TWAT club meeting mingle

Who: Scott Summers and members of TWAT (Teenagers With Abilities and Talents) Club. Or any teenager that just stops by really.
Where: Roof of the club building
What: Teenagers with abilities or maybe no real abilities hanging out on the rooftop and eating food. Talking. Doing club stuff.
Warnings: Probably none.

[Maybe you're already part of TWAT club and read the message that Scott sent out to everyone, basically stating that they're having a meeting this Saturday to just hang out and meet new members. Or you saw one of the flyers around town that mentioned about having a meeting. Either way, the meeting is held at the rooftop of the club building, so just come. No food or anything required. He's a good leader like that, yeah. Definitely.]

[Why did you come early, god.

Well, anyone that is one of those people that like to come early to events, Scott's putting you to work. Maybe it's just helping getting the food out on the tables, or bringing up chairs or tables up to the rooftop. Either way, work needs to be done and setup is still in progress, so pair up with other TWAT members or whatever to get things ready. Thanks, Scott appreciates it. Probably.

Also, if you have your own food or brought a game of some sort, that's cool. He definitely isn't going to say no. Go set that up.]

[Once the meeting starts and Scott gives some basic speech and welcoming new people to TWAT Club (in which he wasn't nervous at all shut up), people are more than welcome to just eat the pretty decent spread laid out in the tables. Stuff like chips, pizza, rice balls, ramen, probably some mixture of American and Japanese food because he's him and his girlfriend is Kotone, so yeah. There's also a little sign or note in front of the tables that states 'provided by cooking club, so join us. ✨'

Since this is a place filled with teenagers and abilities... Scott probably has encouraged people to show off their powers a little. JUST DON'T BLOW SOMETHING UP it's okay, he's talking about himself too. Of course, he's not forcing anyone to show off their powers and everything, but he sort of hopes people are feeling more comfortable to do so. That is the purpose of his club and everything.

There's also a random cornhole game set up. Don't ask.]

[Feel like being a nice person and help clean up? Nice. Scott isn't forcing anyone to stay after to do so, but he appreciates the help. It's mostly just taking tables down and clearing out the trash. Anyone that stays can probably take home some of the leftovers. So, that's a nice bonus.

Maybe you just want to sit on the ground and enjoy the evening a little. He's not judging.]

[Yu's leaning on him sends a thrill of affection through him. to be able to be needed in this way... it makes him feel so happy, even if it's such a shitty situation for this to happen. it's what he always wanted, to be able to be that person Yu could lean on.

[he knows there's a double meaning there, and he moves to hold Yu's hand now, as well as rest his head against Yu's.]

But you got me to lean on, you know? That'll never change... no matter what our relationship looks like.

[He exhales, his eyes squeezing shut; it's about as close to a laugh as he's going to manage, for the moment, but it's better than nothing. This isn't the first time he's felt, deeply, how grateful he is that both of them are here -- not by a long shot. But once again he finds himself depending on his partner...maybe more than Yosuke even realizes.

(Hmm. He never does seem to realize, does he. Just how dense can he be?)]

I know. [Yu squeezes his hand to punctuate the words, to drive them home.] I'm glad you're here.

[... It's still a bit strange, isn't it, to talk like this. He's so used to other people opening up that he's never had to share much about himself before. It feels-- weirdly raw. A little uncomfortable.]

[Yosuke is incredibly dense, okay. like so incredibly dense.]

Glad to be here. Even though it's hell sometimes.

[he's not going to touch on everything they've been through since they got here. it'd take too long and probably ruin the mood even worse. but there had been good moments too, getting closer to Yu. finally realizing his feelings. being able to find a kind friend in Mitama that he also has a crush on.

he just has to think about it like that.]

I already told Scott we could beat the shit out of him when he comes back, or we find him. Whatever comes first. You probably won't be down, but we are.

Same. [Said with a faint chuckle. In all honesty, Yu isn't the sort of person who usually regrets experiences, good or bad. They're just part of the path that gets you to who you are -- and where you are.

Right now...fingers interlaced...where isn't so bad.

Still, his expression turns thoughtful at the rest. The thought of beating up the so-proclaimed "Invincible" Mikey... Yosuke's right -- it's not what he wants at all, and it shows in the tone of his voice.]

I'd rather just leave him be. Not that I believe for a second that I can stop either of you.

[In spite of being a Leader, his team has always been headstrong in doing what they think is best. It's part of why he trusts them so much -- usually.]

[yeah. Yosuke was only just barely stopped before, but at least Mikey hasn't murdered anyone... yet. (lol)

he'd just really hurt Yu.]

You'd do the same for me. Just think about it in my shoes.

