal from an injury, it's another thing for his blood to return to his body. Whoa. That's...]
Wow...
[He breathes out, somewhat impressed, sunglasses still staring at his entirely healed palm. The X-Gene really is something, huh?] That's a really cool power. [...] Did it hurt at all?
[When that tiny fop labels him old a streak of light flashes right past his head. The window behind him shatters as this "old man" makes his stance plain.]
Listen up, you little shit— [He steps forward, cracking his knuckles.] I don't care what you're doing here.
Hell, I don't even care if you accidentally blow yourself up.
[His approach is deliberate and methodical, almost as if he wants to frustrate the bastard into pressing the button.]
You could kill everyone here and I wouldn't give a shit. Do you know why?
[He comes to a stop just in front of him and leans forward with a grin.]
Because I am fuckin' immortal, you little raggedy bitch.
[More like, this is a "dream," and he doubts he would die from the blast. It might hurt but he certainly won't die. Besides, it's clear that this person is still alive in this day and age, which means he probably doesn't press the button.
It's a gamble. A gamble Rosen is willing to take.]
[Or at least, just like Club Escapade, though probably without the Shadow that had taken up residence in the cables underground. His description is vague enough that she still doesn't really think he's actually been to a club before, but she'll let him cling to whatever scraps of pride he has and only give him another playfully teasing smile.]
You're on your own if you want to buy any drinks, though.
[The classrooms are pretty generic, and at this point in her own tour, she'd kind of been leading Junpei as she wandered around. Scott seems content to follow her lead, though, so she keeps walking, heading up the stairs to the top floor of classrooms. There's no real reason to take him up here except for a vague sense that she wants to, something she feels more than consciously understands.]
...Want to see my favorite place in the school?
[Her voice and smile stay as light and playful as they've been this whole time, but there's a different set to her eyes, something almost wistful when she asks that question.]
Like Helel! Oh, but you'll need an Evoker to summon them, so... [she glances at the gun holstered at her side, then just shrugs to dismiss that minor inconvenience.] Yeah, you'll have to talk to Mitsuru-senpai or Akihiko-senpai about that.
[Exposition? Again, not for her as she moves around him and starts heading toward where she'd scouted some stairs earlier. His question makes her tilt her head a bit, because how'd he end up so far up if he hadn't at least seen the lack of stairs back down...? But then again, when Fuuka had been trapped, she hadn't been able to easily move between floors, either.]
Yeah. Once you go to a new floor, something weird happens to the stairs and you can't go back down that way. If there's a teleporter on the next floor, we can take that!
[Another tilt of her head, and then she finally asks a question she maybe should have asked first:] What's your name, anyway? I'm Shiomi. Kotone Shiomi!
[Honestly, he was half-expecting Hiei to just flat out deny that he even likes Kurama. Scott, of course, would point out how untrue that statement is, because he has facts and evidence to back him up!! But no, he's just straight out admitting that he likes the other demon, in his own way. Really, he's going that extra step by saying that Kurama is his partner and Scott's pretty sure that he's heard Yu address Yosuke that way and vice versa and they're dating.
So. This is confirmation??
It almost feels too easy, because since when Hiei even admitted to having friends? Maybe it's just special with Kurama. He's either giving Hiei too much credit or not enough and there's only one real way to find out.]
So you're admitting that you two are together. Dating. [Does he need to add other descriptions?]
[Totally helpless, this one. He really doesn't know much about the new student, but he's still been pretty cool to hang out with. He's already pretty popular with a lot of the students too, especially the girls, something that gets Scott to roll his eyes about. Maybe he should get one of them to make a map for Ryoji, but whatever.
Something in the air is still tense though, that nothing can last forever. It's such a grim feeling, Scott shifting on the ground and doing his best to ignore it. He's not sure why that it won't go away.]
I'm charging you extra for that. [What does that mean?! Probably something like Scott stealing an extra snack from Ryoji.] And hey, I'm just helping the poor lost souls around school.
[ did xavier enjoy tea? she remembers the man brewing coffee every morning like the rest of her x-men (except for jubes, she wasn't much of a java head), but tea would be something different. rogue halts in their stroll, her muscles tensing in her forearms as she builds strength in her voice. ]
Scott, Honey. I can't keep taggin' along like this is normal. It's dang near killin' me, and I'll be hatin' myself later if I drag this on longer than it needs to.
[ she looks for signs of evidence to demonstrate how this whole thing is an illusion, but... so far, she's coming up empty. ]
Ah. [Instead of looking concerned or worried or anything, Miu just nods] Was that all?
