On the network! Isn't that kind of on the nose? Isn't that how like, every holonovel evil AI talks to people?
[Okay, so that's definitely not a Borg thing, but other AIs! But, I mean, at least it's...not Borg? From the sound of it? She needs a minute to wrap her head around it, so instead she pivots to another point.]
Oh wow, a STEM club? I thought the acronym was...what, STARCH? STEAM? Something like that?? I guess this one's easier to remember, though! What do you do there?
I don't know what a holonovel is, but I can only assume that it definitely is.
(genius, smart, quick-witted--
but yes, anyway, where is he guiding her again, he pretty much has already forgotten. give him a moment for exposition.)
Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics-- but who knows what else they have where you come from, where people are, uh, green, but we mostly do science projects to help the other people stuck in here.
A holonovel is a-- [wait. stop. temporal nonsense, prime directive, et cetera et cetera, plus there is way more important stuff to talk about.] --never mind. Does this thing talk to people...regularly? I mean-- how often have you been in communication with it?
[She also has no idea where they're going, help, they're two excited chihuahuas just wandering around getting into trouble.]
Um, Orion. I'm...I'm from Orion. What kind of projects have you been doing? That sounds really cool, actually. Like you're helping people out.
I mean, we had once, it does not like me, I think, but probably it's fair, because I was trying to hack in it, but I found out if you talk to it in binary it answers you better, almost like it's happy you're speaking it's language? But don't anger it, it will lock you out or change your name to something real ridiculous!
(just met this person, giving all the good good exposition. it's fine, she looks fine.)
Uh, mostly what is needed by the community, so I work with whatever people bring us. We do apps, or chemistry stuff if needed, and fix gadgets and make gadgets too.
Hmm. [Like, there's a lot to process there. So they've been in contact, they've attempted hacking, it speaks in binary, but they've only spoken to it once...Tendi looks thoughtful for a second, like she's trying to work through whatever questions she has.] Boy, that's a big pile of mysteries. Or like, a mystery wrapped in a mystery. A mystery taco? [She knows some Earth foods!
Oof. That sort of just makes her feel homesick. She can't help thinking of what everyone else might think about all of this.]
It's nice, that you're doing that for people. It seems like there are a lot of us here, so we've all got to stick together, I guess, right?
