FREE NIGHT AT THE CASINO
GAMBLING
Feeling down after that space infestation made you murder some friends? Getting tempted to bury yourself in the sand at the beach so no one can ever perceive you again?
Time for a tone shift! It's a free night at the casino. For tonight only, chips mean nothing -- which means everyone gets a rack of chips when they walk in and can let loose! Entertainment, food, and drink are also free within reason. (Abuse the privilege and find out who works security here the hard way!)
Welcome to Queens, the formerly shady but now revamped and reimagined casino in the entertainment district of Aldrip. Classy and minimalist but not gaudy, it's run, staffed, and heavily patronized by Chosen. Maybe you know someone who works there, maybe someone dragged you in to lighten up for once, maybe you're just stopping by for some fun.
Appropriately, the most popular game of the night is Queen's Blood, with tables set aside purely for teaching. There's also the standard casino games available in spades -- poker, slots, roulette, baccarat, blackjack, and so forth.

AT THE CLUB
It wouldn't be a casino without alcohol, music, and dancing. There's a low-key bar for those looking to have a conversation where they can hear one another over the pleasant live jazz, and a much livelier dance floor set off to the side in a different part of the casino with a DJ playing dance music.
FIGHTING TOURNAMENT
Beneath the casino is a massive underground cavern converted into a fighting arena.
It's a bit hard to find, intentionally -- either you were personally invited by someone or you stumbled across the covert speakeasy-style entrance in a corner of the main floor, possibly from the people jostling to go in and out. The stairs go down and down until they suddenly open out into the huge room, lined in walkways to view the fight.
There's three circuits to the fighting tournament: a bracket for fighting with powers, a bracket for fighting without powers (hand-to-hand and weapons only), and a shooting competition. Toph (
fieldtrip) serves as referee for all of the above and is prepared to break up anything that goes too far. This is just for fun, folks!

FORTUNE TELLING
Get a free tarot reading!
It does seem like some of the glitching in Aldrip has made it maybe a little more accurate than usual lately... or maybe that's inaccurate? Feel free to have the cards have a real effect on them with a glitch!

DOG THERAPY
In one peaceful corner away from the din and bustle is a dog petting station. All manner of adorable and highly trained dogs are available for cuddles and play time.
Some of them are even up for adoption if you want to take one home!
Kakashi (
battlefieldbrat) runs and operates this station with the kind supervision of Koromaru, our local good boy.

1— kotone, maybe scott lurking and popping up here and there? idk.
anyone can easily brush against her on accident or bump into her, and she would rather avoid any more catastrophes if she can help it. so sitting at the bar with her legs crossed, and her elbow propped on the table, rogue gazes off at the selection of liquor behind the bar counter. moonshine is what catches her attention, and her mind drifts off to a certain cajun who would definitely guzzle away the drink if he laid his eyes on the bottle. it takes a split second for rogue to notice kotone's presence, and she blinks her way with a slight quirk of an eyebrow, but also with a smile too. ]
Ain't ya a lil' young to be serving drinks, Hon?
no subject
[The legal age to drink alcohol in Japan, anyway. Dazai had taught her a long time ago how to mix drinks -- probably so he wouldn't have to do it -- but it's proven to be a useful skill. Good for getting people to talk to her, anyway! Kotone's bright smile doesn't falter at the sight of the older woman as she runs a wet towel over the bar, cleaning up from a recent ring left on the wood. She still can't say she's entirely happy with the idea of someone who'd let a bunch of humans die if it meant some mutants would be saved, but Rogue had helped out during recent events. Real action is way more important than any future hypothetical.
Plus, she'd never expected to make it to this age, anyway -- even if she's kind of exaggerating, considering she'd only turned nineteen two months ago. But it's kind of fun to point out, anyway! And she definitely won't be thinking about anything else related to that-]
Besides, I don't think there's any laws about that here!
no subject
[ but somehow, this doesn't surprise her. if people can do almost whatever they wanted here, why would there be any laws about drinking or partaking in substances? it doesn't sit right with her, knowing people who are way younger than her are consuming things they shouldn't. at least, not yet. ]
Some of these are strong enough to knock out a mule, and you'll stumble into bigger trouble at the end of your shot glass, if ya ain't careful and know how to pace yourself. — If an adult can get so dumb off of 'em that he could throw himself on the ground and miss, then I don't wanna know what it'll do to a teenager.
no subject
Same thing, I think! [Teenager and adult, that is. She sweeps down a little further on the bar, picks up a coaster from beneath, and sets it in front of the older woman with a smile and a shrug.] There's other stuff too, if you'd rather have that. Juice, water, tea, coffee... I can get a menu if you want!
[But also, Kotone simply can never leave too well alone; though her smile doesn't falter, her voice is a little softer as she adds,] How's Morph-san?
no subject
A small glass of moonshine, Sugah. And a side of breadsticks if ya got 'em.
[ rogue is going to just assume the bar carries breadsticks without taking a peek from the menu. but on the subject of morph, the mutant sighs quietly as she rests her cheek along her palm. ]
They're goin'. Like a truck with a semi-flat tryin' to make it to the auto store.
no subject
[She pours the moonshine that Rogue had had her eye on, but she'll have to head into the back to get the breadsticks. It gives her time to try to puzzle out what Rogue means by that funny little turn of phrase. Eventually, she just settles on "Morph's making progress," which she hopes is the right interpretation.
She returns in short order with the breadsticks and sets it down with one of her usual smiles.]
As long as Morph-san isn't stuck. As long as we're alive, we gotta keep moving forward, right?
[It's not intended for Scott, but he is within earshot. It's a good reminder for all of them, she thinks, human and mutant alike.]
no subject
Preachin' to the choir, sister. I'll gladly drink to that.
[ and with that being said, rogue places the glass to her lips to steadily swig the liquor, but not without her eye twitching slightly over the burning sensation trickling down her throat. just how in the hell could that man drink this stuff so easily? it must be the reason why he lost all of his senses.
leaving the drink half full, the mutant sets it neatly back on the bar counter and blows out the after-taste. ]
God oh mighty...! — If that don't wake ya up or put some hair on your chest, then I don't know what will.
no subject
Yeah, I don't think I'd like that one.
[She doesn't drink often, for as much as she bartends. When she does, it's usually a fruity drink that's more sugar than alcohol, so something that had smelled like paint thinner when she'd been pouring it? No thanks! Anyway-]
You're an X-Man, too, right? Scott told me a little bit.
no subject
That'd be me, yeah. The name's Rogue, if he hadn't introduced me yet. I'm the... "tank" of the team, if ya had to label my role.
no subject
[But Kotone smiles regardless, even as she glances around to see if Shinji's somewhere within view. Eh, no big deal! Shinji hates when people fuss over him, so best not to draw attention to him.
She wants to ask about the Scott that Rogue knows, but Scott's still close enough to overhear, particularly if she says his name. So instead, after a quick glance down the bar at him, she asks,] What's it like? Being on a team like that.
