Scott 'has zero self-respect' Summers ([personal profile] laserguy) wrote in [community profile] expiationlogs2024-07-07 07:23 pm

me and all my other mes

Who: Scott Summers and you
Where: Around Aldrip
What: Scott glitching into different versions of himself, such as 97, James Marsden, time displaced teen Scott from the comics, etc...
Warnings: Maybe some possible spoilers for X-Men 97??

I’m Totally Buggin (X-Men 97);
[Walking around Aldrip? You may notice a slightly familiar, but also pretty different version of one Scott Summers. Mostly, just the fact that he's an adult that's wearing a bright and colorful X-Men uniform. Look, who would wear black leather?? There's definitely a certain serious countenance to him as he looks around, because this place is new and unfamiliar and where is his team? Hell, he'll even be glad to see Magneto around, since the older mutant has shown that he's capable of letting humans go despite their crimes against them. Second chances and all. It's what the late Professor wanted.

...He still wonders if he didn't do a good enough job if the Professor left everything to Magneto.

But no thoughts for that right now. He has to find the other X-Men or help out any mutants if they are in this city. So, once again, he tries to communicate with the other members of his team, pressing the communicator on his uniform to contact them.]

It's Cyclops, report.

[Once that message is sent, however, Scott will continue his exploration, perhaps even resorting to stopping someone else to ask for information. This doesn't look like an elaborate kidnapping ploy, so he's willing to hear out any of the people walking around.] Can you tell me where we're at?

[Maybe you'll catch Scott walking around one of the more crime infested areas, just casually blasting a robber from across the street with the lowest power setting so that they collapse to the ground, mostly uninjured. It sure is nice to have a visor where he can control the output of his blasts.]

I was basically a cameo (X3: Last Stand);
[Enjoying the beach? Well, maybe not anymore, because there is a scream that echoes throughout the area before two familiar red blasts shoot through the sea for a few seconds, the water breaking apart before instantly converging once more as Scott falls to his knees a respectable distance away (look, he wasn't going to blast right next to someone, he has just enough sense for that). And it's definitely some version of Scott as he stares out at the ocean with an expression that seems haunted and exhausted, despite the shades covering his eyes. Maybe it's the fact that he clearly hasn't shaven in a hot minute.

Normally, Scott wouldn't even think to act this way out in public. But Jean is gone. He can't even hear her in his mind now. She's been dead for a year and he still can't come to grips with it. It's just. He should've done more for her. He should've been there. He should've done something. He... he doesn't know what to do and all that training and self-control is not helping him right now.

He can only just look at the water in front of him, so unlike the lake that claimed her, teeth clenching as her name falls from him.]

Jean...

I stole Wolverine's bike (All New X-Men comics);
[Well, isn't this great.

This Scott half expects Hank to pop out of nowhere and tell him that he's been brought to somewhere else to stop his future self, even if it doesn't make any sense. Nothing has made sense though in the past few days. Look, learning that he kills Charles Xavier in the future, that his future self is a mutant revolutionary hanging out with Magneto, and that everyone pretty much hates him has been a lot. He... he didn't do that. He doesn't want to do any of that.

But Hank hasn't come out to tell him his new idea. And people aren't looking at him with utter contempt or distrust. It's kind of nice. Sure, he only experienced that for just a few days now, but it has been enough. It's not like he can really forget how even Jean looked at him when everyone learned what his future self is like. Probably didn't help that he literally attacked him and the others and promptly disappeared with his new best friend Magneto.

God, this sucks still. Because he doesn't know where he's at and no one is familiar. He'd still rather have the other young X-Men here, because even if it's Bobby or Warren looking at him with distrust, at least they're still his friends.

Scott stares up at the sky for a moment, closes his eyes and takes a deep breath. He can handle this. He can--]

This might as well happen!

[He shouts into the sky before promptly collapsing back on the grass and staring upward still. Maybe that feral man with the claws will come out of nowhere to kill him. He wonders if it would be that bad.]

Explain? C'mon, Cyke, that isn't funny.

[When there's no reply, they start to panic, just a little. That didn't sound good, and despite the lack of threats around the city Morph's immediate first thought was that he got attacked somehow.]

Cyke? Cyclops, come in!

