I didn't have any particularly strong feelings about most of them in terms of "favorite". Frankly, I find people -- especially crowds -- to be exhausting.
I suppose the pastry stand was fine. I had a cookie.
[ vincent .... he's finding out so much about you. ]
Haha, it can be a bit exhausting, I agree ... [ it's strange on another aspect too, for vash; to be able to be around people like this without worrying over whether he'd be recognised and hunted. ]
But I think it's a nice change, don't you think? Sometimes being around people can be nice. There's always something different to look at!
[ oh no, desert talk. if it were even at all possible, vash's smile takes on another added layer of brightness. ] Pastry stand?? I didn't see it! Can you show me where?? Let's go!!!!!
But you deal with me, right? [ GRITTING HIS TEETH........... ]
[ absolutely not noticing the irony of that remark, vash goes on: ] And Sephiroth too! See, you say you hate crowds so much, but you still took the effort to make sure it's safe for him!
[ also, that's not even leaving the table as a possibility. ] Haha, show me first and then we can decide! Maybe there's cake!
[hey he doesn't even really need an honesty curse or whatever to even admit that, amazing]
...For Sephiroth, there is very little I wouldn't do. There is too much in his life he has been denied, and I would see him step into a world outside of the role forced upon him.
[Okay, that'd been a bit much, but alas.
Vincent lets out a sigh and gives Vash a bit more of a scowl.]
[ that's okay, vash is used to being shunned ... but vincent is still here and hasn't yeeted himself out of his presence, so that's all he can hope for, acerbic remarks or not! ]
He seems like a good kid.
[ that's an understatement, but for once he will keep his thoughts to himself. ]
Do you like cake? What kind is your favourite? We should definitely go get some then! I've only had ... [ his singular birthday cake .... ]
... Actually, I can't remember what it was, but it was delicious!
...He is. He only wishes to lessen the burden of others.
[Well, Vash has won a brownie point; Vincent's tone is a touch more gentle at the subject of Sephiroth. The boy has come far, and Vincent can only hope to ensure that his future is brighter than Vincent's present.]
Apple spice or red velvet. I thought to get a slice since it was my birthday not long ago, but I haven't actually bothered to celebrate for quite sometime.
And what of it? To even contemplate doing anything is absurd.
[Vash does indeed manage to snag onto his cloak, and Vincent is just trying to jerk it from his grip.]
Absolutely not. Let go right now.
[There's a deep, growling reverberance in Vincent's throat, almost beastly sounding along with fangs forming in his mouth. The temper of the Galian Beast rises inside of him, tamed less these days from whatever influence of the Council and Jerry alike.
And thus Vincent's little patience for Vash is even thinner than usual.]
[ look at these two grown men tussling .... please. ]
But birthdays are important!
[ says someone who hasn't celebrated it in 149 years.
vincent growls, and the sound reverberates in his throat in a way that's decidedly nonhuman - it catches at his ears wrong, raising hairs at the back of his neck, and vash almost, almost slackens his grip, eyes wide behind the glasses as he stares at the other. ]
[It escalates quickly in his body, his head suddenly pounding and heal simmering under his skin. He feels his teeth too big in his mouth, too sharp now, and his pulse increases. Nearby lights flicker for a moment, then Vincent shakes his head violently.]
I need to leave.
[It's too dangerous to stay now, and Vincent will not risk the lives of others if he's that on edge. Not even Vash.
With a firm yank, he pulls his cape free before he's making a break for it BYE]

this

big
news. ]
....
[ vash stops dead in his tracks, for once not bounding around like some overactive bouncy ball let loose. ]
... Vincent.
It was your birthday?

Through gritted teeth, he says:] Yes. The 13th of October.
I'm leaving now. Good luck finding your pastries.
[TIME TO BAIL]

The thirteenth??? But that was just a bit ago!!!!
[ oh no you can't bail on him now!! flailing, vash will attempt to grab his elbow - or failing that, maybe his cloak. ]
You can't leave now! We have to go get you some cake!
