[open] gwen's birthday bash
Who: Matt Murdock, Gwen Stacy, and anyone who knows her or just wants to party, tbh
Where: In a cute park!
What: This is a mingle log for Gwen's Birthday Party on May 29! Feel free to tag around.
Warnings: It's just a party! The youths might drink but that's none of Matt's business
[ Strictly speaking, Matt Murdock is not actually Gwen Stacy's friend. He's actually her enemy? Her archvillain? But what the Gwen who is here doesn't know can't hurt her! And Matt has always found her fascinating. So you see, you can plan a party with no ulterior motives, even for someone who got you arrested. And really, if your arch-enemy can't throw you a birthday party, who can?
Unfortunately, without his own criminal empire or Wilson Fisk's war coffers at his disposal, he has to make do with what is actually in his budget. Back in New York, he would've rented out a penthouse. Here, he has settled for a nice park with a couple of rented tables, a balloon arch (in black, white, pink, and teal no relation to spider-woman, don't worry about it), a fun little banner (it says "Hapy Birthday Gwen" instead of "Happy" did he run out of letters? did he do this on purpose? is he even aware?), some food and beverages (he's not the police), some tunes, and a cryptic message on the network Come celebrate Gwen! to tie it all together.
He's done very well, if he does say so himself! Really, it would've been way better if Jerry could have done him one tiny little solid, but it's fine. He adapted. He always does. ]

That seems to be the long and short of it.

(LET HIM ASK, SIR...)

(HE TOLD MATT ABOUT THE SNAP-- but though, to be fair, nothing Matt can really do, right? it has happened...
it'd create an alternative universe, it's fine.)
Anyway, Gwen told me you are on tv and stuff left and right. Real good lawyer.
no subject
[ he grins--the shark-like lawyer teeth aleksei was always on about showing--not at all afraid to take a compliment. ]
But Gwen and I knew each other, in my world. We were friends.

a tingle.)
... Yeah? That's, uh, cool. Excuse me, I-- I should check something, with the, uh, sax.
(sure)

[ sure ]
Knock yourself out, kid.
no subject
(someone teach the kid how to LIE)
no subject
[ I mean, it's obvious Peter is lying. So obvious. But he'll let him have it for now, and he'll wander off to go talk to Matt. ]
no subject
Hey, did something happen? Mr. Murdock #1 seems sour.
no subject
Is this The Parent Trap?
no subject
(like is this a request)
no subject
[ he thinks he and matt look the same )': ]
no subject
(sorry, murderdock. ): )
no subject
[ oh he's like legitimately disappointed in this. that makes the comedy act much less fun. ]
What does he look like?
no subject
(because there are plenty to go around, but, yeah, see??? it's normal.)
Also, you're a bit too old to be the twins, man.
no subject
[ come on peter!!!! ]
But that's exactly my point. We can't be both the twins and the parents, you've got entirely the wrong players here.
no subject
(come on, don't distract him with legit pop culture references, because it works!!!)
no subject
What's going on with what?
no subject
(he's not even asking accusatorily, he just thinks something is going on that is not being told to him. whatever that is.)
no subject
[ Yup. ]
Mr. Murdock # 1 and I had a disagreement over a challenge we participated in during the Tower, that's all.
no subject
(why it doesn't sound like it!!!)
Doesn't explain the feeling, though. Keep your eyes open, okay? I'll figure out soon enough.
no subject
[ He reaches over and puts his hand on Peter's arm, like he's about to tell him something very, very, very important. Indeed, his tone is Grave.
And then: ]
Keeping my eyes open does literally nothing because I'm blind.
no subject
Good point. Actually, well-played.
no subject
Instead, he just pats Peter's arm. ]
I'll keep my ear to the ground, how about that?
