Yeah, it's not part of our world, as far as I can tell.
[She drops that fact casually, keeping her hand in his as they walk. It's past the point where she should probably let go -- they're out of sight of the workers on the boat -- but she doesn't want to. Explaining all this stuff sucks, and she's messed it up more than once; if she can keep hold of him, maybe she can at least keep him with her a little longer.]
Like, the stars don't match up, and I've seen some maps that don't make any sense, plus people are here from all different times. [A bit of a sideways glance at him, trying to gauge his expression, as she adds,] The moon's full every night, too.
no worries! (also have been playing stardew a lot recently)
Wait, like we’re in space? [Technically isekai as a genre is already a thing in their world, but the way you say it makes it sound like the aliens abducted them!] I’m not sure if that makes sense, but it’s clear that we’re not at home anymore.
[It’ll be rough to get used to everything again — there’s some things in Japan that still felt foreign to him before this, and being here is like another layer of difficulty added to that. But if he managed to do it before, he could do it again! Just gotta make sure to learn, so he nods and absorbs everything Kotone says.
He doesn’t understand why she suddenly sounds so careful at the end, though — was she waiting for him to voice his opinion?]
Well, I do find the full moon to be comforting. [Having a preference over the phases of the moon is normal, right?] I just feel more energized during those nights, y’know? But I would miss seeing a crescent moon every now and then, too.
[Said with all the bright cheer of someone who genuinely doesn't care one way or another. People who are way smarter than she is have been trying to solve that particular puzzle for the past year she's been here, so she'd pretty quickly adopted an attitude of "whatever happens, happens." Kind of like home, in that respect!
It's that cheer that carries her through the next bit, her smile unfaltering even as it doesn't touch her eyes quite as much. He doesn't remember, does he? Or he doesn't know. There's no way the Ryoji she'd known in that final month, the Ryoji they'd faced in battle, would have taken a comment like that so easily. Plus, the carefree smiles, the easy acceptance... it's much different from the boy who'd begged her to kill him in her room that bitterly cold night.
But as always, she continues, squeezing his hand a bit and swinging it between them.]
Yeah, I kinda like it, too. It makes it pretty easy to see at night! Oh, I mean, I guess the city doesn't need it as much now. It used to be like, a little village from a storybook almost? But it's like a proper city, now. I'm still trying to find my way around sometimes!
walks back in after getting trapped playing stardew for two weeks straight hi sorry