[How many times has she felt death? She picks the gun up, points it to her head, and takes a breath before she pulls the trigger. The burst of light takes her more by surprise than anything, staring quietly as a feminine figure draped in a white robe appears. In her hands is a giant mirror.
She disappears not too long after, leaving Miu with a pensive look on her face] 'Echo,' huh... Jeez. It's not as flashy as yours' was. [She reaches up to touch her head, half-expecting to find a hole there] So weird...
Morrigan sighs deeply, waving a hand. The area wavers and then disappears, replaced with an expanse of just...green, in every direction. Somewhere in the distance, a pitch-black city.
"Tis not too unfamiliar. The Fade can play such tricks as well. As a mage, however, I should not have fallen for it so easily. I suppose we are lucky no demons were involved here." She pauses and gives him an amused look.
"Unless you are one yourself, I suppose?" She doesn't think so, though, and sighs. "When I find the one behind all of this, I believe I will take great pleasure in making them pay for all this."
She looks down at herself and waves her hand to transform herself from her younger self from the memory, to her current age.
[The unlucky thing is that Jean isn't among the mutants that got dropped into the hellish pit, not the real one or her clone. The ones that are count among most of the team, though, and they're all still focusing on the fight against the flying demons.
Morph is far more agile in this form, turning to slash through another demon before bounding forward to jab a blade into one demon's neck. The odd thing about it is that the corpses aren't piling up - they seem to disappear as soon as you turn your attention away, making the unreality of the situation more apparent.]
That's easier said than done, she's a powerful telepath! We're lucky she's tormenting us instead of outright frying her brains. That clone might be less skilled than the original, but she has a lot of raw talent at her disposal.
[Maybe Scott shouldn't be so judgmental since he has no idea where Bohemia is, but he's still giving Levi a weird look. He doesn't think he's joking, which is somehow worse.] Where do you think you're at now?
Me? Mm but it's your creation, right? I mean we are in your dream after all...
[ A frown as he kneels down and gives the mouse's head a light pat. It kinda feels like cheese which is definitely offputting but, well, this is a weird place so anything can happen. ]
Shred?! Like...oh, shredded cheese? [ He's not even trying at this point. ]
But this is unexpected so that's always fun right? I think a mouse made out of cheese is definitely better than shredded cheese. [ Shigeru will pick up the house cat-sized mouse and hold it in his arms as it squeaks happily. ]
Maybe Gus, or Jaq, or Cheddar?? Which one do you like? Or you make up your own? I think it would like whatever you call it. [ Have a stupid smile directed right at you Octavian. ]
[Scott's mouth parts to argue, but he promptly closes it. For whatever reason, new kid really seems attached to that raggedly looking coat and it's probably not worth the effort trying to get him to discard it. As long as it doesn't smell, whatever. If Professor Xavier really frowns upon it, then he can deal with it. So, the mutant shrugs, just accepting Akutagawa's demand for now.]
Still getting you shoes man, you don't wanna walk around here barefoot.
[Another trip to the mall may be in order! They can just borrow the Professor's money again, it's fine. Good cause. Even if the other teen ends up glaring at everyone, Scott will handle it. Although before any trip... maybe it's time to get some food in his stomach.]
But first, food. I bet a student heard that noise from across the school. [He motions for him to follow, Scott turning around to lead him to the kitchen. Yeah, maybe it's not being the best tour guide, but food is important!!]
[ oh. the quiet sound of his laughter, the way his shoulders shake slightly with it — viktor freezes, or maybe the entirety of mars freezes around them instead, leaving nothing but him, head turning even though he knows he can't actually properly look at octavian like this, wishing he could see him, could make sure this quiet sound is forever embedded in his heart.
it buoys him, makes the smile audible in his voice as he says, ] Of course I walked in. Those in Piltover could never have imagined that a Zaunite could simply walk among them like that, or be smart enough to be there. Even though none of them were worth even a thought.
[ at least until that fateful trial. and he doesn't begrudge the professor; that viktor didn't get thrown out of there immediately is still a minor miracle, and being there to help heimerdinger did make it possible for him to talk to him, to learn from him, to have official, sanctioned access to the academy and its facilities.
and yet.
still, the question about his parents makes that slight edge of nostalgia seep right back in. ]
They knew. My mother thought it was a brilliant plan. My father thought I would be caught within the month. But they were both supportive. They knew that was the only real chance I had.
[ and he doesn't know if he has wasted it; and anyway, they both died soon after and didn't live long enough to even see him become the dean's assistant, let alone one of the minds behind hextech.
both of these things go right into that someday pile. ]
