[Ok. That makes him properly lower his phone and look at Toph, frowning in disbelief. He's the first one to admit that he's done lot of awful shit. But biting someone's face? Yeah, that doesn't ring any bells. Outside of Akira, but honestly he wouldn't be talking -- let alone complaining about their intimate moments to a small child??]

[Akechi blinks, somewhat taken aback by the accusation. But then it clicks and honestly he can't help but laugh a little and shake his head. Ah, so he meant that time. He didn't realize that Aragaki-san was such petty drama queen.]

Hah. I wonder about that. He might seem to tell you the truth but often leaves important context unmentioned and thus twisting the truth. I'm certain you are sharp enough to know that is just one form of manipulation and lying.

But unlike Shinjiro, he didn't leave unnecessary vague hints about events that had occurred. (because his insecurity makes him automatically want to prove he's the smartest one around shh).]

He told me you also tried to rile up everybody into killing a whole town of people in revenge. Hard to come back from something like that.

Anyway, he keeps smiling at her, scoffing in amusement at that. Wow, Shinji is truly being major petty bitch, huh.]

Something like that happened yes. The neighboring town, Rumpitur, had systemically been kidnapping and killing people from Aldrip. They eventually targeted us The Chosen and attacked us. They did hurt someone of interest to me.

We managed to rescue majority of the kidnapped people, but the issue what to do with Rumpiturians was still at the hand. They might have acted to protect themselves but showed no regret nor remorse. I, along the a few other, suggested that we'd make the ones responsible for our hurt to pay.

[ Oh, he is gonna try to weasel out of this, too, huh. Major Azula vibes for sure, except Azula would probably be weaseling while simultaneously attacking her, so Akechi has that going for him. Maybe Toph just hasn't given him a real reason to see her as an enemy the way she was for the Fire Nation's princess, and that's the only real difference. No way to know; she barely knows him. ]

Problem is, we don't actually murder a whole town for some of them doing bad things and refusing to feel bad about it afterwards, [ Toph says bluntly, perfectly succinct. She doesn't necessarily have a problem with revenge, but nothing about Toph Beifong applies force indiscriminately.

In a droll tone: ] You're making it seem like it was this totally rational plan, but nobody looking for revenge is being rational about it.

[To be fair, Toph's comparison between Akechi and the fire nation princess isn't entirely unfair. Though for him it's less about trying to slither away from the responsibility but explaining his rationality behind these, unhinged, thoughts. But at the end of the day, cat is always a cat and there's no denying that he's more than a little deranged.]

Really? So what if it wasn't just one bad apple in the bunch but a whole bunch of vermins. Rumpiturians had all collectively agreed to sacrifice us to save their own skin. I have hard time feeling sympathy for people like those.

[It's an ugly, dog eat dog world after all.] and I was hardly the only one sharing this sentiment. There were others agreeing with me while the rest were busy licking theirs own wounds and feeling sorry for themselves.

[ Hearing him continue to try to justify it like there's some way it makes sense, some way that means she'll both understand and agree, is wild. Toph doesn't hold back in response. Call a cat what it is indeed. She's heard plenty of garbage from people rationalizing why they should fight the war at home, and this is just more of the same. ]

I'm no feel-good "let's all get along" pacifist, but even I know you can't call people "a whole bunch of vermin" like that justifies something.

And, for the record? If you think others agreeing with you means you're right, you really need to grow a spine of your own.

[Despite his positioning here, Akechi truly does appreciate her way of giving it to him straight. Outspoken people with brains are his favorite, after all. And it does seem like that Toph has head a strong enough between her shoulders.

Though, he does not agree with her a bit. Akechi coughs out a laughter, wheezing a little in process as his already sore and irritated throat is protesting against such strain. She, in a way, reminds him a quite lot of the Phantom Thieves. The rag tag group of misfits with hearts of gold, looking to chance the world but still failing to understand a lot of it.

Because in the end there is one big, fundamental difference between them.]

If you truly believe that there is such a thing as 'right' or 'wrong' here you are blind in more ways than just one.

Laugh all you want, chuckles. I'm not having a philosophical debate with someone who calls people vermin.

[ Ragtag group of misfits with a heart of gold isn't quite right for the Gaang, but there's some commonalities there. Still, Toph isn't going to get drawn into an argument about ethics. She has her own steadfast values and flexible sense of morality, and she isn't threatened by someone else criticizing it. She's completely certain in her own decisions.

Ultimately, she doesn't think there's such a thing as right or wrong, either. Not really. But she does think there's a difference between objective reality and the lies people tell themselves to justify their actions. ]

Why not? After all, you are the one judging me for a behavior you didn't see and for words that I have not used.

[Though it's not really incorrect either. He does, after all, think that the world is filled with nothing but trash and shitty people. But vermin, huh? Seems like Shinjiro has decided to add more color to his wording than what he had thought.]

You claim not to be one of the blindly follow the divide between right and wrong and yet you're quick to judge on just hearsay. I'd expect you to use that brain of yours more and look for the truth yourself than just follow someone else's story like a tool.

[ Wow, he just keeps going. Toph leans back casually and rests her head on one hand while she listens, looking faintly amused. He just called them vermin as a metaphor a second ago, but Toph isn't going to get sucked into that kind of argument. ]
