[Not the most helpful answer, but it also doesn't concern Peter, so vagueness it is. He squints at the copper plate, but gingerly takes it into the claws of his gauntlet.]

What can you do with something like this?

(a few more plates come out, but they're different colors, shapes, and well, now poor vincent is gonna hold them while peter is nearly entering the dumpster itself.)

Uh, so, copper, right. Copper does a bunch of stuff, it is a great conductor of electricity and heat, for starters. All electronics have copper in them. But, also like, if you fill a jar or beaker with sulfuric acid and water, put copper in it, connect the wires to a 6-volt battery, you get copper sulfate - pretty blue, pretty cool, and that one you can use in agriculture, and a bunch of other stuff. When I was talking about materials, that's kinda what I mean.

[If Vincent was unwilling, he'd just either hand the items back or drop them, but he seems to just accept that he's going to help hold onto Peter's findings.]

[well he sort of sees. Vincent wouldn't know the first thing about how to support any of that, but clearly Peter does. It does give him a better idea of what items to provide, at least.]

What projects would you focus on primarily?

Uuuuh, mostly engineering and robotics, with a dash of physics. I can run a computer, but I'm learning how to program - it was not my, ouch, ouch, this is pointy-- best skill.

(okay, emerging out of the trash, and shaking his head to put his hair back in place.)

[yep, those things are definitely outside of his expertise, but he does genuinely respect it. Vincent just nods, acknowledging. Although he might not really understand any of it, he is also interested.]

(it looks pretty heavy, but peter takes the plates back from vincent along with the other ones he had put next to the trash.)

I will accompany you back.

[Honestly, he would feel better if he made sure Peter made it back to his lab anyway. It's probably not needed, but regardless... regardless, it is inaction that is one of Vincent's sins.

[The friendliness earns a glance, but nothing out of disappointment. If anything, just some mild confusion before he responds.]

It's tolerable, but also troubling. I don't much care for not knowing what's really happening here, and what happens back in our own worlds. Too many possibilities.

You can't not care, man. If you don't care, then you're just accepting, right?

(or that's kind of how he feels. it's how he feels about himself, too. if he doesn't care enough to be spiderman, then-- it makes no sense. great power, great responsibility, even if he hasn't heard that yet.

but, here's the lab. peter's a little clumsy with opening the door, settling the plates on a table before he goes for the light switch.)

[But it does bother him, more than words can say. He doesn't fully understand their situation, and if there is a way to undo it. It has to be done, or waking up was absolutely useless after all.

Snapping out of his thoughts, Vincent tilts his head as they arrive. He takes only a moment to gaze outside, as if checking the perimeter before he follows Peter in.]

Do you feel secure in your workspace? [look man this is important to a former bodyguard]

(that moment when he comes with a danger radar embedded in his brain, although it feels... off, in this place. it works just fine, but it's like it's pinging continuously, as if it was telling peter this place is a threat in itself in the background.

which makes him wonder why exactly is vincent so worried right at this moment, because it doesn't tingle more than it has been.)

I mean, yeah, we follow all the lab precautions, we're both going to wear gloves and eye protection while I'm cleaning if you're staying with me here, Mr. Valentine.
