knocking at the door [open]
Who: Morph and you!
Where: The newly-spawned X-Mansion
What: Both closed and open prompts taking place in the X-Mansion this month! Feel free to use this space for your own closed threads in the mansion, just make sure to note that in the subject line.
Warnings: Nothing yet
A. DISCOVERY - CLOSED TO ROGUE, BACKDATED TO OCT 5TH
[Morph was in Archangel's winged form, on the search for the missing Peter by air, taking advantage of the good eyesight that came along with it to check out alleys and rooftops. That was when they first spotted it - something new just outside of Aldrip, a large building that looked achingly familiar the closer they came to it. It nagged at them, enough that once they finished checking that part of the city, Morph only briefly landed on a rooftop before winging it in that direction.
What they saw nearly made them forget to flap their wings. The mansion was unmistakable, looking for all the world like a someone had scooped it up and dropped it there. Morph circled around it once, then landed in the front yard, staring up at the building in sheer disbelief as they shifted back to their regular form. The last time they had seen the mansion, it was a demolished, scorched ruin. Morph had shared a beer with Logan right there on the lawn while waiting for the fires to die down. But this mansion wasn't damaged in the slightest - it could've come from the day before the Prime Sentinels attacked, or any of the more peaceful days before that point.
After a long moment, they finally fish out their tablet to write a quick text to Rogue.]
B. OPEN HOUSE
[After the announcement made on the network, the mansion's been left open for the Chosen to wander into. For anyone interested a bright yellow sign has been posted with an arrow pointing towards the elevator, and another sign inside the elevator letting guests know which floor will leave them outside the Danger Room.
The rest of the mansion's doors are unlocked, left open for anyone to wander around as they wish. There's a few locations that might be of interest, including a pool and a basketball court outside. The first floor has a sizeable library and a living room with a big-screen CRT and a VCR, along with a shelf full of VHS tapes. The second basement, above the one containing the Danger Room, has its own gym and locker rooms, along with some laboratory space that's going unused.
The only places that are semi off-limits are the office on the first floor and the bedrooms on the second floor. Start rifling around in either area and chances are that one of the new residents will find you doing it, unless they're sufficiently distracted elsewhere. The mansion will also get locked back up around 10 PM each night, so no late night visits unless you ask about it!]
C. WILDCARD
[Morph can be found pretty much anywhere on the mansion grounds if you need to talk to them!]

hey, leave the city and fly southeast, right now.
no one's dying but you NEED to see this.

[That's so cool-- except for the fact that Morph just mentioned that the garage isn't here, thus, no sports cars. And. What the hell?? They get the Danger Room and everything, but no neat cars for Scott to steal-- borrow?? What kind of tradeoff is that?! Yeah, get the stuff that beats them up, but not the stuff that's fun. Wow.
He's definitely not pouting by the time they venture into the kitchen, because he wants a fancy car. :(]
So. This is where you and Rogue share meals at. [The pouting has stopped (mostly), allowing Scott to look around at the kitchen and take everything in. He tries to imagine himself living and eating here in the future, with the other X-Men-- the other mutants. It's definitely different from his life with his parents or even his life here, and Scott shoves his hands in his pockets as he tries to get used to that feeling.
It's not bad, just different. Maybe it'd be easier if he actually lived it. He was only at the mansion back home for three days after all.]
I'll join you guys sometime for dinner, bring the others with me. [Have a meal with all the mutants here. Could be nice.] If... if that's cool with you.

[It helped that the adult Scott was a very good driver, whether it was a plane or a car, so he could be trusted with expensive toys like that. It made Morph a little nostalgic for the times that Logan would steal the keys to one just so the two of them could show up at the bar with a flashy ride. Well, and the other half of it was just to annoy Cyke, but it had been a lot of fun.
They lean back against the kitchen island with their arms loosely crossed, offering Scott a smile.]
That sounds great to me. You know how Rogue likes to cook, she'd be thrilled to have guests over sometime. And maybe I'll get a chance to help with the cooking this time, too.
[Granted, Morph's usual idea of making a meal was to throw together things that could be in one big dish to make it as easy as possible, but when you're feeding a lot of people that usually turned out okay.]

