FREE NIGHT AT THE CASINO

GAMBLING

Feeling down after that space infestation made you murder some friends? Getting tempted to bury yourself in the sand at the beach so no one can ever perceive you again?

Time for a tone shift! It's a free night at the casino. For tonight only, chips mean nothing -- which means everyone gets a rack of chips when they walk in and can let loose! Entertainment, food, and drink are also free within reason. (Abuse the privilege and find out who works security here the hard way!)

Welcome to Queens, the formerly shady but now revamped and reimagined casino in the entertainment district of Aldrip. Classy and minimalist but not gaudy, it's run, staffed, and heavily patronized by Chosen. Maybe you know someone who works there, maybe someone dragged you in to lighten up for once, maybe you're just stopping by for some fun.

Appropriately, the most popular game of the night is Queen's Blood, with tables set aside purely for teaching. There's also the standard casino games available in spades -- poker, slots, roulette, baccarat, blackjack, and so forth.

AT THE CLUB

It wouldn't be a casino without alcohol, music, and dancing. There's a low-key bar for those looking to have a conversation where they can hear one another over the pleasant live jazz, and a much livelier dance floor set off to the side in a different part of the casino with a DJ playing dance music.

FIGHTING TOURNAMENT

Beneath the casino is a massive underground cavern converted into a fighting arena.

It's a bit hard to find, intentionally -- either you were personally invited by someone or you stumbled across the covert speakeasy-style entrance in a corner of the main floor, possibly from the people jostling to go in and out. The stairs go down and down until they suddenly open out into the huge room, lined in walkways to view the fight.

There's three circuits to the fighting tournament: a bracket for fighting with powers, a bracket for fighting without powers (hand-to-hand and weapons only), and a shooting competition. Toph (fieldtrip) serves as referee for all of the above and is prepared to break up anything that goes too far. This is just for fun, folks!

DOG THERAPY

In one peaceful corner away from the din and bustle is a dog petting station. All manner of adorable and highly trained dogs are available for cuddles and play time.

Some of them are even up for adoption if you want to take one home!

Kakashi (battlefieldbrat) runs and operates this station with the kind supervision of Koromaru, our local good boy.

[Despite choosing to stay quiet and swallows down the irritated curses building up on his tongue, the distaste and frustration are still very clear on his expression as he turns back to face the table--

And oh. It's her. The corner of Akechi's lip twitches a little when he sees Dara. But just like before, he tampers his sour mood down and reaches out to grab his cocktail.]

No. I have not seen your pet around. I doubt he'll be making appearance, except maybe lurk in the shadows. [He takes a sip of the colorful drink.] And if you are referring to my request regarding his powers, don't bother. I am handling it.

[Twitch all you like, Akechi, she's still not leaving.

But HMMMM. An eyebrow is raised. There are two misconceptions of his that she needs to fix:]

Okay, first off, I take offense to him being referred to as my pet. Humans love and cherish their pets, so obviously he's more like livestock to me. Fowl or furniture are better comparisons.

[Gotta make that clear, okay? She holds no affection for the silly clown man. And onto the most confusing comment--]

What is there to handle? I've already set the rules in place for him. It's just a matter of you starting the encounter.

Tch. [Akechi clicks his tongue and hold back the urge to roll his eyes.]

You do have pretty optimistic view of humans, then. It is actually quite common for humans to mistreat and abuse their pets, training them to be weapons or outlets for their own hatred and issues. But very well, we might as well refer him to a livestock from now on. [Mostly because it is also kind of funny to him. Get rekt, clown.

He puts the drink back down on the table, crosses his legs and leans his temple on his knuckles, assuming more comfortable and relaxed position.]

Yes. But we both know he can be rather slippery, correct? Despite him being bound to face me in order for that to happen I ought to locate him first. Unless your curse came with GPS tracker.

[Dang, Akechi, just keep reminding her you're still a brat. Ugh. She'll let it go this time since he agreed to the reference switch.]

A GPS? [Give her a second so she can recall Modern Tech Terms.] The most I can establish would be a compass of sorts...But you would need to fulfill a task for me beforehand.

[Which she expects him to immediately turn down the idea.]

A Global Positioning System. Or Quasi-Zenith Satellite. It is a radio navigation system that also allows you to find anyone, anywhere on earth. Too bad Aldrip has nothing quite like it currently. [He shrug. Because yeah, he can't help but show off his wikipedia skills once again.

But Dara is absolutely right. Akechi would not strike a deal with another god. One time was enough, but however the offer still does ping his curiosity.] What kind of task would that be?

[Ah yes, information that is both interesting and ultimately useless to her. Dara simply closes her eyes and pinches the bridge of her nose for a brief moment. Weird way to show off, but okay.

As for his question, there is no immediate answer. Instead, the god ends up crossing her arms and leaning back in the chair.]

I don't have anything right now unless you have some way to find missing memories.

[Girl... You asked.

Anyway, that does catch Akechi's interest. The magic he possesses is mostly offensive and used for battle, he's always relied on items to get through potential ailments. However, considering that this world has an ability to alter memories so.. who knows. Maybe there is a way.]

Elaborate a bit? Are these recently lost memories? Caused by an accident or magic?

[Okay, maybe she's a tiny bit surprised he's asking questions. Not that it shows.]

I'm missing a period of time before the Gnosia infection. I haven't found any evidence of worrisome activities during that time, but I'd like to make sure. If possible, that is.

[Dara returns to leaning against the table.]

If you somehow learn what I was doing during that time, I will give you a compass to follow that puppet of mine.

[Livestock, puppet, not much difference in her head.]

Hmm.. [Akechi hums thoughtfully and gently rubs his chin with his thumb.] So, it is less about retrieving your memory but rather investigating what your actions were during that time?

[Because phew! That certainly makes things much more manageable. Instead of going for supernatural hunt he'd just have to do classic detective work. Not something that he'd be normally too excited about, as he specializes in much more complex cases involving violent crimes, but hey. With all things concerned? It could actually be a nice distraction and return back to the his roots.]

Pretty much. [She shrugs a bit to herself.] If I ended up killing someone or something along the way, just assume that I ate the corpse.
