August Catch-All - Glitching Event
Who: Silco + Open to All
Where: Around Aldrip
What: August Monthly Post – Includes glitching
Warnings: Violence, murder
i. Glitching Out
[The previous month and part of this month, Silco had been spared having alterations to his person. His businesses, his property and even the generalized environment had seemed to be on the fritz, and no one seemed to know if it was a result of the previous infection or if they had failed their ‘rehab’ enough that this place was destabilizing and required a reset.
Still, he had to continue business as usual while he investigated on his own. That was until he was stepping out from the Last Drop to head to another business for a daily check-in when he experienced a disturbing situation not unlike being struck by lightning. He dropped at the unexpectedness of it all, and it took him exactly one minute to realize the difference.
He could see normally from both eyes. The aches of his facial scarring and generalized age had disappeared. The air felt unbearably clean to his lungs. His hair fell forward into his face.
Silco pushed himself back to his feet slowly, and he looked down at this hands – youthful hands – and then reached up to feel his face. There was a puddle of water nearby which he stepped over to look into, sighting an appearance half of his previous age.
Yet, his mind remained intact. He was trapped in a 20 year old body, and he couldn’t deny how amazing it felt.]
ii. Around Town - Parkour
[He didn’t know how long he was going to be stuck like this, but it seemed prudent to take advantage of the spirit of youthfulness. While he didn’t have idle time per say in Aldrip, he certainly made time every time that he stepped out of one of his businesses to enjoy what age and reputation had slowly turned him from.
Fissurefolk were infamous for their abilities to scale buildings and get into places that few others would dare to. Silco had been the slimmest of their group, meaning he could slide into narrow alleys and scale buildings were Vander had trouble; getting down was Vander’s strength. So he was going to enjoy the freedom.
Silco could be seen around the residential and commercial spaces perform feats that were as easy as breathing for those of his people. Scaling buildings, run over rooftops and leap between buildings, flip over large open spaces, and even using random poles to perform. It was all about testing the limits of a body he had outgrown years ago, and he found he enjoyed himself.]

He brought her wrist closer to his face for inspection. Her words verified his expectation that she had suffered similarly though with no visible effects. Nothing yet at least, but clearly she was using methods to ground herself.]
Perhaps this will not last long. How long have yours lasted?
no subject
[ she staggers over her words, watching him examine at her wrist, then looks off to a building they pass that's being mashed into two entirely different designs. ]
I don't know if you or... all of this is even real. Or happening. I'm just going along with it.
no subject
I am real. I've always been real, even... like this. Do I feel real?
no subject
Mm, you do.
[ and as long as she's with him throughout the whole day (hopefully), things should be all right and he can be her stand point. ... unless he phases away from her, in which, that is something she doesn't want to think is a possibility.
the ride to the entertainment district goes as expected so far, it's smooth in despite of some establishment glitching in and out of existence or becoming something else. the driver, the horse, and wagon seem to stay intact too, but it appears they haven't made to their destination yet when neither the driver or jinx make any movements of stopping each other from this little journey. ]
no subject
[He remained with his arm draped across the back of her shoulders, shifting and rocking with the roll of the wagon. At this point, he wasn't of the belief that anyone would recognize him by sight, which provided a little excitement that he could do whatever he wanted without having the regular Chosen put two and two together.
His head turned to watch the city pass them by, noting the usual elements of the entertainment district as they came and passed through view. When there was no sign of stopping, he turned his head to regard the top of hers.]
Where are you whisking me away to?
1/3
[ and it's a good thing he brought up this question, because wherever she is meant to take them, the driver seems to be steadily riding them pass it. jinx jerks her head up and quickly twists herself to flag the local behind them. ]
Hey, right here!! Stop,stop...!
[ the entire wagon stutters at her sudden announcement with the horse neighing over the abruptness tug from its harness. and although it hadn't made a complete stop yet, jinx is already making her way to hop off carriage. — ]
2/3
anyway, the little bluenette doesn't go straight in, but around it, squeezing herself between the building and the next to a small alleyway. there's nothing really significant about this area at first until she (and silco if he is still following along) comes across a small little chest. ]

his daughter gathers her feet again, dusting off any excess dirt and dust off her pants before covering her head with the hood. ]
Okay, follow me. Do as I do, okay?
