[ Maybe someday he will be brave enough to offer a real headpat...

For now, Minato exhales, shoulders sagging a bit in defeat. The hand on Akira's shoulder drops to his own lap. ]

...yeah. Me too.

[ It's Akira's honesty which makes him feel he can lower his own guard over that flaw. And even though both Scott and Sha-Ming have chewed him out over it, it's difficult to make that reminder stick.

It's hard to remember when you're someone who'd wordlessly shoulder the weight of the moon for others. ]

[Akira will respond quite favorably, so the bravery will absolutely be rewarded.]

[He folds around the back of his chair again, smiling knowingly.] Maybe... since we're all sort of bad at looking after ourselves, we can look after each other, instead.

[ That sounds much easier, more manageable than trying to balance his own sense of self worth. ]

...I think I could do that.

[ After all, trying to keep an eye on others comes naturally to Minato. Even if treating oneself for the sake of others still falls into the pitfall of doing something for another person, it's at least for a good cause, isn't it? ]

[Akira sets his chin on the back of his chair, smiling.]

Same. [He slides his eyes to Koromaru.] That okay with you?

[ Koromaru's ears flick up as Akira glances at him. He affirms with an enthusiastic, "Arf!" with an accompanying tail wag. It wouldn't hurt to have another person keeping an eye on Minato, the dog thinks to himself.

Minato, on the other hand, is still studying Akira's face. It's time to put his resolve into action. ]

...you should sleep, soon.

[ It must've been difficult to do so, given Akechi's current state. ]

[The consequences of Akira's actions have just told him to go to sleep, and for a moment he's startled before his smile pulls a little wider and he closes his eyes, raising one hand to wave it through the air idly.]

I'll make a deal with you-- I'll sleep if you sleep.

[ Ah. So it seems they're caught in a standoff then, one that Minato is all to happy to concede. He doesn't need a deal for something like getting more shut-eye (as it's something he's always pleased to do), but if it'll persuade Akira to rest, then: ]

All right. I'll get some more rest.

[ And yes, he fully expects Akira to head straight for Akechi's bed. ]
