[ Strictly speaking, Matt Murdock is not actually Gwen Stacy's friend. He's actually her enemy? Her archvillain? But what the Gwen who is here doesn't know can't hurt her! And Matt has always found her fascinating. So you see, you can plan a party with no ulterior motives, even for someone who got you arrested. And really, if your arch-enemy can't throw you a birthday party, who can?

Unfortunately, without his own criminal empire or Wilson Fisk's war coffers at his disposal, he has to make do with what is actually in his budget. Back in New York, he would've rented out a penthouse. Here, he has settled for a nice park with a couple of rented tables, a balloon arch (in black, white, pink, and teal no relation to spider-woman, don't worry about it), a fun little banner (it says "Hapy Birthday Gwen" instead of "Happy" did he run out of letters? did he do this on purpose? is he even aware?), some food and beverages (he's not the police), some tunes, and a cryptic message on the network Come celebrate Gwen! to tie it all together.

He's done very well, if he does say so himself! Really, it would've been way better if Jerry could have done him one tiny little solid, but it's fine. He adapted. He always does. ]

It sucked, yeah.

[Especially when everyone sort of went back to normal. Knowing that their life, all those memories they had, were just creations of the council or whomever. He hates being messed with like that and Scott knows he's not the only one that felt that way. It's just another shitty reminder that whomever is doing stuff here has a crazy sort of power.

It's hard. Kind of intimidating, but.

Scott lets out a small sigh, eyes closing behind his shades before reopening them and looking back at Gwen.]

But we made it through. [He smiles just a little.] And that's before we had two superheroes with us.

Yeah, sorry to be a let down, but I just shoot webs and punch really hard? [It's meant to be a joke, even if it's a bit of the truth. She really isn't sure what her and Peter can do differently, that the people already here couldn't already do. Plenty of them had powers and were brilliant, if the Council could overpower them, what good were another couple of superpowered teens?]

I'm kidding. Mostly. I'm also really sticky. [jokes again!! This was getting too depressing, she had to break it up with something lighthearted.]

Seriously, though-- I hope we can help. There's got to be a way out of this.

[Scott almost wants to mention that she can at least control her webs and powers, but he decides to let that go for the time being. It's... it's not the point anyway. And geez, why are they talking about all this crap during her birthday anyway? Even if she doesn't mind, he does. He can't have that kind of reputation for bringing up dour topics during a party.

But he nods, wanting to still acknowledge what she said. He... he already knows he can trust both her and Peter if things become hard around here.]

There's always a way out. [Even if also doesn't want to leave right away. He doesn't want to leave Kotone--] But first. You and your party.

Oh, definitely. Always. [It is wrong, that there's a part of her that doesn't want to leave Peter yet either? They've only just become a thing, and if he leaves, he just gets turned to dust-- maybe forever?? And she couldn't have that. Another Peter couldn't just die, not on her watch.]

Yeah, we should probably get back to that, shouldn't we?

[Even if she didn't mind the deep conversation, there were more people to greet, more shenanigans to be dragged into. Who knows what else Peter and Matt had up their sleeves?]
