FREE NIGHT AT THE CASINO

GAMBLING

Feeling down after that space infestation made you murder some friends? Getting tempted to bury yourself in the sand at the beach so no one can ever perceive you again?

Time for a tone shift! It's a free night at the casino. For tonight only, chips mean nothing -- which means everyone gets a rack of chips when they walk in and can let loose! Entertainment, food, and drink are also free within reason. (Abuse the privilege and find out who works security here the hard way!)

Welcome to Queens, the formerly shady but now revamped and reimagined casino in the entertainment district of Aldrip. Classy and minimalist but not gaudy, it's run, staffed, and heavily patronized by Chosen. Maybe you know someone who works there, maybe someone dragged you in to lighten up for once, maybe you're just stopping by for some fun.

Appropriately, the most popular game of the night is Queen's Blood, with tables set aside purely for teaching. There's also the standard casino games available in spades -- poker, slots, roulette, baccarat, blackjack, and so forth.

AT THE CLUB

It wouldn't be a casino without alcohol, music, and dancing. There's a low-key bar for those looking to have a conversation where they can hear one another over the pleasant live jazz, and a much livelier dance floor set off to the side in a different part of the casino with a DJ playing dance music.

FIGHTING TOURNAMENT

Beneath the casino is a massive underground cavern converted into a fighting arena.

It's a bit hard to find, intentionally -- either you were personally invited by someone or you stumbled across the covert speakeasy-style entrance in a corner of the main floor, possibly from the people jostling to go in and out. The stairs go down and down until they suddenly open out into the huge room, lined in walkways to view the fight.

There's three circuits to the fighting tournament: a bracket for fighting with powers, a bracket for fighting without powers (hand-to-hand and weapons only), and a shooting competition. Toph (fieldtrip) serves as referee for all of the above and is prepared to break up anything that goes too far. This is just for fun, folks!

DOG THERAPY

In one peaceful corner away from the din and bustle is a dog petting station. All manner of adorable and highly trained dogs are available for cuddles and play time.

Some of them are even up for adoption if you want to take one home!

but he grins a bit more as Kotone skips over to him, and then nods at the dealer to bring him into the fold. yeah, if she's here, he'd definitely do it.]

I might be stealing your girl tonight, too.

[he winks a bit, though he doesn't make a move to flirt with her otherwise. he wants to make sure they both know he's not actually going to do it...]

[There's a brief moment when Scott's smile fades. He didn't quite expect Kotone to leave his side to be near Yosuke, but the mutant bites his lip, clearly trying to stop himself from reacting too badly to this. He's not very subtle, something shifting behind his eyes, but eventually he seems to recover-- taking everything in with some level of acceptance. They're all having fun... Kotone is still okay, she's literally right in front of him. Yosuke isn't being weird or anything; he's clearly joking anyway.

You're fine, Summers. You can't just cling to her forever. He needs to start getting better.

Besides, getting mad never helped in the past. That thought feels even more prominent since the whole Ryoji thing. Like sure, how he felt at that particular moment probably wasn't responsible for him glitching into that other Scott-- Phoenix, but better to be safe than sorry??]

Kotone prefers to stand around and look cute. [Which she effortlessly does. But Scott finally manages to smile again, just a little, something teasing entering his voice.] She likes to make everyone else do the work for her.

[Kotone's smile doesn't waver, though it doesn't quite reach her eyes, either, when Scott bites his lip. She hadn't meant to test him with that kind of flouncing movement, but she really should have known better. Scott's still raw about everything that had happened, isn't he? She should have stayed at his side. Then again, maybe it's good for him to have this little distance between them. Somebody way smarter than her has to explain that, though.

But then Scott manages to smile, and the tension pops like a soap bubble. Kotone laughs at Yosuke's joke and pats his head, tossing her boyfriend a smile even as she leans on Yosuke's shoulder.]

Do you wanna switch, Scott? You can stand around looking cute and I'll win the game~

[Like, there's nothing in the rules that says somebody can't equip a Persona of the Fortune arcana during a casino game? She could probably do pretty well if she tried!! But standing around looking cute is way easier. Besides,]

I'm having fun watching Scott have fun.

[there's a moment where Yosuke notices the change on Scott's face too. his own expression shifts into something more concerned too -- maybe looking like he's going to apologize. he'd just gotten a little carried away, and y'know. almost forgot for a moment what'd happened last month. he knew that his month was hell... he has no idea about theirs.

but then the tension breaks again. and instead of apologizing, Yosuke's just going to move on. maybe it's something he'll talk about later. maybe not.

it just depends on them. maybe they just wanna get their mind off things just as much as he did.]

Gross.

[he grins as he says it though, wrinkling his nose as he turns back to the game.]

Alright, alright, let's get this thing going!

[even though we all know how it's going to end LMFAO]

[That tension hasn't fully disappeared from Scott, especially as his attention keeps on drifting back to Kotone more often than not, but it's clear that he's trying. He wants all of them to have a good time and she really seems happy teasing Yosuke like this. She really needed this too, huh? Being out with her friends-- their friends.]

Uh-huh, because I'm sure that Yosuke would prefer to have me leaning over his shoulder.

[...Although isn't Yosuke the one with two boyfriends and everything?? Well, regardless, everyone present knows that Kotone is way better at the standing around looking cute gig.] How lucky are you normally, Yosuke?

[As Scott asks that question, two cards are dealt to both of them, with the dealer showing a 'ten' on his side. Hit or stand...]

[She does really need this -- every time she can get together with her friends, it's another tangible reminder that it's all worth it. All the pain and suffering, the exhaustion and heartache -- it's worth it, just to spend a little bit longer with her friends and make sure her friends are safe enough to have their own fun. She grins at Scott and rests her elbow companionably on Yosuke's shoulder, peering at his cards without shame.]

You should try it! Yosuke's pretty tall, so it's easy to do!

[She doesn't have to bend down very much even if the other boy is sitting! Not that Scott is that much shorter, but it's still funny to tease him where she can.]

[he takes his cards and snorts at the question of luck. he's got an 8 and a 4 so far though, so... not bad?]

[he grins a bit at Scott, trying to lighten the mood a bit further, especially since he felt as if he misstepped a bit with him. and really, they're all friends here, right?

[Scott acts more insulted than he actually is, trying to find it within himself to go along with the teasing. Fake until you make it, always a lesson to go by. It does help with making his chest a little lighter though, with the mutant huffing just slightly as he looks at his hand. He has a 17... so guess he'll just stand??]

But sure, I'll go over to you if you need the extra luck.

[He says almost off-handedly as the dealer slides another card over to Yosuke. Will he win or lose... especially since the dealer is holding a 20.]

[Scott's attempt makes Kotone giggle, so surely that makes it worth it. She sticks her tongue out at him from over Yosuke's shoulder, then brings her hand to her heart. It's not cheating to focus on Norn, her Persona of the Fortune arcana, right? There's no way to know if it even influences the cards at all, but if Yosuke's luck is really so bad, it probably can't hurt! Maybe at least bring him to neutral luck instead of bad luck?]
