a boy and his bird
Who: Scott Summers and you
Where: Aldrip (and one network post)
What: Scott got a new skill upon waking up from the reset: summoning a medium sized fire bird. He's still adjusting to it. It will probably be fine.
Warnings: Nothing yet.
network; audio un: shades
Asking for a friend.
Has anyone else felt weird or anything after the reset? Like uh. Any new powers? Or anything? It's best if we note any changes. [Along with the fact that at least two people are gone after the reset...]
a; is this persona??
[The only real reason why he's not panicking more about this is honestly Kotone. She helped him a lot when he figured out that everything wasn't completely back to normal.
Well, that and the fact Phoenix doesn't really feel the same as like those other times when he glitched and stuff. All of that is still hard to really describe, because it's one thing to be another Scott, but also to be another Scott with some crazy cosmic entity in him. This on the other hand?? It feels more like a faint echo, like a reminder of what happened. Most of the time, he's okay, it's just that warmth is a constant presence now, inside him. Maybe it's best if she never comes out? But... is that okay? What, it's not like he's an expert on this kind of thing; he really can't even control the powers that he's supposed to have.
Scott stands around the park with a slightly frustrated face, still looking torn about stuff. What he should or shouldn't do, try to ignore Phoenix for as long as possible? It's not even supposed to with him (Rogue said Phoenix belongs with Jean), even if it's just a small fragment of what she actually is. How could he possibly control it??
Suddenly, however, Scott develops a look of concentration, shoving those thoughts and feelings to the back of his mind. There's a faint light that emits from him before a red bird appears by his side, her wings flapping before she lowers herself onto his shoulder. The mutant looks at her, not looking happy, but... he's trying.]
b; something something life and fire
[Well, what else to do but lie on the grass with a bird on your stomach? This is all part of the acceptance process... or whatever.
Scott finds himself staring up at the sky and doing the usual teenager stuff. You know, wondering about the meaning of life, pondering one's own existence. The good stuff. Probably nothing to write home about, but he seems a little more at peace with what's happening. He's still not sure if he prefers to have Phoenix out and about like this or not, but he'll just keep one hand pressed against the back of her neck as she continues to sit on him.
It's definitely all okay until someone comes close and Phoenix will start squawking (who said anything about this bird being dignified), the sound slightly embarrassing especially as she seems to cough up something and then a tiny fireball will expel from her mouth to shoot towards the newcomer. It will probably hurt a little if you get smacked, but it can also be easily dodged. Either way, Scott will immediately sit up with an apology already forming--]
Shit, sorry! Are you okay?

I’m saying I don’t need to. [ and if he did… there were ways. Between Kurama and Puu they could get themselves where they needed to go.
Thankfully they switch to the subject of the ruins, to which Hiei nods. Yes, unfortunately he had been in attendance at the ruins, though it does sort of fit in to things that included flying, considering the entire Fauna vs. Rogue and Morph fight. Not that he knew any of their names. ]
Yes. Some of your own were chasing after someone else trying to destroy the terminal. [ Hiei pauses for a moment, considering what to say, but then continues -]
A good thing for that idiot’s survival and my lack of sentencing.

[He's heard about it at this point. Maybe not every single detail, but enough. He's seen the injuries that Rogue sustained from that encounter. He wasn't too happy with the fox girl to say the least, but... they're working on it (possibly). She's not exactly his favorite person, but getting into fights with her isn't really something he wants to do in his spare time.
A part of him wants to ask why Hiei didn't get involved, but. Sounds like it's best that he didn't. Even if Scott personally thinks that the demon isn't nearly as scary as he thinks he is, he's still pretty sure he'd stab someone in a situation like this.]
...I'm glad that you didn't kill her.

Oh. So that's Rogue. [ He's chatted with her once or twice, and she somehow hasn't come to try and smash his head in for all of his ignorant demonic bullshit, but he of course is not going to really bring that up right now. He hadn't had time to watch the fight, either, which had been a shame looking back. It isn't very often that Hiei doesn't stop to watch and see a little battle or, if he's lucky, some gore.
No, he's instead caught by Scott's next comment about not killing Fauna, red eyes rolling as the sentence leaves his mouth.
Of course he wouldn't want him to kill anyone - ]
Soft as always. What difference would it make to you if I did or did not?
no subject
[Probably wasn't Morph or Fauna! Honestly, Scott doesn't know what she's saying sometimes. He generally gets the gist, but sometimes he just pretends and nods along. It usually works out anyway. He's not about to ask Rogue to repeat herself or explain what she means by something.
But they're talking about him being soft and he... isn't going to refute that, especially if they're going by Hiei's definition. However Scott isn't just going to let it be either.]
I prefer it when my friends don't kill others, even if they are in the way or whatever.

I had to focus on the terminal business, as much as I wanted to watch. [ He's curious about what mutants are capable of, to say the very least. Unfortunately, other matters had been more pressing, and his very good hearing had to be used to listen to Kurama's walk through on how to reset the terminal, or what else may be required instead of catching any catch phrases.
It was all very lame to say the least.
Predictably the demon looks annoyed to be called a friend again, though he doesn't reiterate the fact that they aren't friends, he swears - ]
Don't concern yourself with my business. I certainly don't pay attention to yours.
[ Unless he stumbles on him in the woods as Hiei is so used to doing. ]

[It's clear that he doesn't fully believe him. Okay, maybe the demon doesn't like go out of his way to check on him, but that matters little. Whenever they do bump into each other... Hiei has always been supportive in his own way. The aftermath of the Phoenix stuff comes to mind, probably because said bird is still in his arms and looking at the fire demon with her own knowing look. She's certainly adopted some characteristics of the mutant she's attached to now.
She starts flapping in Scott's grip and he instinctively releases her, letting Phoenix to flap close to Hiei and if he allows it, she'll land right on his shoulder. Nice short perch.]

That is not what I'm saying and you know it. [ They can know one another, and acknowledge each other when they spot each other outside, but acknowledging each other's business can stay separate so far as he's concerned. Maybe that is a purely demonic way of thinking of things, now that he thinks about it... He and Kurama have always been the ones who are best at the 'it's passed' mentality of it all.
Keeping things incredibly sectioned off in their lives is, apparently, a more demonic than anything priority.
The fire demon watches as phoenix moves, but seems non-plussed by her decision to roost on his shoulder. He's never had an issue with animals, though birds tend to be more Yukina's thing. ]
Maybe that's another thing humans can't grasp, though. Keeping their noses in their own business.

Maybe if Hiei really pushed things, truly threatened him and stuff, he'd finally leave the demon alone. Things aren't like that though and Scott has enough trust to think it won't be like that, so he continues with that same confidence, one that's just a little open because Hiei has become a strange friend despite everything. Weird how things sometimes turn out, but he's been here for over a year now. Call him an expert at these sort of things.
Not to mention it sounds like the demon is conceding in his own way.]
Yeah, we're nosy assholes aren't we? Can't look away when shit's going down.
