alright, roll call. who all disappeared after all that bullshit last month? Cait and Ekko are gone. they haven't showed back up.

i know they're probably not the only ones, so there's gotta be some info on where they are.

ii. lupin

[she could be found around Lupin first of all, and when she's there she's aggressively cleaning the glasses that're being used, except for a glass that she takes a drink out of every now and then.

if she hears someone approach, she looks over to the side so that she can see them in her periphery.]

What do you want? Or if you're trying to pay, don't bother.

[she doesn't really care about money of all things right now.]

iii. gym

[when she's not at Lupin, she's at the gym. she could be seen punching the shit out of a punching bag, and at some point... the chain breaks, and it goes falling to the floor. she groans when it happens, kicking the shit out of it now and then throwing it into the wall. she stands there, breathing heavily after that, putting her hands on her knees a bit and starts to catch her breath.]

Leave me alone.

[if she sees anyone coming by, anyway.]

So... a ghost who can stalk people through mirrors. Why not?

[at least she's used to the oddities that this place comes up with now -- or rather, the odd universes that people come from. could not be her, though.]

Oi, [ he says, though there's some humour in that. ] I don't stalk people! I could but I don't.

[ an important distinction, that! but that humour dims into something quieter, an understanding smile he aims at her. ] ... Yeah. Of course. I may not have known her, but, well. I do know a fair bit about death. And I know it's not something permanent here, but still... doesn't make a difference, does it, when someone you care about dies? It's not any less unfair. Doesn't make you feel any less helpless, either.

[ is he projecting? maybe a little, here, but something tells him vi seems to be a little like him — someone who prefers action, someone who hates sitting still. someone who'd rather fight for their loved ones than do anything else. and hell, but he can relate. ]

[she nods a little bit. she'd expected Caitlyn to just deal when she'd died, and now... she understands how it feels to be on that side. even if the loss wasn't permanent.]

No, it's not. Especially when you weren't even there to help her.

[her voice shakes a little bit, and she takes a deep breath.]

She's gonna get so tired of me when she comes back.

Yeah, [ he says, mouth twisting into something almost pained, ] When you had to hear about it happening later on.

[ it is something very real in his voice, too, a kind of regret and pain rolled into one, laced with sympathy and understanding, because, yeah. he knows exactly how she feels.

which is also why he can say, with some confidence, ] Nah, I don't think so. I mean, I don't know her, but — can't imagine it being the case.

[she picks up on the fact that he knows what she's talking about, but doesn't ask. she's not really the nosy sort, and if he doesn't want to elaborate... well, she understands that, too.

but at his next comment, she smirks.]

I dunno. I can get really annoying if I wanna be. She won't even be able to get a paper cut.

[ no, he doesn't want to elaborate — it's not strictly relevant, here, they're not... swapping stories, as it were, especially when it's about something like this.

the smirk, and the accompanying comment, though, they both make him grin in response. ]

And you'll what, fight the paper? Really tear it to shreds?

[now the smirk turns into a grin.]

Oh yeah, I will. Burn it up, even. That's what it'll get for cutting her.

[hey, at least she's grinning again. it's been hard to do for the past few days.]

[ he really can't help but laugh at that, an easy sound — his eyes crinkle in the corners as he tilts his head, grins wide at her. ]

Wow, that's savage, innit? Should've known better than to mess with you.

Everything should know better than to mess with me.

[it's nice to make someone else laugh, even though this is the first time meeting him. helps keep her mind off of Caitlyn.]

[ said with more laughter underlying the words — and it's good, to see her smiling and joking. if that's the one thing he's achieved with this visit... then he'll call it a success. ]