[ what does that mean?? how mysterious. ]
no subject
He noted her glitch to her smaller self and inhaled sharply at the sight. He could recall the day he met her so vividly in his mind's eye. It didn't last long enough to be more than a small burst of nostalgia before he came to the alley and waited for her to squeeze in.
He waited, looking around in case anyone were to happen to pass by, noting her cloak and able to place it immediately.]
I don't have a mystery cloak, so I don't believe I'll be particularly successful. We are not doing a collaborative recruitment speech to Aldrip.
no subject
Pfffft, hahahaha! No, no, we're not doing that!!
[ she reassures him as she wipes a pink tear away from her eyelid. jinx straightens herself again and then guides him back in front of the dinky restaurant/bar. ]
All you've got to do is follow me. You don't even have to say anything, easy peasy. Trust me, nothing will go wrong!
[ she says this, however on the door of this said establishment has a picture of herself framed that reads in bold letters, "BANNED. DO NOT SERVE." ]
no subject
He paused as he examined the front face of the restaurant and bar, noting the banning. He sighed through his nose and pushed his hair out of his face. Did he need to buy this place? Probably.]
Lead the way to trouble then.
no subject
as for the patrons, some are mixed between being affected by the malfunctioning of the city, and some seem to look normal yet unaware of their companion's mishaps. at least the music on their jukebox is pleasant, and not chaotic loud like some of the diner/bars several blocks down.
jinx weaves through the tables and people with ease and advances over to the bar where she stands and waits patiently for the bartender to notice. when the man sees her and silco (whenever he makes his way over), there's a strange look on his face — like showing concern and hesitation. he peeks around their area briefly as if to check for danger before making his way over to the two. in a hushed tone, he leans forward and ask them: ]
"What'll be?"
no subject
He stepped into the dingy establishment after his daughter, surveying the various states of chaos in this place when it came to objects and the patrons. He supposed he could count himself among them now, and as he passed by a few, he wondered if their mixed state was painful or they didn't even notice.
He appeared at the bar behind Jinx, noting the interesting interaction with the barkeep. He crossed his arms over his chest and waited, watching the situation unfold.]
no subject
[ the barkeep exchanges a glance between her and silco, then exhales out a weary sigh as he slicks his light hair back with his large fingers. ]
"The boss is not in a great mood today, Kid. You're really pushing yer luck. And sneaking the two of yas ain't gonna be easy."
[ she sneers before rolling her eyes at his little warning, and scoffs just to show how undaunted she is to hear about the owner's temper. ]
I don't care about the Fat Lard, I need to get up there. — Make it work.
[ he groans, but complies and holds his palm up as a notion for them to wait where they are as he shifts off through the double doors where the kitchen and cooks are being kept. ]
no subject
It sounded like a potential future business transaction in his future. He would wait and see if it was worthwhile or not first.]
Coffee and chocolate? That does sound like something you'd drink.
[It was said quietly under his breath as he was back to looking at his fingernails.]
no subject
It's super good too! And once we get what I need to get, then we can party.
[ jinx nips at her lower lip to express her previous clumsy thinking which resulted in them being in this establishment in the first place. ]
I... sorrrtaa forgot to take something back home with me the last time I was here, and besides!! We can get to eat in private, too. Shooting down two birds.
no subject
[He hadn't actually eaten it until much later in life, and he found it too sweet or too bitter. How it would be in coffee? He had no idea, and he wasn't looking to experiment even on whatever adventure they were going to undertake.
He nodded his head simply accepting her reasoning. He had no idea what item that was so important that they needed to make a stop here, but he would be investigating this establishment later.]
