TWAT club meeting mingle

Who: Scott Summers and members of TWAT (Teenagers With Abilities and Talents) Club. Or any teenager that just stops by really.
Where: Roof of the club building
What: Teenagers with abilities or maybe no real abilities hanging out on the rooftop and eating food. Talking. Doing club stuff.
Warnings: Probably none.


[Maybe you're already part of TWAT club and read the message that Scott sent out to everyone, basically stating that they're having a meeting this Saturday to just hang out and meet new members. Or you saw one of the flyers around town that mentioned about having a meeting. Either way, the meeting is held at the rooftop of the club building, so just come. No food or anything required. He's a good leader like that, yeah. Definitely.]

[Why did you come early, god.

Well, anyone that is one of those people that like to come early to events, Scott's putting you to work. Maybe it's just helping getting the food out on the tables, or bringing up chairs or tables up to the rooftop. Either way, work needs to be done and setup is still in progress, so pair up with other TWAT members or whatever to get things ready. Thanks, Scott appreciates it. Probably.

Also, if you have your own food or brought a game of some sort, that's cool. He definitely isn't going to say no. Go set that up.]

[Once the meeting starts and Scott gives some basic speech and welcoming new people to TWAT Club (in which he wasn't nervous at all shut up), people are more than welcome to just eat the pretty decent spread laid out in the tables. Stuff like chips, pizza, rice balls, ramen, probably some mixture of American and Japanese food because he's him and his girlfriend is Kotone, so yeah. There's also a little sign or note in front of the tables that states 'provided by cooking club, so join us. ✨'

Since this is a place filled with teenagers and abilities... Scott probably has encouraged people to show off their powers a little. JUST DON'T BLOW SOMETHING UP it's okay, he's talking about himself too. Of course, he's not forcing anyone to show off their powers and everything, but he sort of hopes people are feeling more comfortable to do so. That is the purpose of his club and everything.

There's also a random cornhole game set up. Don't ask.]

[Feel like being a nice person and help clean up? Nice. Scott isn't forcing anyone to stay after to do so, but he appreciates the help. It's mostly just taking tables down and clearing out the trash. Anyone that stays can probably take home some of the leftovers. So, that's a nice bonus.

Maybe you just want to sit on the ground and enjoy the evening a little. He's not judging.]

Well hey that's cool! Magic is super awesome. And it's always good to be able to defend yourself! I mean, that's the best use of abilities and powers, really. It's all about protection! [He offers a thumbs up.]

I-i guess. I've never done anything with them here, when there's been danger or a battle or whatever I've always just brought my rifle.

Wait, a rifle? [He didn't see that coming.] That- that's your weapon of choice?

Well, I was in the army before I, uh, came here.

Oh. I- I guess that would explain that! [He says with a meek snile. He wouldn't have taken him for a soldier.]

I guess it makes sense to defend yourself with what you know. But I'm sure that magic of yours would come in handy too!

Yeah...it's just...weird. The magic.

Its...I don't know. I thought it wasn't really for most of my life. And it's draining to use but that makes sense. I'm just not used to it, I guess. But I don't see a reason to use it enough to get used to it. Sometimes I even forget I know it.

[Except the talking to rats and crows thing, that was normal because he couldn't turn it off anyway.]

I see. It's not good if it's draining and all. But maybe it can help to practice it a little here and there. See if it makes it easier to use! I do come from a place with a school that's all about controlling powers and being safe about it. If you're down, I'd be happy to help you however I can!

Uh...maybe. I think that's just the cost to use it. But, um, I'll think about it.

[He'd usually prefer he didn't have to deal with it though.]

Aw man. If it's a natural part of the power, that's a shame. But it still could be good to practice using it for emergencies. Just a thought, though! Thanks for hearing me out.

Well everything has a cost, right? The, um, the girl I met who knew more about it talked like it was always a strain of some sort.

[Though learning better control of a few of his spells might be useful...]

It's more like there's ups and downs than a cost with my powers, but I get what you mean. Some powers and abilities really do work like that, and it definitely sounds like it's the case with the magic where you came from! Bummer.

[Magic was kind of a bummer when your MP bar was the same as your Sanity bar.]

Yeah, I'm pretty sure that's just it. It's kind of weird to me that other magic doesn't but it's not like I had much experience with it. And a lot of the worlds people come from are weird. Well, um, weird to me at least.

I get what you mean. What is it they say? Everything's relative! Your normal is someone else's weird. But I guess that's what's cool about this club. We can get together and see through all the weirdness.

[Never mind that Kurt is hiding what could easily be considered the weirdest thing about himself.]

Yeah, I guess that's true. It's really obvious if you talk to Chosen in this place. There's stuff I think is normal but other people have never heard of before too.

Well, we can keep on talking about things to see if it makes them feel more normal. Like, do you know about mutants?

I think Scott maybe said something about them? But I don't think there are any in my world.

I see. Well I'm a mutant too! And my power- [With that, he teleports just across the room and back, leaving behind quickly-dissipating clouds of brimstone.] -is this! So now you know one more here!

[He'd seen Kurt do that already, but it was surprising to see up close.]

S-so...mutants are people with special powers?

[digthefuzz]

[He wasn't sure if Levi had seen him demonstrating earlier, so now he has a front run seat! Kurt smiles.]

That's a good way of putting it! It's like we're humans, but there's something different in our DNA called the X-Gene. That's what causes us to develop powers and stuff as we grow up! A lot of us get just one power, but some of us have a few tricks up our sleeves. It's like evolution!

And you're just...born like that?

Yeah, it just seems to randomly happen like that. But the powers usually don't develop until later in childhood, like puberty or something. Mine started early, but it's different fot everyone.

Weird...but kinda cool. Yours seems really useful, too.

I get that a lot. But it is true! It's my favorite way to get around, that's for sure. I just have to make sure I know where I'm going, and I can't get too far, but I can get some good mileage out of this before I tucker myself out.
