"Two ordeals... Hrm... That sounds like the days when Philemon intervened directly. Those were ordeals that... Did not involve me or my siblings, though they had far reaching consequences from what I have understood."
She rubs her chin, "I believe that were one to look at time, the ordeal I assisted with took place later, however, as time does not work the same in the Velvet Room, I am not certain."
"I see." So that already gave him a lot more information that he had expected; it seemed Philemon had stepped back from interfering directly. It made sense, considering what he had seem reflected in the Alaya Caverns from Tatsuya's memories. It probably meant that, in return, his opposite wouldn't interfere either.
"I am glad to know Igor is still around, as is the Velvet Room. The aid of its inhabitants is...was invaluable to us."
He bites his tongue at the mention of games because he hates that implication and all that it entrails. But it makes sense. Humanity will keep getting tested. While one always wishes that they'd be the last one, he knows it is merely folly to think that way.
"I see. I did meet a man in the Velvet Room who said he was there on a quest of his own. It makes sense that a similar situation could happen with residents of the Velvet Room leaving to figure out their own answers."
The world wouldn't be ready for Igor in the real world, he was pretty certain.
"I have heard tale of him, but he was gone when me and my siblings were brought into being."
She shrugs, "I.... Presided over an ordeal brought about by man trying to bind Death to control time. I did not like how there were.... Things left uncompleted after. So I left to deal with it. I am uncertain how my master would take it as we are not to directly intervene."
"But, when I conducted my duties, I gave many quests to ensure my guests were strong enough to entail the horrors of the ordeal. Even if I suppose it was interfearing in a small way."
So, in theory she is from the 'future' of the Velvet Room, but it wouldn't necessarily mean the 'future' of his world, considering the abilities of that place. Paradoxes that wouldn't make sense if he hadn't seen them with his own eyes.
"Don't tell Igor-san that I told you this but...I do know he helped calm down the Joker from infected humans. Knowing Philemon was incapacitated at the time...perhaps that's why he hasn't attempted to come get you directly. For all we know, maybe he had a journey of his own before."
"Ah the Jokka curse... I have heard about it. As well as some other things."
She shakes her head a bit, "No, the ordeals I assisted in were... Humanity found things that Philemon's opponent... Left behind. I do not know the specifics, only that a rich family broke off from the family of one of my master's previous guests and in an attempt to gain immortality trapped the Goddess Nyx."
She laughs a bit, "It was something that was not beneath him, but... Was the making of man, so he was not allowed to intervene. At least that is what I think given the things returned to me from the quests I sent my guest on."
See how fast Kei's face went right into utter confusion and slight horror.
"...Ahh, that bit of information would explain the paper I ended up with when I arrived here. Accused of the separation leading to a world changing event..."
Immortality. Somehow, he could see the Kirijo patriarch attempting it. He thinks how Kandori's own brief godhood had left him with nothing, as had Sudou's...but his son (being much older than himself) at least seemed more like himself...unwilling to be in the dark shadow of their family history.
"Oh yes. That paper. Mine said many things that I already knew."
She shrugs at that. These papers seem to be nothing but trouble, just looking at the faces he made and the explanation that is had something to do with the paper.
"But I left to... Deal with the final problems of that as Erebus was awoken and... I do not understand humanity enough to kill Erebus in any sort of way that it will stay dead."
Erebus...the personification of Darkness in Greek mythology. Kei knew a little of the mythology behind it, but not the creature itself.
"I'm afraid my friend Eriko would be more knowledgeable about anything involving demons, but I am certain if a member of the Velvet Room is involved, time isn't a problem."
"For me? No, it isn't really a problem. The thing is if Nyx manages to break the great seal, humanity as a whole will die out."
She shakes her head, "Which ultimately would fix my problem, given how humanity keeps reviving Erebus every time I kill it. But I do not think he would be happy if I let humanity die."
Well, that doesn't sound Very Good, that's for sure.
"Man is a creature that is ruled by emotions. While I do agree this would be a logical way to end things, I think continuing to believe that humanity will overcome this trial one day and aiding them is a much better path."
The Kei of three years ago would be screaming at himself today.
"Emotions are one thing. Erebus feeds on mankind's desire to not exist because existence is too hard. I am uncertain what god needs to be challenged directly to accomplish anything even close to this."
She just shakes her head at that, "Perhaps this is an issue of too much law over chaos? But chaos is no better."
no subject
"I can not say that things run the same for every ordeal, as every contract is different. May I ask when you came to visit us?"
no subject
(Says the man with a #1 scarf.)
"We visited twice. First with my friends three years ago, then a short while before I arrived here." Not quite understanding the question.

She shrugs, "I can not say much more about it though as I left Master and my siblings behind. I am still trying to figure out my own question."