[They even resort to jabbing their communicator over and over again, but nothing's broken. There's just no reply. Without the slightest clue of what's really going on, Morph hurries out of the inn to go searching for their missing teammate. A few hours of searching go by before they're forced to give up. Though they're pretty sure it hadn't all been in their head, the Scott they knew was simply gone, vanished like a mirage.]

[personal profile] mightymorphin 2024-07-18 12:01 am (UTC)(link)
[Morph is already out the door on the search, so it's a good twenty minutes before they stop to reply to the message.]

hey what's up, Scott? sorry I'm kinda running around right now
mightymorphin: (C; running through hell)

[personal profile] mightymorphin 2024-07-19 02:06 am (UTC)(link)
[Right now, Morph is more confused than anything. They had no idea how the younger version had found out about it so quickly, or how he knew what had happened. Morph was just pretty sure that if the older Scott had come face-to-face with himself that he would've mentioned it.]

okay, either you're a telepath now too or you saw something happen. what do you mean, he's not here???
mightymorphin: (C; but the moment is gone)

[personal profile] mightymorphin 2024-07-20 06:39 pm (UTC)(link)
[There's a pause before Morph responds, because really, what do you even say to that? They don't think Scott's fibbing, because the story is just way too out there.]

uh do you remember any of that conversation?
mightymorphin: (C; i'm not sure)

[personal profile] mightymorphin 2024-07-21 08:09 pm (UTC)(link)
oh.

[That thought sends a cold sliver of fear right down Morph's spine. Just what had he picked up on? What were the chances that it was anything? It's not like they thought the adult Cyke was particularly observant in a social sense. This... this might be okay.]

good thing we didn't talk about anything embarrassing! sorry you had to deal with all of that. we were going through a lot of crazy stuff back home. the life of an x-man is pretty much a rollercoaster at the best of times.
mightymorphin: (C; and if you need somebody)

[personal profile] mightymorphin 2024-07-23 12:57 am (UTC)(link)
[Oh... is that it? Now it's Morph's turn to be relieved.]

yeah? I was happy to hear from him, too. not that I wanted him stuck here, but y'know, we're X-Men. Ororo likes to say mushy stuff about us all being family, but it's pretty much true.
mightymorphin: (C; might as well)

[personal profile] mightymorphin 2024-07-23 07:12 pm (UTC)(link)
well sure! we might not be seeing eye to eye right now, but Rogue's my friend. I'm worried about her, but I still feel like I can trust her.

you know that being a mutant is tough. not a lot of us had great home lives or have our real families left to go to. we're all a bunch of misfits. so we might bicker and fight sometimes, but we're all here for each other.
mightymorphin: (C; i used to think it'd all get better)

[personal profile] mightymorphin 2024-07-24 04:36 pm (UTC)(link)
no, it's NOT okay. and I'm not saying I agree with her in the slightest. in fact I'm pretty angry about the stuff she's been a party to.

but what am I supposed to do, huh? arguing with her gets us nowhere, and ditching her won't help either of us get home. I also know why she's doing it, and it's because she's been through some terrible shit, she's lost someone close to her and she's hurt and angry.

so this is one of those times I have to try to be a good example. I'm gonna stick close to her to make sure she doesn't lash out and hurt anyone while she's here, and maybe she'll start getting better. I know I'm at the bottom of the 'most responsible X-Men' list but I'm gonna try not to be a total fuck-up on this one.
mightymorphin: (C; this night is never ending)

[personal profile] mightymorphin 2024-07-25 05:45 pm (UTC)(link)
I tried to talk to her about it when we first got here, but we were both still pretty angry and it didn't go anywhere. problem is she has a lot of personal reasons to stick with Magneto. abandoning her would make it worse for sure, it's just that figuring out how I'm gonna reach her that's the hardest part. there's others on the team who are closer to her or could just read her mind y'know?

I'll do what I can, it just feels a lot like Magneto got to take Rogue in the divorce.

[Because Morph definitely picked up on the old man yaoi vibes during that whole debacle.]

heh! thanks Scott. It's good to know that you and the older-you have some faith in me.

and look, the 'better than nothing' is pretty much true, so I'll take it.
mightymorphin: (C; it's a disaster party)

already a hardass, huh? they grow up so fast.

[Morph just can't help poking fun at that one, especially when that line sounds so much like something the adult version of him would say.]
