[ A relief honestly, getting something to eat sounds simple and uncomplicated enough to be getting on with and definitely qualifies as a date activity without being too intense. ]
I've not attended an event like this before - I'm not sure what is on offer but I'm sure we'll find something. Perhaps something with pumpkin given the theme...
Yes. Although I believe the original jack o' lanterns were made from turnips... which is odd to think about.
[ Excuse her, sometimes she's prone to random thought tangents like this. ]
I'm not sure I have either, not this variety at least. Perhaps we should try this pumpkin pie dish I always hear about if we happen to come across some?
I believe I saw something called a funnel cake that intrigued me also.
Definitely. I've been here almost a year now and this place has almost always leaned more Western with its food and its traditions, with a few exceptions.
We can definitely try the cuisine together.
[ Evidently this... winged person- Mitsuru isn't sure if she's human or not but has no intention of asking something so abrupt - isn't from the West either? Perhaps? ]
...It occurs to me that I never introduced myself before asking you on this date so abruptly. Please forgive my lack of manners. My name is Mitsuru Kirijo.
[ That small, polite bow is reciprocated with a smile. Manners go a long way with her. ]
You're new to Aldrip, aren't you? I asked you on this "date" so please allow me to treat you.
...I hope you have a sweet tooth. [ Seeing as everything on offer seems to mostly be sugary to some degree or another. Including those funnel cakes she mentioned, the stall for which she approaches with a curious expression, beckoning her companion to follow with a smile. ]
Not at all. I'm sure your arrival was a jarring one if previous experiences with this place are anything to go by. Someone ought to give you a pleasant welcome at least.
[ With that, she's going to at least try to give the impression that she's totally the type of person used to ordering food from a stall and not someone more at home in a fancy restaurant... With mixed success. Being handed two funnel cakes with nothing but a napkin each to hold them both in and no sign of any plate whatsoever is still something she finds odd for a dessert like this but she's adapting, gradually. She holds one out to her companion. ]
Here.
How was your arrival? I found myself wandering around in the forest hearing voices, hardly welcoming...
[ Though there's a tentative touch while Mitsuru goes through the motions, Koharu doesn't think much of it. She accepts the funnel cake gladly, all too eager to bite down onto something sweet. ]
Umm... [ As for that. ] I, uh—there weren't any voices, thankfully, but I got stuck in a cage that was tied really high up.
[ She's pleasantly surprised by the funnel cake as she takes a bite herself, finding the texture not too dissimilar to some of the donuts she had tried since being here.
First mouthful finished and her eyes widen slightly at the mention of a cage. She's not sure which is worse honestly. ]
Forgive me for asking this but your wings... they aren't functional in that way then? For flight?
[ So that she can fly down from a height like that at least? ]
[ While Mitsuru isn't the first to ask, Koharu still grows a sheepish air about her. Not that it's an unexpected question; she'd wonder the same if the roles were reserved. ]
Oh, no, I should be able to, I just... haven't learned how to fly yet, that's all.
no subject
I could use a bite to eat, yes!
[ She hasn't thought about food all day, and now that it's come up, Koharu could really use for some. ]
And luckily, eating together is one of the most popular date ideas, so I'd say you've chosen just right.

[ Or something like it. Strange to think about, when last Koharu recalls, it was early April. ]
I'm not sure if I've ever eaten pumpkin before... I was expecting a lot of the usual street fair food.

Huh...
[ After giving this a brief thought, Koharu nods her head. ]
The food here is very—western, isn't it? Either of those would be new to me, too... But that just means we can try them together.

My name's Koharu. It's nice to meet you, Mitsuru!

[ It's very kind, especially for a stranger. Koharu easily falls in a step behind Mitsuru as they head off. ]
But you're right, I've only recently– [ Uh, woken up? Came to? ] –arrived in this town, so I'm still getting used to everything.
