TWAT club meeting mingle

Who: Scott Summers and members of TWAT (Teenagers With Abilities and Talents) Club. Or any teenager that just stops by really.
Where: Roof of the club building
What: Teenagers with abilities or maybe no real abilities hanging out on the rooftop and eating food. Talking. Doing club stuff.
Warnings: Probably none.

[Maybe you're already part of TWAT club and read the message that Scott sent out to everyone, basically stating that they're having a meeting this Saturday to just hang out and meet new members. Or you saw one of the flyers around town that mentioned about having a meeting. Either way, the meeting is held at the rooftop of the club building, so just come. No food or anything required. He's a good leader like that, yeah. Definitely.]

[Why did you come early, god.

Well, anyone that is one of those people that like to come early to events, Scott's putting you to work. Maybe it's just helping getting the food out on the tables, or bringing up chairs or tables up to the rooftop. Either way, work needs to be done and setup is still in progress, so pair up with other TWAT members or whatever to get things ready. Thanks, Scott appreciates it. Probably.

Also, if you have your own food or brought a game of some sort, that's cool. He definitely isn't going to say no. Go set that up.]

[Once the meeting starts and Scott gives some basic speech and welcoming new people to TWAT Club (in which he wasn't nervous at all shut up), people are more than welcome to just eat the pretty decent spread laid out in the tables. Stuff like chips, pizza, rice balls, ramen, probably some mixture of American and Japanese food because he's him and his girlfriend is Kotone, so yeah. There's also a little sign or note in front of the tables that states 'provided by cooking club, so join us. ✨'

Since this is a place filled with teenagers and abilities... Scott probably has encouraged people to show off their powers a little. JUST DON'T BLOW SOMETHING UP it's okay, he's talking about himself too. Of course, he's not forcing anyone to show off their powers and everything, but he sort of hopes people are feeling more comfortable to do so. That is the purpose of his club and everything.

There's also a random cornhole game set up. Don't ask.]

[Feel like being a nice person and help clean up? Nice. Scott isn't forcing anyone to stay after to do so, but he appreciates the help. It's mostly just taking tables down and clearing out the trash. Anyone that stays can probably take home some of the leftovers. So, that's a nice bonus.

Maybe you just want to sit on the ground and enjoy the evening a little. He's not judging.]

Well then I stand corrected by the magic of language! But now you've also given me an excuse to that more often!

[He grins playfully.]

Yeah, something like that? I'm not sure how to define it. But yeah. We're both friends in each others' worlds, but there's a bunch of differences between what we remember. Like the year! The Scott here is from the 1970s, and I'm from 2002! Pretty wild, right?

Careful. I'll be expecting it now.

[Yu's grin is a match, albeit maybe a little more subdued.]

That is pretty surprising. Not only different worlds, but different times...and you both know each other in both of them. [That said, he's glad that Scott has a friend from home around, even if it isn't exactly the same. That said--] It was 2012 for me back home, so I reserve the right to call you both old. [--he has to add his own smartass remark, too.]

Then I'll try not to leave 'Yu' hanging!

[A little chuckle. Then as Yu goes on, Kurt ends up feeling both intrigued and offended.]

Wait, you're from the future?! But hey, I wouldn't be old! That's just ten years. I'd still be in the prime of my life, man!

[He huffs out a soft laugh.] Don't worry, it's just a joke. I promise, no 'old' lines.

[The time element has come up before, but -- it's still interesting, when it does. Kotone's a little ahead of him, and Mikey, too...

... He doesn't want to think about that right now.]

You're right, ten years isn't really that much, around here. It's still pretty weird, though. Us all being so close in age, even when we're from such different time periods.

I know, I know. I totally didn't overreact at all! [He laughs.] We all know I'm the definition of young, hip and happening!

But yeah, that's right. I guess that's another weird scifi thing about living here! There sure is a lot to get used to. At least we TWATs can get used to it together?

Not even the tiniest bit, [he agrees, a smile playing across his face. This guy seems pretty fun, and Yu can't help being glad that Scott's got someone fun around him.]

That's true. Although I think in terms of weird sci-fi things, that's one of the milder ones. [Case in point being most of their powers, honestly. He points toward the stairs; unlike some people, he can't magically teleport himself there.] I'm gonna head up. Wanna come with? Or are you planning to take your shortcut?

[Kurt's used to being the jokester who helps to lighten Scott's serious moods. But this Scott is wound a bit less tightly than the one he's used to. It's taken some getting used to!]

Right. There's all kinds of levels of it going on in this world. [He nods along. He's already started to see things that are unbelievable for him, coming from a world of mutants! He smirks as he looks towards the stairs.]

And leave you in the dust? I'd rather take the scenic route so we can keep on rapping!

[A soft chuckle.] How kind of you. I appreciate the company.

[He says that in a pretty chill way, but-- he means it with utmost sincerity, really. He heads for the stairs, holding the door for his new friend.] To be honest, I think a lot of the stuff around here is way more sci-fi than what I'm used to. I got the feeling it was similar for Scott, too. Same for you?

[It would take away from the fun of teleportation if he jist left people behind all the time! Not to mention how unhealthy it would be on his legs if he relied solely on teleporting from Point A to Point B.]

