[ He argues, taking the moment to bite into on of the extra crispy burnt pieces; chewing audibly and with his mouth open. ]
But you should still make your own instead of taking them from others! Especially me! I'll have you know that I'm notorious for snatchin' soy sauce and never giving it back.
[ Pyrrha turns with a cry of effort on her lips, making to block the lunge, when the creature abruptly jerks, hit by a secondary projectile. There's no time to look the gift-Chocobo in the mouth, as it were; instead, she slashes at the shark creature and sends it skidding across the pavement with another well-placed blow.
People have cleared a circle area around her now, as the second shark stumbles up with a screech, waddling on the land. It crunches through a piece of wood from the destroyed food cart - probably soaked in juice from the sizzling meat now scattered around in the dirt and sand - and charges at her again. Pyrrha flips her shield into defensive position, striking out with the flat side of her sword, and forcing the creature to glance off, slightly dazed from the misdirect. Another slash flips it belly up, blade gleaming, and she pauses as it struggles to roll back over. Huh. ]
What a strange manner of creature... [ It's then that she catches sight of Caitlyn, green eyes curious. ] Thank you for your assistance.
[How????? She'll look very shocked by the realization of the Nevu not being known by others. It's a very big deal for Earth at the end of the 20th century and beginning of the 30th century.]
"Immensely," Her gaze turns back to it as if drawn by magnetism, before flickering back to her new acquaintance. "The moon of my world is shattered into pieces. Just there, off the right side."
She gestures, one gloved hand coming up to illustrate the portion of the moon that's missing, a sizeable chunk when she blocks it with her hand. "The pieces are still held in orbit by the gravity, but they trail off...it's not as bright."
Pyrrha tips the end of the sparkler into the offered flame, smile pulling further at her lips when it lights with a sizzle. "Do you celebrate the summer solstice, typically? My kingdom has always been a winter solstice land. It wasn't until I went away for school that I experienced a summer celebration."
[ Chain's policy is "leave people alone until they make it your problem", so she's not really the type to speak up. There's way more cheaters in Hellsalem's Lot as it is. ]
[The Doctor ruffles his hair in thought. How she not have heard of Daleks? Every corner of the universe is screaming of their terror by the 30th century.]
We - might not be from the same Earth's.
Awful. Metal robots that want to kill anything that isn't like them.
[ Pyrrha dashes forward, slashing out with her sword to drive the frightened creature back. She doesn't want to hurt it! The weird, half-shark half-rat things had caused a mess down by the petting zoo, sending animals in every direction. Most of the smaller ones were easy enough to catch, but this bird could certainly run!
The man shoots out two strings (?) at the bird, hitting it in the ankles. It squawks, wings flailing, and falls over onto it's side at the tug. Panicked, it struggles to try and get up again, and Pyrrha settles her shield over top of it's wing to pin it down. ]
Will that hurt it? [ She can see now the string is a...substance? ] Can we tie it up safely Woah -
[ The bird bucks, trying to throw her off, but she braces against its side with the shield. ]
[It's perhaps a little comical, the way Yusuke startles upon the sound of a sudden familiar voice, snapping his head towards it like a marionette whose strings had suddenly been sharply tugged.]
Kurama?!
[Buddy, you coulda started with a "hi". But he grins a moment afterward as he recovers and it sets in -- he's really not alone here, figuring this out. First Hiei and now Kurama...just a couple of years ago, the idea of having people in his life he'd be relieved to have with him in an unknown situation like this would've been hard to imagine, and even now, it surprises him a little to recognize it in himself. Just when had he stopped being that angry loner sleepwalking his way through life? It feels strange to think on, like it was a lifetime ago.
Perhaps it was, to be technical. None of the things that had changed for him could've been possible if he hadn't been hit by that car and died, after all. Odd how it might have been the best thing ever to happen to him.
Nonetheless, perhaps it would be for the best to...ah, respond? rather than stare at his friend as though trying to be very sure he's not experiencing a mirage or something equally stupid.]
Yeah...just a few hours ago. [He lets out a light exhale. Kurama's observation makes more sense than the idea that this festival is for them, but it still sits uncomfortably.]
You'd think these guys would be more nervous about hanging out with criminals, if that's the case.
[Hell, his teachers had been desperate to get rid of him back when he was just a Punk Delinquent™ after all.]
Excuse me, [ says another petite blond, all smiles and charm herself as she strolls along the beach. She's fully covered in a long-sleeved sundress and even has a cute little parasol to shield herself from the rays. Still, that isn't stopping her from also participating in the scavenger hunt and it looks like they've got their eye on the same prize. ]
I saw this little trinket first so I'll just be taking that- [ And she plucks it up before Usagi can grab it. ]
[...Well. That's an interesting getup. It reminds him a little of Touya and his demon world shinobi garb, though the mask is a new one. Yusuke raises an eyebrow, but doesn't comment, in good part because he's more interested in that comment.]
Tears, huh. What happened? Monster attacks? Zombie bug plague? Dark artifacts?
[Yusuke has led uh. An interesting life. The last couple years. He may or may not be cracking his knuckles in anticipation of some kind of fight now.]
[ Being an okuri inu, well- Rosie does have a sensitive nose and especially for Makai rot. It's something she honestly hated catching a whiff of and here, of all places, when she thought she was finally free. Despite her own misgivings about her kind, it... piques her curiosity that there might be other yokai here. ]
You don't smell like a cat, [ she says, wrinkling her nose as she peers up the tree. ] More like ash. So why would you be up there...?
[ Come at her, bro. She's also so ready. While the woman has been all smiles and cheer, she's got her own anxious aggression to work out thanks to this strange situation. And what better way than to absolutely ruin someone at volleyball? Although tiny and unassuming, she spikes like she means it and has a surprising amount of speed.
Of course, not even she is prepared for that intense spike on his end. ]Woah![ she exclaims, recognizing and narrowly avoiding the hit. While she could have probably hit it back, well- She's trying to keep some semblance of 'every day normal human lady' for a bit. ]
Hey, no problem. Lucky I managed to get out of the way, but- Yeesh. Hope you're not mad at me or anything.
[ Rosie tended to go where the party was and, well- This guy? This guy was absolutely a party. If the several bottles of wine in the middle of the day didn't tip her off, that giggling and nonchalance did. She's rosy-cheeked herself after a good few glasses. ]
What! [ she exclaims, mock incredulous. ] Are you challenging me? I'm not sure that's such a good idea if you want to keep your pride.