[well. maybe Yu would, anyway. he'd like to think that he'd be really angry on his behalf like this...

but there's still sometimes a little bit of insecurity there.]

I would. [Punctuated by a small squeeze of his hand. The lengths he'd go to for his friends, for Yosuke especially...his younger self would be shocked, to see the bonds he's forged.]

... but I don't want you to get hurt. [Again. The look he gives his partner is pointed and meaningful. He's seen too much of his friends taking blows, especially for his sake, and even if Yosuke disagrees about whether it's worth it, Yu hopes the other boy understands how much he hates it, at least. The second meaning to that look is knowing the scope of Mikey's abilities, of course -- and the fact that he has superstrength tacked onto it.] It's not worth the risk if he doesn't want to change.

[That last part is hard to admit. He thought he knew Mikey so well, thought their bond had meant something... Now, weakly, he wonders if he made a mistake, trusting him.]

I won't get hurt if the bastard can't get close to me.

[the way him and Scott had already talked about it. if he can't get close, then he can't land a punch. right? that would totally work. there's no way a human would be able to take down Susano-o...

but he forces himself back to the present. because even if he wants to confront him and yell and everything, he thinks he shouldn't. at least not now.]

Did he send you anything else different, or just what he sent me?

[He huffs out a small sound, halfway between a sigh and a chuckle. Of course Yosuke would think like that. As if it's just about whether Mikey can land a punch and not about the thoughtlessness that goes along with it.]

You take your own safety way too lightly. Just because you can fight doesn't mean you should keep throwing yourself in harm's way.

[Not for something like this. It's not worth the risk. And sometimes it is -- sometimes it's necessary. But this? It's all just hurt feelings and reversed bonds. It's pretty low on the priority list. Yu leaves it at that, though, focusing on the follow-up question enough to think about it...and then shake his head.]

I think it was the same. It sounds like he sent it to a few people.

[there's a hmph as Yu fusses at Yosuke, but he doesn't end up actually saying anything. it wouldn't be worth it, and also it's neither here nor there now.]

Copy and pasting something like that also kind of makes it even worse.

[but that's just him, he might be a little biased.]

But let's talk about something else. Maybe about the fact that Scott's literally kept this club's name the twat club.

[Honestly, Yosuke isn't wrong. Yu nods to show for it -- but he doesn't embellish anything, for now. Let's talk about something else. He's never been so glad for that suggestion before.

He even manages a bit of a smile, huffing out a soft laugh.]

I think we're stuck with it. Better just get used to being a TWAT, at this point.

[He may be a serious nerd and an overthinker, but he's also a chaos gremlin deep, deep down.]

[........... there's a moment.]

[but then his grimace turns into a bit of laughter. he can't help it.

he gives Yu a playful punch, still grinning.]

I don't know how you can say that sort of stuff with a straight face. You're gonna have to teach me some tricks one day.

[The grimace gets almost more of a smile out of him than the laugh. Sorry, Yosuke, but making you groan gives him life, in some odd way he can't describe. Listen, some people are just too fun to tease.]

Talent, [he answers, nudging Yosuke with his elbow.

I'm sorry to tell you he then goes on to say the following:] I can show you some tricks any time. [... because while we're collecting the descriptors nerd and chaos gremlin, we cannot discount the fact that he is also a teenage boy.]

[... there's a moment where Yosuke's quiet for once in his life. and then he grins, and nudges Yu back with his own elbow.]

Any tricks I haven't seen before? I might be down for it.

[because they are both... teenage boys.]

[His smile only grows, but he leans in a bit before he responds.]

Could be. I wouldn't call any of them party tricks, though.

[He gestures at the rest of the roof; the party's winding down, but there are still a few other stragglers.]

[Yosuke's grin only widens, and he gets a little bit closer to Yu.]

Then maybe we should go home and you can show me.

[he glances around at the rest of the party.]

Or... we could find somewhere where there isn't anyone around, if you don't want to wait.

If I don't want to wait? [Said with a little nudge. Yosuke, you're offering that and this is how you qualify it?? Not that Yu is saying no to the idea. It actually sounds kind of fun. But he has to give Yosuke a bit of a hard time about it, too.

When he speaks again, he leans in, speaking softly and directly into the other boy's ear.]

I've always wondered what it would feel like, sneaking around a school club building.

[there's a little shiver that runs down Yosuke's back at the closeness of Yu and his words. but his grin only gets more intense as he puts a hand on Yu's knee and leans forward too, his voice pitching lower.]

Let's go find out, then. Not like it should be hard right now...

[given that most people were trying to go home, and it's possible Scott and Kotone would be distracted cleaning up........]