Pretty much. Most of the sci-fi stuff back home is linked to mutants. The mutant institute I live at does have some high tech stuff! Even holographic disguises. [Really good ones! As he could demonstrate, if he chose to.] And I've seen some tech that can connect to other dimensions. Plus an ancient Egyptian mutant turned out to have surprisingly advanced tech... but that's pretty much it.

[Woah. That's a whole lot.]

Come to think of it, I don't think I ever heard of mutants before coming here, either. So maybe we're dealing with parallel worlds, on top of time difference. Guess that makes it a little more sci-fi than I originally thought.

Yeah? Either that, or they're lying low. Where I came from, the professor and others have been working to try to keep mutants under wraps, so that the public wouldn't freak out about us. It was just like a year ago when the lid got busted open, and the world found out about mutants for real. Maybe they're still hiding out in your world... waiting...

[Now he tries acting like someone out of a horror movie, wiggling his fingers ominously.]

I guess that makes sense, [Yu admits thoughtfully. It was the same for him and his friends, after all. Personas are a bit different -- both internal and external, a power that is theirs, but also...not. Not quite.

He might have been about to mention something like that, draw some comparison, but then Kurt starts doing that finger-wiggling thing, and he laughs.]

Are you insinuating that vampires are mutants, too?

[Kurt laughs, mostly at his own little bit.]

Nah - we don't suck! [He says with another little chortle.] But hey, maybe a mutant could be a vampire. Or a vampire could turn out to be a mutant? Anything's possible!

[He huffs out another soft laugh.] I guess that's true. Better brush up on my vampire lore, then.

[Why do so many of his conversations go back to Witch Detective. Help. Anyway, they finally get to the top of the stairs, and Yu pushes the door open to the roof.]

It's a good thing the party happens during the daytime, huh?

[You know. To keep out the creatures of the night, and all.]

Totally! And if we're lucky, someone might have brought some garlic knots!

[Kurt says with a grin, following him while looking ahead to the sunlight shining from the outside world.]

Can't wait for that party, though! Think we'll draw a good crowd?

Now you're thinking.

[Kurt makes it feel so easy, somehow -- just talking. Feeling normal. Even with everything going on, Yu feels like he can leave it at the door, so to speak.]

I think so. Scott is pretty persuasive, when he wants to be. [A knowing look; how else would they have such a longstanding club with that name?]

For sure. Scott is a real leader-type! He's really helped to pull the team together back home and keep us on task.

[Even if he can be Too Serious often. But that's what Kurt's around for! Even in a club full of TWATs.]

I know I'm interested in seeing what other kind of powered people are out there. And a little nervous! I'm used to it pretty much just being mutants.

I'm not surprised to hear that.

[The Scott he knows might not exactly be a leader yet, but...the potential is definitely there for everyone to see.]

Don't worry. There are a lot of different types of power here, so everyone's kind of on the same playing field, so to speak.

Well that's cool. I can't wait to see what everyone brings to the table.

[Kurt then smiles lightly at Yu.]

Y'know, not to put you on the spot, but do you have anything going on power-wise?

[Yu waves off the concern -- it's not exactly on the spot if that's what they're all here for, right?]

I guess you could say that, yeah. I can summon things.

["Summon things." Could you be more vague, Yu. He rubs the back of his neck.] It's easier to demonstrate.

Summoning, huh? Sounds cool. [He's not sure what to expect, picturing something like a wizard summoning something. So he looks on curiously. Having shown off his own powers for a while, he's eager to see someone else's in action.]

Well, by all means! [He gestures at Yu.] ...If you're ready!

[It's funny. Yu can call on a Persona in the middle of a battle with no problem whatsoever, but the idea of summoning one just to show off...still makes him feel a little self-conscious. Well, better to practice now, right? Besides, showing off and demonstrating aren't the same thing, and it really is easier to show than tell.

So he summons the card for Izanagi, a larger-than-life masked entity with a giant sword. Izanagi stares between Yu and Kurt for a second, expectantly, waiting for something to happen.]

They're called Personas. I can summon others, but you get the idea.

[He watches in wonder as Izanagi is summoned. And from some kind of card.]

Whoa! It's like a trading card come to life! [Like something out of some kind of magic card game!] So cool.

[He gives a meek smile and little wave for Izanagi.]

Hello there... Mr. Persona, sir?

[Most Personas are imposing by design, and Izanagi is no different, though he also manages to somehow look slightly...confused. Like he's wondering why he's there. Privately, Yu wonders if Izanagi regrets sticking with him at times like this, being trotted out just for show. But he's still here -- so that counts for something, right?

Yu grins a bit at Kurt's reaction.]

He's not much of a talker, unfortunately.

[He dismisses the Persona after that, for the sake of not pushing his luck (or his SP).] I guess it sort of is like a card game, in a way.

[And just like that, the bog guy's gone! And here Kurt was thinking he'd stick around and enjoy most of the food.]

I guess that's why he's Mr. Persona and not Mr. Personality...

[He says with a little laugh. It was definitely a unique ability! Kurt finds himself thinking of anime that was probably running during his time.]

And you said there's more of them, right? Yeah, then you're definitely like a one-man magic trading card game! So cool!
