That's right! Sorry, I know it's not obvious, but I am a mutant. My main power is teleportation, but I got a few other tricks up my sleeve like clinging to walls.
[With that, Kurt teleports- his teleportation accompanied by a 'bamf!' sound and puffs of smoke that smell of brimstone. He reappears lounging on the nearest well, several feet off the ground.]
[ Huh! It's not the same kind of disappearance she's used to; he's literally transporting himself to another location, even as her nose crinkles a tad at the brimstone scent that follows him. ]
[He was hoping for a reaction that contained wonder, amazement, maybe a little applause. But this is a tough crowd. Kurt casually hops down to the ground while explaining.]
It depends on how far I go, and how many I do close to each other. It's as natural as walking to me! So I could tire myself out eventually, but most of the time I'm fine.
My limit's two miles. [He bamfs over to the other side of her.] But I try to keep things on the short-distance side. It won't tire me out as fast, plus it really helps to see where I'm going!
Makes sense to me. The last thing you'd probably want to do is overdo it in the first place. [ Two miles is nothing to sneer at for teleportation purposes, either. ]
Yeah. I don't know if there are mutants where you come from, but we're all born with special abilities. Many don't discover their abilities until later on. But me? I think I've been teleporting as long as I can remember.
Yeah, I sure didn't make it easy for them... but I got more well behaved as I got older and learned to control it better. Scout's honor! I'm just lucky I was raised by parents who were good to me and loved me for who I am - mutant or not. [Especially as a blue fuzzy devil child.]
... Well, if nothing else, it sounds like they had everything you'd expect from good parents.
[ including loving a mutant kid. From how he phrases it, she has to wonder if they weren't mutants themselves. But if he was born with it... huh. Is it not genetic? ]
[He smiles warmly as he thinks back at them. And feels a bit of an ache at missing them. While he only saw them for the holidays back home, at least he could write or call them. Here, he's cut off from them completely.]
For sure. They're not my birth parents, but that didn't stop them from doing everything right for me. [He wishes he could say the same for the one birth parent of his that he knows about.]
The rest of the world just isn't as ready to accept mutants. At least, where I came from. Here, the unbelievable seems a little more commonplace.
Chain Sumeragi. Nice to meet you. [ He seems like he's going to be a pretty useful source of information and he doesn't seem like a bad kid. Maybe one who's easy to tease, which is delightful. ]

Well it's a lot harder to do that when you point it out like that!

Well, if you can find a more logical approach to it, I'd work on that. How long have you been here?

[ Well. Apparently she's the info-gathering kind of escort. Happens all the time. ]
no subject
Not really. I had a stomachache the other week but I think that was just something I ate...
[He wonders if she's an escort raising money to become some kind of doctor?]
And my mutant powers are still working as well as always!

Mutant powers?

Voila?

Does that take a toll on you at all?

It depends on how far I go, and how many I do close to each other. It's as natural as walking to me! So I could tire myself out eventually, but most of the time I'm fine.

Sorry, Kurt, she's used to So Much back home. ]
And how far can you go in a single jump?

Was this an ability you were born with?

Yeah. I don't know if there are mutants where you come from, but we're all born with special abilities. Many don't discover their abilities until later on. But me? I think I've been teleporting as long as I can remember.

If you've been doing this from the beginning, you really must have run your parents ragged.

[ Mostly because they'd have no choice. ]
But it does sound like you have a good support group, at least. Even if it isn't the world yet.

Thanks, I appreciate that. And I also appreciate all the help I can get! My name's Kurt, by the way. Kurt Wagner!