[He honestly didn't know that little tidbit of information about his other self, but if there's one thing that he doesn't mind having in common with him, it's definitely that. It'd be better if Scott could just personally benefit from it, like said cars actually being here, but this sort of thing is at least something to possibly look forward to in the future. Like other than possibly leading the X-Men, becoming Cyclops, and having all of those responsibilities, at least he gets cool cars??
...There better be motorcycles too.
But Morph's answer brings out a small smile from him, already looking a little more comfortable. Yeah, sure, he sort of took leadership back before the reset, but he knows that he has a long way to go in many aspects. This seems like a good step at least and he's not going to turn away free food, that's for sure. With a small hum, Scott sits on a nearby counter, his hands coming up to form a square, like he's trying to take a picture. He points it around before centering it on Morph.]
So, you're saying that you don't blow up the kitchen when you cook.

[Morph asks it with a little smirk, because c'mon, did Scott really have permission to drive anything the Professor owned? Then again, borrowing cars without asking was something of a pastime in the mansion. Logan was usually the biggest culprit for taking Cyke's cars without asking, and seemed to do it solely to annoy him, but it's not a surprise to hear that Scott might've indulged in that one too.
And lucky for him, Morph's not the type to scold someone for sitting on the counter. Instead, they make a face at him before saying,]
Of course I don't! I might've not known how to cook when I got here, but I learned from the best. I'm not a chef or anything, but after having Rogue, Remy, and Jean looking over my shoulder for so long, I can get by without having to survive on TV dinners.

[So, not Charles. Is it better that he 'borrowed' a car to take his new friends to the mall? Yes, definitely. Scott thinks so at least! That afternoon was honestly one of the best he's had back home and why he was partly so upset when he first got here. Besides, they got to see how fast he could drive something without crashing. He's a good driver, 100%.
Eventually Scott lowers his hands, letting them rest by his sides, but he still keeps his place on the counter as he smirks at the other mutant.]
Don't knock TV dinners. [...] Wait wait, I didn't hear my name in that list. So, I don't cook at all?
[Hmmmmm.] And that means you shouldn't hold any expectation for me to cook for you and the others.

[That's hardly something Morph is going to give him a lecture about, they just think it's funny. If anything, they're happy to hear that the younger X-Men from his timeline were getting to have fun and do things that sounded like normal teenage antics. It spoke volumes about how much more peaceful Scott's world was compared to their own, really.
Those next comments leave Morph shaking their head though, planting their hands on their hips.]
No such luck, buddy. Cooking duties get rotated, so most everyone helps out in the kitchen, those are just the ones who are the best at it. The adult-you usually helps out Jean when it's her turn, or does a backyard barbecue.
Me, I usually got to do the side dishes while Logan was grilling. That way we could put a meal together without having to worry about giving anyone food poisoning.
no subject
Are you really sure that you want me to cook for everyone? You might regret it later.
[Although, not even Scott at his Teenage Worst would want to give everyone food poisoning. That sort of thing really sucks! Besides, he'd never live it down if he poisoned all the X-Men or something like that. And... he does honestly want to participate in this, it's just stupid to admit it.]
no subject
C'mon, I'm not putting a gun to your head and asking you to cook pancakes. Just consider it a preview of what life is like in the mansion. As boring as it is, we gotta share chores sometimes.
[But in a way, Morph thought it was nice. The cheesy family togetherness stuff didn't happen on the battlefield, it was through a whole bunch of unrelated mutants living and hanging out together, and doing all the domestic stuff that came with it. It was like a little oasis from the outside world, despite all the unpredictable stuff that came along with being one of the X-Men.]
But if you want to get in on practicing early, there's plenty of space here and all the stuff you'd need to do it. Just don't burn the place down, okay?

[Scott snorts, but he sees the invitation for what it is. Even if he doesn't plan to live in the mansion, not yet, he knows that he can stop by whenever he wants and that's a nice feeling. A home to go to, if he ever feels like not turning to his own house for one reason or another. He won't be turned away and just like those earlier thoughts, it really means a lot to be accepted by the other X-Men outside of leadership stuff.
He swings his legs from atop the counter for a few more seconds before Scott finally decides to jump down, dusting his pants before nodding over at Morph.]
It'd be pretty talented of me if I burnt the place down, I'll consider it a challenge. [He'll try really hard--] But enough about the kitchen, give me the rest of the tour.