It sounds like you have it all worked out. Running errands and getting food at similar times.
no subject
[ implying she picked it up from him (and vi too) on how to multitask when it comes to taking care of business and fulfilling their personal needs. a woman (a cook, perhaps) peeks her head through the double doors and waves the two of them down to come inside. jinx bounces in her step then ventures on over to the kitchen with the woman smiling to both of them to allow them inside.
in the kitchen, the aroma of various dishes fill the area, with sweet sounds of meals sizzling and dishes clanking together. the workers chat amongst themselves in a friendly manner too, and even grant jinx and silco a kind smile and a wave. strange. everyone seems so pleasant, so why is she banned here? in the chef office, there's a muffled roar of laughter coming from it that sounded like two men (one voice belonging to the barkeeper) having a grand old time. it's easy now to put two and two together that the barkeep's role in this is meant to be the distraction while the duo wander around the diner freely and without any hassle.
another cook addresses jinx and silco by extending out two to-go plates, then stretches out an arm for them to browse around the kitchen to take whatever dishes that are already prepared. giggling, his daughter scurries further in, grabbing a few plates here and there with her free hand to transport it to her to-go plate like it's some sort of buffet just for her and him, and no one else. ]
no subject
[Silco noted the cook waving them through, and he pushed off of where he was leaning to follow Jinx. He made a point to tuck his hands into his pockets and doing his best impression of a moody teenager to pair well with Jinx's bouncing nature. Maybe if he presented himself as her companion for the day, no one would invest any time looking deeper into the matter.
This was an interesting ruse, and he almost was tempted enough to investigate the room with the two men. He expected it would not end well if Jinx was known to be raiding the kitchen, so he didn't.
He took his offered plate and wandered after his daughter to investigate the prepared meals.]
I see you've ingratiated yourself with the staff....
no subject
[ she grins wide and toothly at her father while swiping a couple of those mini sandwiches onto her plate, continuing to pace around in happy energy. despite her claim of not being in the mood to eat, her tray seems to be stacking up little by little. if she keeps shopping like this, she's going to have a difficult time shutting the thing close.
all the while as they pick, two cooks depart to go inside a walk-in pantry fill with uncut vegetables and other supplies — together, they carefully shimmey a shelf aside to reveal a mysterious hidden wooden door that will leads to...somewhere. maybe to this secret place jinx kept hammering on about. ]
no subject
He noted that two of the cooks had disappeared, able to deduce where they had gone but contented himself with his little sandwich and let Jinx continue to take the lead. He was, after all, play the part of moody young adult to jive off her bouncy exuberant personality.]
no subject
"Ha ha, yeah yeah! Guess we better get back to it, huh?"
[ a verbal signal for everyone to wrap up and to get a move on, which causes the cooking crew to fret in a small panic. the two cooks in the pantry whisper loudly at the duo to hurry on inside and reassure them if they want drinks, they have cans of beverages to select from where they are already. jinx complies, and heads to the pantry — picking out a green canned drink that is meant to taste lemon lime. ]
no subject
He walked more leisurely despite the panic, unwilling to be hurried even as he slipped into the pantry, grabbing a random can to tuck into the sack. They apparently had a secret space to get into now?]
no subject
"Hey, are we all slacking out here?! I thought we had more orders than this...!!"
[ somehow the culinarian's temper was enough to trigger jinx to glitch again, quietly gasping and swinging her attention at the shut door behind them. the oversize cloak falls off her small frame, now revealing her younger self standing there, timid and clutching her tray close to her chest. the employee by silco silently nudges him to head further inside the hidden passage way, where a ladder rests delicately for them to ascend to... wherever it will lead. as for jinx, she seems to be too petrified to move, with her doe-like eyes glue intensely at the door. ]
"Do I have to do everything myself?! And where is Saraphina and Lucas?!"
no subject
Then he turned back and returned to his young daughter. He eased down in front of her, setting his food aside and then reaching out to grasp the fallen cloak. He picked it up and wrapped it around her shoulders, pulling the hood up to cover her head so she couldn't readily see above.]
It's okay. Look at me, my daughter. There's nothing to be afraid of.
